Garbanzo soup or bean soup can be mixed with all kinds of vegetables, but our favourite is with red beans, parsley leaves, and cumin to create a wonderfully rich taste.

Spanish cuisine has a huge variety of traditional soups and some of these are transferred from one generation to the next one. For this reason, these Spanish soup recipes bring people closer to the culture of their regions.

Then you will only need a pan and a pot to make the soup, and even if you want you can make the entire recipe in the same pot.

For example, the most expensive ingredient in the recipe is white beans, and all the others are condiments that you can find in your pantry and a couple of vegetables that you can replace according to your personal taste.

Ingredients • 300 g cooked beans • Optional: 150 g cooked chickpeas • Optional: 100 g elbow macaroni • 1 liter chicken broth (or water) • 4 leeks • 250ml white wine • 2 garlic cloves • 4 tablespoons fresh parsley • 1 teaspoon saffron • 1 teaspoon paprika • 1 teaspoon turmeric • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper • Optional: Spanish chorizo

Beans are excellent sources of dietary fiber, protein, B vitamins, and many other important vitamins and minerals. There is some evidence that they can help reduce blood sugar, boost heart health, and maintain a healthy gut. However beans can cause gas because they contain a particular type of sugar, called an oligosaccharide, that the human body cannot fully digest.

This soup is extremely popular in times of economic crisis. You only need few ingredients and they can be found at a low price.

Enjoy with nice people, a good glass of wine or beer and be sure to have a great conversation while eating.

Remove the leaves and the roots of the leek and chop it in small pieces. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them. In a saucepan sauté them at medium heat in olive oil for 1 to 2 minutes. Before they get any colour, add leek, salt, and pepper, and turn the heat to a low temperature. Cook the leek until it gets a soft texture, but prevent them from getting any Transfercolour.the vegetables from the saucepan into a large pot. Then add white wine and cook until the alcohol evaporates.

Add chicken broth (or water), cook for 10 minutes on medium heat. If you like a more rich soup you could add the optional elbow macaroni. Add saffron, turmeric, and paprika, mix until dissolved, and cook for 10 more minutes. Then add the cooked white beans, the optional chick peas and/or Spanish chorizo. Sprinkle the parsley, give it a final mix and serve warm with a thin slice of lemon on top of each soup bowl.

Many traditional cafés still serve coffee made with the torrefacto method which is slightly more bitter. Popularized during the Spanish Civil War as a way to stretch the already thin coffee supply, torrefacto involves adding sugar to the beans during the ﬁnal step of the roasting process. The high temperatures burn the sugar onto the beans, giving them a distinctly bitter taste.

Clean the partridges, season them with salt and pepper, and brown them in extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. The onions and carrots are added and cooked until they are soft. The wine, sherry vinegar, water, and herbs are added to the pan, and the dish is simmered until the meat starts to come away from the bones.

Cut the partridges in half (lengthwise), and present them on a plate with the cut side down. Then cover them with the onions, carrots and sauce before serving.

Perdices a la toledana is a great traditional Spanish game dish originating from Toledo. This authentic fall dish is made with a combination of a whole partridge, onions, carrots, sherry vinegar, parsley, dry white wine, olive oil, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and bay leaves.

Perdices a la Toledana Partridge is a delicacy that you simply can’t afford to miss out on. Evidence suggests that it has been eaten since at least the Roman era. Later on, after the evolution of hunting during the Middle Ages, partridge became a delicacy reserved for the wealthy. Toledo-style partridge (perdiz a la Toledana) harks back to that era and the city’s aristocratic past, being the seat of monarchial power from the 12th to the 16th century. Partridges are hunted in fall and even in winter. It is often the centrepiece of Christmas tables.

You could hunt for your own Partridges in Spain or just buy them. Partridge shooting in Spain is famous world-wide. The Red Legged Partridge is considered as the sportiest bird in the world. Because of its speed and irregular flight, they are a very challenging bird to hunt.

• A glass of white wine dash of sherry vinegar a glass of water pepper

In mindfulness meditation, we’re learning how to pay attention to your breath as it goes in and out, and notice when the mind wanders from this task.

How to meditate

1) Take a seat. Find place to sit that feels calm and quiet to you.

It’s estimated that 95% of our behaviour runs on autopilot. That’s because neural networks underlie all of our habits, reducing our millions of sensory inputs per second into manageable shortcuts so we can function in this crazy world. These default brain signals are so efficient that they often cause us to relapse into old behaviours before we remember what we meant to do instead. Mindfulness is the exact opposite of these default processes.

Meditation tips and techniques

How much should i meditate?

It’s executive control rather than autopilot, and enables intentional actions, willpower, and decisions. But that takes practice. The more we activate the intentional brain, the stronger it gets. Every time we do something deliberate and new, we stimulate neuroplasticity, activating our grey matter, which is full of newly sprouted neurons that have not yet been groomed for “autopilot” brain.

You focus your attention, your mind wanders, you bring it back, and you try to do it as kindly as possible (as many times as you need to).

Make mindfulness a habit

While our intentional brain knows what is best for us, our autopilot brain causes us to shortcut our way through life. So how can we trigger ourselves to be mindful when we need it most? This is where the

But all of these practices have one thing in common: We notice that our minds ARE running the show a lot of the time. It’s true. We think thoughts, typically, and then we act. Strengthen your brain

notion of “behavior design” comes in. It’s a way to put your intentional brain in the driver’s seat. There are two ways to do that. First, slowing down the autopilot brain by putting obstacles in its way, and second, removing obstacles in the path of the intentional brain, so it can gain control. Shifting the balance to give your intentional brain more power takes some work, though. Here are some ways to get started. You could try a series of “If this, then that” messages to create easy reminders to shift into the intentional brain. For instance, you might come up with, “If office door, then deep breath,” as a way to shift into mindfulness as you are about to start your workday. Or, “If phone rings, take a breath before answering.” Each intentional action to shift into mindfulness will strengthen your intentional brain.

Art Back To The Future painted by artist Peter Engels

In the movie “Back To The Future” Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) travel in time. In the large painting (100 x 200 cm) that artist Peter Engels painted, we see the two main actors with their Delorean time machine

Peter Engels previously auctioned the portrait of Daniel Craig in a James Bond auction. The painting is now in a large 007 collection in London.

For this Back To The Future artpiece Peter Engels used a special colour combination, pink and teal, to emphasize the nighttime effect. This one-off original painting comes with certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. It is mainly painted with the pallet knife on high quality Brussels cotton canvas stretched on an aluminium museum quality frame.

International artist

Prince Albert of Monaco bought the portrait painting of his mother, Princess Grace NicoleKelly.Kidman stayed temporarily in Peter Engels’ home village and he painted her Vintage Portrait. He painted the portrait of Estée Lauder to decorate her villa in Cannes, in the South of France.

The portrait of Brigitte Bardot undressing also went under the hammer in a movie memorabilia auction. The sensual artwork departed for its new, loving home in Rome. In the Star Wars themed auction, the portrait of Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill was sold to the highest bidder, the Saber Museum in Singapore. They promptly ordered 2 more Star Wars portraits.

Virgin boss Richard Branson had himself painted ‘live’. When Karl Lagerfeld saw his portrait thzt Peter Engels painted, he called this Belgian artist the ‘painter of the soul’.
