TELEVISION GUIDE
Wednesday September 12, to Tuesday September 18, 2012 Highlights this week 1. Kathy Bates and James Caan put on a two-hander tour de force in Misery (Gem, Sunday, 8.30pm), based on a Stephen King novel. An author’s ‘number one fan’ (Bates) takes her hero (Caan) captive, a fate King must have mused over a lot. Bates deservedly won the best actor Oscar for her role. Incidentally, the movie was remade in India as Julie Ganapathi. 2. Well, is it a thriller or a comedy? The critics’ summary seems to be ‘noir-romance’. The Danish film Just Another Love Story (SBS2, Tuesday, 9.30pm) involves an amnesia victim who mistakes the man who may have caused her car accident for her new boyfriend from overseas. The ‘new boyfriend’ plays along. Whatever the genre, it scored well on rottentomatoes. com. 3. By the way, if you’re tempted to watch Swordfish (Go!, Saturday, 8.30pm) because it has John Travolta, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman in it, don’t bother. It’s a complete mongrel.
