A Chronos is defined as scientifically measurable time in order to sustain a specific chronology . However, Kairos stands for the supreme moment where can only be experienced through specific circumstances. The intertwining of time and space is critical not only to perceive the very moment of experience, but also to grasp its uniqueness.

Bath Interior

The bath culture divides people based on their gender with thick and opaque walls. The mysticity of the other side has been also take place in the world’s art and history after enlightment era. Irigaray highlights that relationships between one another makes both sides exist. Based on her gender relationship concept and Bergson’s “La duree” concept, Thermal Spa program is developed where tradition and nature collide and borders are questioned.

Aristotle described the concept as, “the time and space context in which the proof will be delivered”. The project is a thermal spa complex in Kaz Mountains in Eagean part of Turkey where various mythologies were arised from. Kairos Thermal Hub contains thermal baths, traditional Turkish bath and accomodation which welcomes its users in every season.

Flocking behaviour is a complex cumulative system which could be accomplished by interaction of the members in the system. ^^The flock in BUYUKada is a continuous state + settlement where it constantly transforms within BUYUKada’s coded data.^^ By applying 3 critical rules of Flocking behaviour, completely vague and new settlement will occur in consideration of Buyukada’s bipolarity in density and conditions in different seasons.

Based on the most extreme data received from //Wave//Wind//Pop each season, yearly route of the flock(neighborhood is coded. The possible route changing through seasons is simulated in gRasshopper Anemone Plug-in by using the three parameters of the island.

The Flock Project questions the controversy in “the planned the unplanned” through an alternative dwelling system in Buyukada. Based on the flocking behaviour simulation created by Craig Reynold, self regulating systems, autonomous spaces and ﬂuid geometry are intestigated. Constructor drones will modify the backbone of the dwelling and collaborate with the high tech skin. Drones detect the geographical features of the area and modify or even relocate some part of the house in the changing seasons.

Antwerp is used to be known as the center of the international economy because of its canals and trading sea transportation.Improvement of new roads, canals, railroads and cheap labor characterized the area as an industrial district which result in strictly divided zones and increase in immigrant population. Growing population of the site, has the need of new dwelling in the plot. Through the years, the aging problem on population becomes evident which causes another social unbalance. In consideration of these demographical issues, divisible houses are proposed which enables the users split or combine houses due to the need of space.

The rainwater is sunken from the outlet points automatically into the pump chamber for the filtration of the water to be used in the houses for flushing. The system is an alternative way of the purification system in the opposide side of the road which is the largest water puryfication system for the cleaning the canal of Loebrodok. Consequently the neighborhood gain a system inside of itself for a sustainable water cycle.

Embodying the Experiences: an Attempt of Architecture

In this design experiment, main motivation is not an architectural conceptor context within; it is the narrations of bodily experiences shifting into architectural places. The source of the experimental design is a collage book with quotations from various authors and theoricians such as Virgina Woolf and Kwinter, This collage has no order or a certain consistence. The book is a blur. Designers read the book to decipher the experiences or thoughts of characters,as if all feelings and relations among them are symbols of places. As the scape is designed, the blurred book becomes apparent by the places of embodiment, meanwhile exceeding the contradictory architecture.

The reality of Büyükada is not absolute. It is bipolar; its character changes dramatically in different seasons; the island acts as a threshold in between isolation and overcrowd. It is also able to hide Istanbul’s urban life with its nature in critical points of views.

Especially Yörükali Beach ignores Istanbul silhouette in its own perspective; it hacks the sense of direction and recodes the location with its characteristics.

These openings represents different eyes that see different realities of Büyükada. The proposal synthesises multiple realities simultaneously in order to create an alive section of Büyükada’s essence.

Sketching Saray Cinema Hall through interviews and research essays

In every old Turkish movies, Istiklal street was shown in pan shot to show the energy the metropolitan Istanbul life. Now the district has been sadly transforming into a monofunctional space with the poor urban transformation projects. In order to the resist the erosion of city identity, collective memory should be activated. Rossi emphasizes on “collective memory, as the relationship of the collective to its place” indicating “the urban structure, its individuality and its architecture”.

In order to recreate the erased spaces from the urban consciousness, I created endangered cinema hall map and researched written text, traced verbal interviews in the emphasis on collective memory. By embracing mapping and rendering techniques, I visualized the interior of the spaces based on the oral history and experiences of others. Actors as the cinema buildings are emphasized in this research as the cinema has the ability to record the time and show it to different people in order to provide them to see the experience in other ones’ eyes.

With the 15 undergraduate local and exchange students, the atmosphere was drawn in PiĹ&#x;irici Kasteli which is a Roman underground structure to preserve water in arid geography. In this 10 day workshop, The myths and realities of the city was collected by travelling around the urban city and archeological sites.

Finally, a play was written based on the urban, immigration and infrastructural problematics, and shadow puppetry was created by the students in a synagogue which was restorated as municipality building.
