TELEVISION GUIDE Wednesday January 30, to Tuesday February 5, 2013 Highlights this week 1. Michael Douglas stars in Falling Down (GO!, Saturday, 9.50pm), a surprisingly intelligent choice for director Joel Schumacher. Like a dark parable by J G Ballard, it explores the life of a white-collar worker who loses it in a traffic jam and then goes on a rampage, physical and verbal, against the ills of contemporary ‘civilisation’. It is preceded by The Golden Compass, a hi-tech attempt to capture the feel of Philip Pullman’s novels. 2. Our Melissa (George) stars in the superior horror film Triangle (GO!, Sunday, 9.30pm). Stranded at sea, she and her friends board a large cruise ship which hoves into view, only to find no one on deck. ‘What they find are a set of car keys that are exactly like the set that Jess [George] carries.’ It’s a puzzle as well as a nightmare.
