IRNS Investment Ready Nature in Scotland

Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park: landscape-scale green finance beyond carbon LLTNP are working with the Landscape Finance Lab to understand options for financing restoration activities, at scale, beyond PCC and WCC. To date, ca. 60 interviews have been conducted, as well as research to benchmark best and current practices in the green finance arena.

Key areas of focus include: Endowment fund & governance options Planning requirements & biodiversity Commercial forestry contribution scheme Data, digitisation, and tourism contribution scheme.

The Flow Country Green Finance Initiative is a locally-led initiative to to restore peatlands at scale.

FCGFI will establish a new model for peatland restoration which blends public and private finance to facilitate a just transition, reduce emissions, sequester carbon, benefit biodiversity, communities and the local economy.

Our IRNS funded goals will - Establish the SCIO its Board and Trustees - Complete community consultations across the region - Set up the principles of community benefit - Develop the financial model and support restoration pilots - Build the the long-term model for the SCIO and special purpose vehicles (SPV) This is a vital part of Scotland’s net zero ambitions, and we’re proud to be leading the way.

Making the Most of our Natural Capital • Our primary Purpose is as a Nature Reserve • We’re developing an investment plan • The plan will primarily work with our built assets to build an unrestricted income stream for the reserve

• Our options appraisal takes into account community wants/ needs, market, social/ environmental/ economic impacts, architectural feasibility, investment & profitability • The chosen investment options will deliver an unrestricted income stream to the reserve.
