What an exciting time to be in the cattle business. It is great to see producers get rewarded with top prices while demand appears to be strong for months to come. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our family and friends that make this day possible. Thank you to our past and repeat customers for trusting in our program. Below is a note from John, as this year will be his final year on the Blue River Gang as he will be retiring. Thank you to John and his family for all the dedication, cattle, and memories made over the years! I have reached the time to put the Blue River Gang Sale behind me. I have many people to thank, especially my family. Connie has put up with me and the cattle since 1974. Joel and Royce have been partners for 20 years. The early years of the sale my silblings, children and in-laws worked the sale. Thank you to the Ruth Family for hosting the sale for over 20 years. Thank you to Russ Moravac and the ringmen, a special thanks to Marvin Bohac, who rang the early sales and made it very lively. The Bang Boys have been fitting our cattle for years, thank you. Thank you to all the good help we have had in the pens out back and all the meals over the years. The first sale was in 1982 at our place with Larry Lueders and Russ Sherman (Boothill Ranch, MT). Ruth Simmentals joined us in 1984, and Larry Mach in 1989. We renamed the sale that year to Blue River Gang – later that year Sheriff Meister came to see me and said he had a call from the FBI telling him he had a gang operting in Butler County. Deon Gocke joined the sale in 1991 and we started the futurity– Russ was contacted soon after by the Iowa and Nebraska State Fairs on how to run the futurity. The last sale at our place was in 1992, moving to York for one year and since has been at Russ and Barb’s. Joe Smola, Sloup and Knuth, and Franzen joined in 1993, leaving in 1997. A new era began in 2015 when Eberspacher Enterprises started managing our sale (thank you Val and Lori). We were sad to see Deon leave in 2016. In 2018, Nabor Farms and BADJ Cattle came on board. Unfortunately Larry and Margaret were killed in an auto accident in 2020 – Larry sold a heifer to Darby Line in an earlier sale that has become the #2 female in the Simmental breed for progeny sales. As I leave AI, Tyler Kocian will continue the Angus bloodlines we have been selling. Thank you to our loyal customers and all who have worked so hard at these sales for years.

Here are two full sib heifers out of our newest Donor ICandi that we purchased off of the T-T Dispersal a few years back. Icandi had a very successful show career with highest honors being Reserve Simmental Heifer in NE. If you like chrome the L050 heifer is for you, study this one she is put together very well, with plenty of body and ties into an elegant front third. The L050 would be a great candidate to make show stock down the road! The L944 heifer offers more performance and power out of the two. She is very complete and excels on the move.
