ABOUT THE DAVI D ECCLES SC H OOL OF B U SI NESS

Founded in 1917 in Salt Lake City, the David Eccles School of Business educates students in the classroom and through handson learning opportunities. The school offers eight undergraduate majors, four MBAs, six other specialized graduate programs, a Ph.D. program and executive education curricula.

Approximately 6,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and executive degree programs, making the Eccles School one of the largest schools at the University of Utah. We welcome students from around the globe, with 69% of our students coming from Utah, 15% hailing from other states, and 16% joining us from international locations.

The Eccles School is home to internationally renowned faculty who engage in cutting-edge business research that keeps them at the forefront of industry knowledge and trends.

The David Eccles School of Business awards more than $5 million in scholarships each year. For the 2016-2017 academic year, the average scholarship amount was $2,270. Recipients hold an average 3.7 cumulative GPA.

The school fosters a culture and community of doers. This is a place where people get things done, ensuring Eccles students are ready to hit the ground running when they begin their careers. The Eccles School has many programs where cohorts of students move through classes, case studies and projects and engage together in extracurricular activities. Our Scholars programs provide these platforms for undergraduate students. Business Scholars — Undergraduate business education in an honors environment, including a small cohort of classmates. The program welcomes incoming freshmen and transfer students. First Ascent Scholars — Cultivates, encourages and enables academically focused students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds to reach their full academic potential. Innovation Scholars — Helps students understand the process of innovation by providing an opportunity to explore big questions and challenges that inspire them. Opportunity Scholars — Contributes to the educational experience of all students at the Eccles School by introducing first-generation students with diverse backgrounds and experiences into the academic setting. In the 2016-2017 school year, the Eccles School is launching a Refugee Program, which will provide resources and support to refugee students at the University of Utah.

Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building Completed in 2013, the Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building encompasses 188,000 square feet, with 70% of the space dedicated to student activities, including 17 state-of-theart classrooms.

C. Roland Christensen Center Named after Harvard Business School Professor C. Roland Christensen, who focused on casemethod teaching, this business classroom building facilitates hands-on, real-world learning, with four large classrooms, two seminar rooms and dozens of team discussion/ study rooms.

Thomas S. Monson Center Built in 1912 and recently renovated, the Thomas S. Monson Center is home to the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, a premier public policy research center and Eccles School initiative. The historic mansion and adjacent buildings include areas for training, seminars and lectures, classes, meetings, community dialogue and public gatherings. Its location in downtown Salt Lake City is symbolic of the institute’s role and mission to build bridges between the university and the community it serves.

Lassonde Studios Home to 400 unique student residences and a 20,000-square-foot creative space, Lassonde Studios is a place where students live, attend events, co-work, build prototypes and just hang out. Students from all majors can collaborate, create and launch new ideas from this stateof-the-art facility. Lassonde Studios is the U’s on-campus hub for innovators, makers and entrepreneurs.
