CHESSINGTON SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 13/03/2026

Everyone valued • Every day an opportunity •

Every moment focused on success

Dear Parents, carers and all in the Chessington community I can’t believe that we are over the halfway point in the year already! So much is going on here at Chessington with our awesome students.

YEAR 11 Our Year 11’s have completed their second set of mock exams and have been receiving some great feedback from their teachers on how to make some final tweaks ahead of the real exams which begin on 7th May. We have already had the catering practical exam and the drama students have their practical after Easter along with the GCSE PE students so we really are at the business end of their secondary school experience and they are totally pushing themselves to reach their potential. I am lucky enough to teach a Year 11 Maths class and their efforts are hugely commendable - I have never been asked for so many past papers. There will be Easter revision sessions where staff will be in school to support targeted students with their revision and also some Saturday sessions leading up to the exams. More details to follow from Ms Jacob.

YEAR 10 Year 10 are also busy preparing for their mock exams which start after Easter, Mr Lucas and the Year 10 team have been working through a variety of revision techniques to support them.

YEAR 9 Year 9 have their Options Evening, where we had a phenomenal attendance from our families which highlights how seriously our Year 9 students are taking these important choices. There was a real buzz in the atrium which was great to see. To the right is link to our options booklet which has subject videos linked to each page.

WORLD BOOK DAY On 5th March, we celebrated World Book Day in style. Students arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing a wonderful range of stories to life around the school. Throughout the day, the library was buzzing with activity. Students took part in a World Book Day quiz, enjoyed a variety of games and activities, and entered several fun competitions. It was a fantastic celebration of reading, creativity, and the joy that books bring to our community.

STEM WEEK

SKI TRIP 2026

We started STEM week this week and Miss Corbett has been challenging our students to be creative in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics during Tutor time - I have seen some very ingenious bridges and ropes made from plastic bags alongside some great exploration into inspiring people in the STEM world. Students that have participated best will be nominated to have a whole of STEM activities next week, where we have some guest speakers coming to talk to these students but to also do further fun STEM activities.

Ski Trip preparations are well underway with dry ski slope lessons and parents’ information evening taking place ahead of our trip to Italy during the Easter holidays - I am excited about accompanying 78 of our Yr8,9 & 10’s along with 9 other staff members to conquer the snowy mountains. There will be regular updates via social media whilst on the trip. Below is a throwback to our last ski trip - just a preview of what’s coming soon.

Best wishes, Ms S Wilson Headteacher Chessington School
