



The June heat hung heavy over Gary, Indiana, but inside the Jones household, the living room felt cool and peaceful.
Ten-year-old Billie Tatum Jones sat on the rug, gently watching his little sister, Frannie.
As the oldest of the three siblings, Billie always kept a protective eye on them.
Frannie, who had autism, was happily lost in her own world, rhythmically spinning her favorite shiny blue button between her fingers. Their middle brother, Shawn, was stretched out nearby, listening intently as their parents, Calvin and Larissa, opened the family Bible for Sabbath lessons.
