Report Where the Electronics Supply Chain
The Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) experienced a one-of-a-kind year in 2022. It was a year of much progress, event comebacks (after years of hiatus) and many accomplishments thanks to the continued support of our valued members. In addition, our member leaders have kept their vision and goals strong for the Association and that is what has brought us back on top.
Our member companies, ECIA staff, our Board of Directors, Councils and Committees have continued the important work of the association “to improve the business environment for the authorized sale of electronic components.”
We are looking forward to continued success. For 2023, we encourage you to get your teams involved – have them visit the ECIA website, create a profile, participate on a committee or webinar, and access the on-demand content available. We firmly believe that by working together, our members can solve some of the most difficult problems facing our industry. So please join your fellow members and participate!
Thank you for your membership and for a great year. Let’s see what we all accomplished together in the last year.

2022 – What Did We Accomplish?
Captured Our Industry’s History …
ECIA assisted in the creation of a historical document that recognizes the visionaries and founders of our industry, the companies that made a difference, technology, operational advancements, and the Association - which has helped spur the growth and value of the channel. This e-book recognizes 100 Years of the Authorized Channel.
This e-book celebrates our past and delve into the future! The historical document recognizes the visionaries and founders of our industry, the companies that made a difference, technology, operational advancements, and the Association
Influenced Best Practices, Guidelines and Policies …
The Global Industry Practices Committee (GIPC) provides a forum to discuss processes in the authorized channel that drive best practices within our industry. The GIPC members on this committee work to identify common global problems and issues, formally organize with Subject Matter Experts to research the issues, provide guidance and areas for consideration, and then help drive adoption with the ECIA Board of Directors and Councils. This activity results in the construction of guidelines, specifications, position papers and best practice documents for the electronic components authorized channel.

For several years the ECIA Foundation, led by Foundation President Jim Kaplan, envisioned establishing basic training for new employees to the electronics industry. Working with a committee and ECIA Service Partner, Lectrix Group, an introductory series of 5 courses were created. The courses are hosted on the ECIA website for all members to use as part of their annual dues! Phase II is in the works and will be released Q1 of 2023.
There are currently 800 active learners with 95% positive reviews. ECIA is grateful for the many PACE donors making this training possible.

Development of Industry Standards
ECIA, through its EIA Standards Committee (ESC), provides a unique forum for the discussion of technical issues and development of industry standards that drive the manufacture, application and use of electronic component products and systems on a global basis. These voluntary industry standards carry the “EIA Standards” trademark and are developed in accordance with, and accredited by, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). In addition, EIA Standards Committees have the flexibility to produce guidelines, handbooks and other documents to address industry issues when the formal standards process is not required. EIA Technical Standards can be purchased at the ECIA Store
EIA Standards 2022 Accomplishments included 442 standards in progress as well as 223 companies over the 23 standards groups. There were 512 participating individuals over the 23 standards groups.
