Mums concerned about the government’s lack of climate change policy gathered outside the Byron Library last Friday. The action also promoted a public breast/bottle feeding nurse-in. Pictured are Isabel and Romona with other nursing mothers and fathers unhappy with the idea of extinction. Meanwhile in Lismore on Friday, around 200 people gathered outside Nationals MP, Kevin Hogan’s office, declaring he has ‘blood on his hands’ as the federal government continues to refuse to take real action on climate change. A young girl from the Byron hinterland is lucky to be alive and is facing a long recovery following a snakebite on Tuesday November 19. A Go-Fund-Me (GFM) page to help London, her parents and her four younger siblings has been created to help cover costs. After being stabilised by a medical team at Lismore Base Hospital she was flown by helicopter to the Queensland Children’s Hospital as her condition worsened. According to the Go-Fund-Me (GFM) page, owing to the damage to her muscles from both the snake bite and anti-venom, she is breathing via tubes and is yet to open her eyes. She will have a tracheotomy later in the week so the tubes can be removed. London will remain unable to breath on her own until her muscles, including those she needs to breathe, begin to re-build. Her mother says on the GFM page that ‘her numbers are all trending back towards normal so the toxins are almost gone and we can work on repair.’ Q To help London and her family, visit https://bit.ly/2P98og3.
