NEBUCHADNEZZAR’S DREAM To understand the prophecy of the Eagle in II Esdras chapters 11 & 12, we must first start with Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel Chapter 2, which was interpreted by Daniel when he was a captive in Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar’s dream was a timeline that would reach all the way down to the beginning and end of the latter days.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR’S DREAM In Nebuchadnezzars dream he saw a great statue with a golden head which represented Babylon, lasting 70 yrs. The Medes & Persians were on the statue with silver arms and chest lasting about 225 years. The Greek empire was represented as brass abdomen and thighs, lasting about 350 years. Finally, the Roman empire as iron legs and feet mingled with clay and iron was a mixture of weak and strong nations which lasted 1000 yrs. Each of these empires were world powers.

W H E R E D O E S T H E U S FA L L The United States is a part of the Roman empire and is an iron nation and a world power for 244 years so far. This is what the prophecy of the Eagle is about. Israel was in captivity in all these nations.

They were in cruel bondage, yet God placed Israel there for their protection. The slavery in the US was the cruelest which have affected black people even today.

THE RISE OF THE US We already know the history of the United States and their cruel slavery and abuses. We know how the slaves built this country and made it prosperous. But this country would grow to be a world power. The Lord made them great by giving them new inventions like the airplane and jets and cars, electricity, and all modern ways of communication.

This country was also blessed with powerful military might, world class education and cutting-edge technology and science which made it a world leader.

T H E G R E AT E A G L E This country, The United States of America, is the Great Eagle that Esdras saw with 3 heads, one big head in the middle and the two smaller heads on the right and left side, 12 feathered wings, and a wing spread all over the earth with great power and influence over the world with control over the nations.

T H E G R E AT E A G L E Out of her feathers grew 8 contrary feathers. The head in the middle is the federal government (Legislative, Executive, Judicial) branches with right and left beliefs system to govern, and the brain of this eagle is the constitution with laws to govern the country.

T H E G R E AT E A G L E This Eagle had great talons, representing its ability to make war with any nation. Indeed, all nations were fearful of her power. The body of the eagle represents the voice of the people. The feathers represented each president. This eagle had 8 contrary feathers which were the presidents who took away the good from the poor, black and minority people and especially those who are the children of Israel.

WORLD WAR I WW1 started in 1914 against Germany. Russia fought in WW1, however in 1917, the Russian revolution and Communism began after they killed the Russian Czar and his family, its symbol being the bear.

FLU OF 1918 The Flu of 1918 started a year after the Russian Revolution and killed more people than the war.

US & ECONOMIC GROWTH The US economy continued to grow after WW1.

Simultaneously, black people suffered with promises made to them after Reconstruction unfulfilled. Jim Crow laws were initiated and segregation was in full swing in the South and spreading North.

G R E AT M I S S I S S I P P I F L O O D The Great Mississippi flood of 1927 was the time Herbert Hoover was over the Red Cross. He did little to aid Black people during this flood.

Many black people died by drowning. They were not rescued and were devastated because of lack of basic care. As white people were rescued from the flood, they sang a song, “Bye, Bye, Black Bird,” as Black people were left to drown.

HERBERT HOOVER Herbert Hoover wanted to be president and made promises to Black leaders if they would vote for him to become President, he would help black people and pass laws to stop lynching. Hoover won the presidency with the aid of black people but did not fulfill promises that he made, and lynching continued along with other atrocities.

HERBERT HOOVER He was president from 1929- 1933 and the Lord struck this country with the Great Depression in 1929, during the beginning of Hoover’s administration while the country was in peril of falling. Here is where our count down begins, 1929 began the latter days. The US was in peril of falling. The Great Depression affected the whole world as did the Dust Bowl. The economies of the world were also in peril of falling as well.

Herbert Hoover was the first contrary feather.
