Cambo Institute
Snowdrops by Starlight An enchanting family experience at Cambo from 11—19 February 2012
Banish the winter blues with a visit to Cambo Snowdrops in February and early March. Enjoy the 70 acres of woodland walks which follow the Cambo burn as it meanders down to the sea, delighting in the magical display of snowdrops, playing with the mischievous piglets or learning more about the collection of over 300 varieties on a daily snowdrop walk with a gardener. Run by Cambo Estate’s charity, Cambo Insitute, and thanks to funding from EventScotland and Fife Strategic Events and sponsorship from the R and A, **Snowdrops by Starlight** will take place each evening from 11 to 19 February creating a magical wonderland. Art and sculpture will feature in the magnificent

old stable block, which is to become the visitor centre for the gardens, and throughout the snowdrop woodlands. Funded by a Fife Community Events Grant Jon Warnes will make lanterns with local schoolchildren - these to be used by visitors to **Snowdrops by Starlight** and Lizzie McDougal’s hopes her storytelling sessions (funded by Fife Locality Fund) will encourage the fairies to make an appearance. (Lizzie helped children make fairy wishes at the Octoberfest in 2011.) And on 4 March learn more about our skies with the Dark Skies team from Edinburgh Observatory.

Hot Stone Therapy An age old therapy dating back 5000 years Hot stone massage therapy is an age old therapy dating back 5000 years to India and most certainly even the Mayan culture. Ayurveda, the ancient healing tradition of India, spoke of a universal source of life. The energy called “Prana” is the energy, or the breath of life which moves through all forms to give them life. Yogis work with this energy with breathing techniques, meditation, physical exercise and massage to produce altered states of conciousness, healing and longevity. They would not only use their hands for manipulation and healing but also utilise “Tools” the earth woud provide such as herbs, flowers, crystals and stones. Stone massage therapy came from the healers using rocks from the riverbeds and warming them either in hot coals or hot water. By placing the hot stones on a cloth on
the body and arranging them along the energy centres of the body a healing process would occur. The hot stones have a tendency to relax the muscles and draw out muscle pain and discomfort. The hot stones seem to connect the flow of paths of energy together in order to rebalance the physical body, emotional mind and soaring spirit as one. As the stones cool the healer replaces them with hot stones again. The feet are extremely energy sensitive and are also stimulated in hot stone massage with tiny stones placed between the toes.

The Fly Lady Do you hate your mornings? Do you wake up in a bad mood? Do you feel like you got up on the wrong side of the bed? Your mornings do not have to be like this. All it takes is a little thought to change the CHAOS you have been living in. That little thought is as simple as knowing what clothes you are wearing when you get up. If you will think about your morning before you actually have to face it; your mornings will run smoother. It all starts with a little before bed routine. Half the battle with your morning has to do with you not being prepared to start your day. You run around in a tizzy trying to do all those last minute things you procrastinated about the night before. Here is what happens when we put something off. Let's start with our before bed routines. 1. We go to bed at 1:00 or 2:00 am and have to get up at 7:00 am. We procrastinated by not going to bed at a decent hour. Then we can't get up on time. 2. After you hit the snooze button a few times and it is 7:30 am and to get to work on time we have to leave at 7:45 am. Now you have 15 minutes to get dressed and out the door and you have no clean clothes. 3. Not only did you go to bed late, but you did not lay out your clothes for tomorrow. So there again you have procrastinated and you are rushing around. 4. Now you are feeling the time crunch and the pressure of being late to work or an appointment again. Then the guilt starts to pile on. 5. With the guilt comes blaming others and not looking at what our role was in our perpetual tardiness. Then we have martyrdom and the loud yelling voices that just add to the stress along with the guilt.

6. Now we are half dressed, jumping in a car trying to put on makeup while driving and not paying attention to what we are doing. Not to mention that you have skipped breakfast and there is not even time for a quick drive through the golden arches. Well that could be the only positive thing about rushing; no time for negative nutrition with fast food. 7. Next thing we know the blue lights are flashing in our rearview mirror and we have yet another speeding ticket to have to explain and pay for.
