TELEVISION GUIDE Wednesday May 2 to Tuesday May 8, 2012 Highlights this week 1. If you can imagine Sandra Bullock (seen here with Bradley Cooper) as a nerdy crossword puzzle writer, you can imagine anything. All About Steve (TEN, Saturday, 9.55pm) is in the running for one of the worst romantic comedies of all time. The film was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Actress (Bullock), Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Couple. The film ultimately won Worst Actress and Worst Screen Couple. A good sport, Bullock accepted the Razzie for Worst Actress, giving out a copy of All About Steve to each member of the audience, promising to attend next year if they all watched to consider if it was ‘truly the worst performance’. Her effort is particularly annoying for her repeated snorting laughter, which may have led viewers to give the film only six per cent (!) on the Tomatometer. 2. From the days when romantic comedies were sweet, Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine star in the 1960 hit The Apartment (ABC1, Sunday, 11pm), directed by the great Billy Wilder. It was Wilder’s follow-up to Some Like It Hot, another great comedy. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards, and won five, including Best Picture. As usual Lemmon plays the sad loner who lusts after the elevator operator (Maclaine). Many misunderstandings ensue.
