MEET BEN TRAMEL JOURNEY OF GROWTH
Ben Tramel was featured in ECC/HANH’s 2018 Annual Report. Four years later, we’re revisiting his story — and celebrating his success.
Raised primarily in a single-parent household, Ben calls his mother his biggest inspiration. He’s beyond grateful for the sacrifices she’s made, the close ties she’s maintained with their extended family and the person she’s emboldened him to be.
After nearly two years as a STEP Intern — while simultaneously interning for the Yale-New Haven Health System — he started working in ECC/HANH’s Information & Technology Department. Meanwhile, Ben balanced his work schedule and school responsibilities to attend intensive evening classes at Gateway Community College, where he majored in Political Science.
Landing a full-time position with The Computer Company, an ECC/HANH vendor, helped Ben save up for his very own home in Meriden, CT, which he officially purchased on March 31st, 2022. He says, “Homeownership has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Since I could remember, a goal of mine was to own a home.”
“Being able to accomplish this during a global pandemic and housing shortage was truly a blessing. Every day when I wake up, it’s still a shock to me. Nothing feels better than leaving work and being able to drive home.”
Ben credits a large part of his growth to ECC/HANH, stating, “The guidance I received from many of my coworkers, such as professional and financial advice, and other programs that helped me on my journey has always been invaluable. I take that information with me and apply it to all aspects of my life.”
His story is the epitome of what our agency stands for: supporting our residents so we can grow and win together.
