Covenant Youth of Alaska Special Edition: Covenant Bible Camp Update
Volume 15, Issue 4 July 2019
Covenant Bible Camp 2019! Greetings! My name is Marc Lantz and I bring this update to you following my first season serving as Camp Co-director. The ministry that takes place on the North River, outside of Unalakleet, is special in so many ways. The walls of our dining hall (“The Temple”) remind us that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves. On your first visit to camp, you are invited to sign your name on the walls surrounding our meal tables. Additionally, camp T-Shirts hang from the rafters reminding us of the multitude who have come before us to worship, to heal, and to strengthen their faith. In a world that elevates individualism, we find respite in being reminded of the importance of “sticking together” in Christian fellowship. Our camp theme was “Subsist: Finding Life in Christ”. As I reflect on my time at camp, I think of the parable of the sower (Matt. 13:1-24). I invite you to praise God with me for those who decided to follow Jesus for the very first time this summer. Eternal life abounds and the power of the
Gospel of Christ has taken root. Please pray with me that the “soil” of their hearts is rich and welcomes the Word of God. May all our campers and staff find courage to stay faithful to Christ even when the worries and troubles of life threaten our growth. Pray for the spiritual harvest to not only sustain us, but to spread into our villages and communities. Camp ministry alone cannot sustain any of us, so we all need ongoing discipleship. The challenge of isolation in a vast geography is big, but our God is bigger still. He taught us to “stick together” and bear one another’s burdens. Even greater than the names on the “Temple” walls are the names of those who partner with Covenant Youth of Alaska and the ministry of Covenant Bible Camp. Your prayers and support are an invaluable part of this ministry. I praise God for you and thank you sincerely for joining us for another summer at camp. If you have questions about how else you can get involved with this ministry, please contact me at marc@cyak.org.
