Ostras de Cambados Cambados is a small fishing port, near Pontevedra, north of Vigo, in Galicia.

Its several varieties of oysters are a well-known delicacy. About 95% of flat oysters consumed in Spain originate from this village. However, these are the European flat oysters called Ostrea edulis. Their shells are not large nor particularly heavy, suggesting a fairly rapid growth due to the strong Atlantic tides and currents.

They are fleshy with a good chew and have a rich variety of flavours. Being so close to Santiago de Compostela, the area deserves an oyster pilgrimage some day.

Largest European producer With its 8,000 km of coastline Spain 30

is by far the biggest producer of flat oysters in Europe for the last decades, producing well over half the world production. But in comparison to other marine cultured species, the commercial yield of oysters has been very small. In the last forty years the number of oyster enterprises has decreased by more than 90% from around 900 to less than 80 aqua farms.

Raft and rope culture the most used methods to grow oysters are the floating-rafts culture and secondly the more traditional rope suspension.

Wine and oyster festival The region is also famous for its delicious Albariño white wine and Cambados is also regarded as its capital. On the first Sunday of August every year the Albariño wine festival is held. It makes, of course, for a wonderful, fresh and natural combination with seafood and in particular with the native oysters. Being so close to Santiago de Compostela, the area richly deserves an oyster pilgrimage some day.

World’s best oysters come from Delta de l’Ebre, Catalonia When you think of eating oysters in Europe, you may automatically think of France. However the area of the Delta de l’Ebre in Catalonia, produces such excellent oysters that actually 80% of these are exported to France.

Imported oysters from France?

The delicious taste of the oysters from the Delta de l’Ebre is the result of the influence of both the sweet fresh water of the River Ebro and the salty water of the Mediterranean. The Delta oysters have a silky texture and a lovely, distinctive flavour.

How to savour oysters?

Aficionados recommend not adding

lemon juice to them, but leaving them linger on your tongue for a while, to let the flavours escape. Of course this breaks the normal rules of how we eat oysters, but when you’re sitting in the sunshine of the superb, unique landscape of the Delta de l’Ebre, washing your oysters down with cava, you won’t see this as a problem.

Are Oysters an Aphrodisiac?

For ages people have searched for foods or drinks that could turn on desire. Chocolate, honey, saffron and many other delicacies and supplements are thought to ignite the passion in your love life. Oysters have been a reputed aphrodisiac at least since the Roman Empire, and supposedly were regularly enjoyed as a virility-booster by the illustrious Casanova. So where there is smoke...

Oysters and cava, a gourmet pleasure Oysters and sparkling wines such as cava are subconsciously associated with gourmet pleasure, with an outing in good company, with the luxury that we all deserve at one point or another.

INGREDIENTS

• 24 oysters, on the half shell • 50 g unsalted butter, melted • 2 slices jamon, finely chopped • 1/2 teaspoon dark sugar For the cava dressing: • 60 ml cava • 2 teaspoons sherry vinegar • 3 teaspoons red onion finely chopped • 1 tablespoon flat-leaf parsley finely chopped • Sea salt and black pepper

METHOD • • • • • • •

For the cava dressing, combine the ingredients in a bowl Season with sea salt and black pepper Put the oysters on a baking tray Mix the melted butter, jamon and sugar in a bowl Spoon over the oysters and keep some to serve separately Grill for 2 minutes until the jamon is a bit crispy Drizzle each oyster with the cava dressing and keep some to serve separately • Serve with a glass of chilled cava, of course!

Harley-Davidson is considered to be the world’s most iconic motorcycle brand, recognised around the globe as a symbol of personal expression and individual freedom.

We took it’s electric version, the LiveWire, for a spin. It turned out to be amazing on the Spanish little roads.

GANGSTERS & EXECUTIVES The brand logo is embraced by a diverse clan of leather dressed one percenters, neck tattooed gangsters and middleaged executives. Harleys are big, shiney and have a loud, deep masculine testosterone presence on the road. The power is incredible and its satisfying rumble, is addictive.

ELECTRIC TIMES But times are changing. Harley-Davidson has built the next generation of motorcycle, an electric one, named LiveWire.

It certainly won’t be appreciated by old school traditionalists who love the bottom end rumble, the meaty thud as you put it into first, the fear-mongering roar as your throttle past the traffic.

ROCKET SCIENCE No gears, no clutch, just twist and go.

From standstill to 100 km in around 3.5 seconds. The new macho is smart tech and sustainability that looks tough. This Harley-Davidson still is a member of the sex-on-wheels club.

INSTANT TORQUE The LiveWire feels light and very manoeuvrable. The weight is down low, so you feel well-balanced, even when leaning into corners. It instantly produces 100% of its torque.

HIGH TECH LiveWire is packed with tech. There’s four preset modes and three customisable ones. Each controls the performance characteristics and level of electronic intervention. Low speed manoeuvrability without a clutch was easy in the preset of “road mode” selected via a small thumb operated joystick on the right handlebar.

great for learner riders. The top speed of 177 km per hour is limited to save battery power. The active mode is displayed as a symbol on the colour touchscreen between the handlebars and is the dimensions of a landscape, plus sized phone.

GROUND BRAKING Some of the ground-breaking tech has been trade marked by Harley. Like the “Reflex” Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS). It’s a collection of technology designed to match motorcycle performance to available traction during acceleration, deceleration and braking. The systems are designed to aid the rider in controlling the vehicle while accelerating and braking in a straight line or while in a turn. More experienced riders have the option of switching these systems off.

RAIN MODE Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) is a variant of ABS that takes the lean angle of the motorcycle into consideration. There Rear-wheel Lift Mitigation mean no burn outs and CTCS is designed to support Front-Wheel Lift. In other words, no wheelies unless switched off.

NEW SIGNATURE SOUND The least restrictive mode is Sports Mode.

This bike sounds like a jet approaching when it hits high speed. Not so much in volume, more in pitch. Harley call it their new signature sound. The electric engine is only visually cool, it’s cool to touch, even after a long drive.

RADIUS The battery offers 235 km of city riding, but only 152 km of mixed urban and freeway. This may not matter to a com-

muter, but if you are a weekend rider enjoying the little roads, it is a problem.

Harley includes a level one charger that plugs into a standard household outlet and you can charge overnight at home at about 20 km per hour. Out and about you’ll need an EV charging station. DC fast charge technology provides up to 80% of battery charge in 40 minutes

and to 100 % in 60 minutes. Despite the range and charging, Harley-Davidson has created a great motorcycle for a new generation of riders prepared to pay 45K to own one.

Whether you’re ready or not for electric motorcycles, you’ll still find the Harley-Davidson LiveWire enticing.

Just like the rest of the world Spain also loves designer Christian Louboutin and his towering stilettos with red soles. Louboutin’s shoe brand has been declared the most Prestigious Women’s Shoes for several years in a row. This Frenchman transformed women’s shoes. His iconic red-soled shoes sell off the charts, which is surprising considering the price tags.

Egyptian pharao Christian Louboutin was born and raised in Paris. He is the son of cabinet-maker Roger and Irene Louboutin, both originating from Brittany. Being much darker than his three sisters, Louboutin always felt that maybe he had been adopted. This didn’t depress him.

Instead he invented his own history, full of colourful characters from Egypt because he was really into the pharaohs. It was only at the age of 51 that he discovered that his biological father was an Egyptian with 80

Sarah Jessica Parker wore his shoes for her wedding. But Louboutin’s single biggest client is the American novelist Danielle Steele who reputedly owns about 6000 pairs of his shoes.

She is said to have purchased 80 pairs at a time. Louboutins can sell from 500 euros and up, with crystal-encrusted pairs costing up to 6,000 euros. The base price for a custom-made pair of Louboutin is 3,200 euros. There are 2 Louboutin stores in Spain. One in Madrid and the other in Barcelona.

A beautiful movie.

The first time I walked into her house, she saw that I was shy. But, she didn’t say anything. She took of her jacket and went to the kitchen to get something to drink. I went into her room and took the remote controle of her nightstand, and turned the movie A star is Born On and pressed pause.

She stood in the kitchen to pour us some drinks and i went to go take a look. I saw the girl of my dreams standing inside The kitchen. When she looked at me for longer than five seconds, I texted my friends they would have to miss me For a while.

In the afternoon we watched the movie But we barely saw anything and yet i was still waiting for that one scène. The one with Bradley Cooper laying on a parking lot with his Dreamgirl in his arms. His big jacket protected her against the cold. You can only see the face of the women and the body of Bradley Cooper. You can see the warmth and loved of these two souls.

Three months after that is this girl became my girlfriend. She got a closed note with the question if she wanted to become my girlfriend.

She wasn’t allowed to open the note until I said so. In the afternoon somewhere in September we we’re laying in bed and i told her she could open the note. She said yes and that was the start of a beautiful beginning.

Back in the days when she made lemonade, I was still a boy who could not care less. I did not own a lot, i did not own a house, a car, But i had a litlle bit of talent. She had everything, a house, a drivers license and a good paycheck.

I try to pull myself up to her in everything.

I pull myself up to here and sometimes she whispers in my ear that I can let go and start to fly. She turns our love into a beautiful exercise.

She makes a circus of my heart, because I tiptoe around, carrying her on my hands.

My girlfriend is still sleeping and i looked at her. The only thing i can think of when i look at her is how beautiful she is. On her nightstand there are standing two glasses of lemonade. The happiest time of my life started by a beautiful girl pouring me some lemonade.

I Will count The glasses for The rest of our lives and this are more glasses that i could ever dream of.

I see two people laying on The Parking lot. I see the sweetest thing i have ever seen. I see her in my jacket and I see my body.

I hope she wants to live there forever.

Several films are screened daily, mainly educational documentaries of no more than 45 minutes which are suitable for all audiences. You will receive a pair of innovative 3D glasses with your ticket enabling you to change the screening language.

If you are travelling with children, there is usually a film geared towards children once a day. We recommend that you check the film listings and reserve the screening that you would like to see before starting your visit to other buildings of the City of Arts and Sciences.

The Príncipe Felipe Science Museum offers different interactive exhibitions about science and technology. You can visit without entering the ground floor, where there is usually a temporary exhibition, some shops, the bathrooms and a restaurant. You will need a ticket for the remaining exhibitions. The Museum also offers scientific workshops for all visitors for which you will have to buy a separate ticket.

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Opera house If you are a music-lover then this is the place for you at the City of Arts and Sciences. Its programme 124

includes operas, concerts, zarzuela and ballet. When not being used for performances, you can visit the building by booking in advance on the website.

The Umbracle This more than 17,000m2 garden is filled with typical Mediterranean plants and contemporary sculptures.

Terraza Mya opens its doors at night during the summer months, where you can have a drink under the moonlight.

The public car park of the City of Arts and Sciences is located just below the Umbracle.

The Ágora The most recent building at the City of Arts and Sciences, the Ágora is a versatile venue hosting a wide variety

of events. It is not usually open to the public and cannot be visited.

The Assut D’or Bridge Also work of the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, the Assut D’or Bridge crosses the former riverbed of

the River Turia, between the Science Museum and the Ágora. There are several lanes for traffic in both directions and there is a pedestrian bridge in the centre connecting the two banks of the Turia Gardens.
