The business sector is compiling a list of priority legislation for the 16th Congress which would support inclusive growth and create a level playing field. To provide members and friends with insights into the political and economic repercussions of the mid-term elections, we have invited two resource persons to give us their readings and get involved in a debate with the audience: Re-elected Governor Joey Salceda, Albay The Green Economist Governor and Father of the Albay and Manila Declarations on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change, Jose Clemente Sarte "Joey" Salceda is the current governor of Albay, Bicol. Prior to his gubernatorial position, he served as representative of Albay's third district for 9 years before being appointed by president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as her new Presidential Chief of Staff on 10 February 2007. Salceda is a known economic and business analyst. Prior to his political career, Joey worked as the research director of SBC Warburg, a division of the Swiss Bank Corporation. While working for SBC, he was given the distinction of being among the top 5 analysts in 1996 survey. Aside from his stint with SBC, Salceda served as research director of Barings Securities, Phils, where he helped the research team garner top awards in fund management. In 1995, he won Asiamoney’s Annual survey as “Best Analyst”. He was also voted “Best Economist” for four consecutive years from 1993-1996.
