A TRIBUTE TO OUTGOING CHAIRMAN CLEMONS
After 10 incredible years of service, Erik Clemons is stepping down as Chariman of ECC/HANH’s Board of Commissioners.
Erik is the founding CEO of ConnCORP, an economic development and justice organization dedicated to community-building and addressing the issues wrought from poverty in Black communities.
The thrust of our work is to aggressively address poverty as well as inspire wealth generation and wealth creation for existing Dixwell residents. We believe in beauty. We believe in dignity and vitality.”
-Erik Clemons
With an extensive background in non-profit management and organizational leadership, Erik has spent more than 20 years serving the best interests of diverse and traditionally underserved communities.
Later, he served as the founding CEO and President of the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT), a non-profit organization that creates empowering arts-based education environments for at-risk public school students as well as training programs for under-employed and unemployed adults.
Before joining ConnCAT, Erik was the Executive Director of Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership (LEAP), which provides academic and social enrichment programs to children and youth between the ages of 5 and 23.
Erik is active on various boards and commissions including the Connecticut State Board of Education, Elm City Market and Yale-New Haven Hospital.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master of Arts in Theology and Ethics from the Hartford Seminary. He is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT.
While Erik’s time at ECC/HANH has come to a close, we’re excited for the many collaborations to come.
Thank you, Chairman Clemons!
