A team of students from East Texas Baptist University’s Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) recently spent a week serving and evangelizing in the Pacific Northwest, partnering with Northwest Collegiate Ministry and Epic Life Church in Seattle, Washington.

“Truth be told, ministry in Seattle is a challenge,” ETBU Dean of Spiritual Life Dr. David Griffin said. “Many people we visited with had no conception of the one true and living God and a very scant understanding of what Christians are like. However, they were kind and open to discussion. Truly, our Christian brothers and sisters in the Northwest need our prayer and support.

Join Us for Hymn Sing 2025

Join us for the Great East Texas Hymn Sing on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Baker Chapel. Each year, the University community and individuals and church groups from Texas and surrounding states gather in the Rogers Spiritual Life Center to praise

the Lord through hymns, fellowship, and sacred songs. This FREE event draws hundreds of participants each year for a meaningful afternoon of praise and worship.

Brooks Lloyd ('17)

Mr. Brooks Lloyd (’17) earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology here on the Hill and then went on to earn his master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from LSU Health. Brooks is currently an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist, working in Outpatient Therapy for Baylor Scott and White at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Brooks shares, "The support I received at ETBU and the memories I made helped shape the man that I am and the one I am still becoming."

Tigers Making Headlines

ETBU Tops in NCAA Division III

It was a banner year for East Texas Baptist University athletics as they recorded their highest finish in the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors' Cup at 70th. The ETBU Tigers are the top American Southwest Conference school in 2024-25 rankings, finishing with 289.00 points. Read more.

ETBU’s Top Boat is 52nd at Bassmasters National Championship

Tradition Continued for the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Bass Fishing program as they participated in the 2025 Strike King Bassmaster College National Championship Tournament presented by Bass Pro Shops. ETBU had three boats in the tournament, with the top boat coming in 52nd place out of the field of 154 collegiate angler teams. Read more.
