EM Abacus Building Blocks (EM ABB) employs a progressive learning approach to enhance students’ fundamental mental math abilities, while also improving listening and processing skills. Acknowledging the diverse learning preferences, we have integrated visual, kinesthetic and auditory learning strategies within our program through the use of both a digital and physical abacus as manipulative tools. Our programming also incorporates a game-based approach to make learning fun and engaging for our students. The Easy Math Abacus image exercises and high-speed hearing allow students to practice using the left hemisphere (logical side) to manipulate the right hemisphere (abstract side) simultaneously. The exercises in the program were uniquely designed to nurture and strengthen brain function and can result in numerous cognitive benefits such as: improved concentration, developed memory capacity, spatial reasoning, creativity and problem-solving skills. EM ABB2-Block 2 is the second part of the EM ABB2 digital book series for teachers, parents and caregivers of preschoolers and kindergarten students. Expanding on the previous unit, students will continue practicing addition and subtraction with the method of complements (of five and ten). Students will further enhance their mental math skills, improving their numerical fluency and confidence in mathematics.
