Lloyd and Nola Stevens Entrepreneurial Spirit
Memorial Scholarship
The Lloyd and Nola Stevens Memorial Scholarship was established by Larry and Sheila Stevens and their family to honor the legacy of Larry’s parents, Lloyd and Nola Stevens. Larry’s parents exemplified the American spirit of entrepreneurship as they created multiple small businesses beginning in the 1950’s to help provide for their family in the then small rural community of Sandy, Utah. Agricultural pursuits included a chicken and egg farm, fruit orchards, etc. Commercial businesses included a grocery store and a gift shop. These were all family enterprises and they provided ample opportunities for the family members to work together and for the children to gain a valuable understanding of American values. This concept of the “American dream” has always been a major driver in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Each of the three Stevens sons were called upon to serve their country in the armed forces. This service has added immensely to the feeling of patriotism and love of country that resides within the family. The Stevens family wishes to support students who likewise value the principles of patriotism and entrepreneurship.
