Speed Up Your Metabolism
I want to be healthy and a big part of that is losing the extra pounds I’ve picked up during the years; and I know that I am not alone. Some people seem to have an easy time shedding pounds but for others you put effort into exercising and eating healthier and still you just maintain. The problem could be that our metabolism has become sluggish. Below is a list of ten things you can do to rev up your routine that should make a difference on the scale.
1. Eat plenty of protein at every meal. Eating food can temporarily increase your metabolism for a few hours.
2. Fuel up with lots of water.
3. Add high intensity aerobic workout.
4. Build Muscle by lifting heavy things.
5. Stand up every half hour.
6. Drink green tea or oolong tea. ...
7. Eat spicy foods. ...
8. Get a good night's sleep.
9. Consider low sugar energy drinks with taurine
10. Healthy snacks every 3-4 hours

New Dreamer
By, Erica H.Hello Dreamers, I am a new Dreamer. My name is Erica. I enjoy working in the HSU (Hospitality Services Unit). I am learning personal growth, and how to set goals for the future. I like the people that I work with. I like how the staff stay involved. The environment is learnable, I can easily cooperate.
The Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse has been giving me the chance to start all over again. I have met new friends and have made them apart of my family, Called the Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse family. I am coming across ways to get a job , more job training, and help out where I am needed. I wouldn’t change dreams for the world. Thanks Easterseals for introducing me your Clubhouse.

The Day After Thanksgiving
By Karen B.We all here at Dreams Unlimited had a great time here the day after Thanksgiving Irvin and Carol hosted it. We played Bingo for prizes, and Debbie here won the coverall. We ate leftovers from the Thanksgiving meal. A lot of members showed up that day, and a great time was had by all! The holidays are always fun here at clubhouse!

New Year’s Eve Day
By Karen B.On Saturday, December 31st, 2022, a lot of members at clubhouse here gathered for a craft and celebration to end the year of 2022. We all painted jars. The jars are for us to put one good thing that happens to us each day in 2023 into. At the end of 2023 we can open the jars and look at all the great things that have happened to us all year! We had a lot of fun and had pizza too with ice cream sundaes also! A great time was had by all, and we all said our goodbyes to 2022. Onwards to 2023!

The Self-Esteem Workbook
By Karen B.For the Holidays last year (2022) I got a gift card given to me by my supervisor at my TE (Transitional Employment) position that ended on December 15, 2022. I decided to use the gift card to invest in myself – something to help my mental health, so I purchased a SelfEsteem Workbook with the gift card. I’ve been told by the other clubhouse members that I have good self-esteem; however, my family members and friends feel I could use some help in raising my self-esteem. I’ve been through so much in my life, and this workbook is helping me to conquer self-doubt, overcome self-defeating thoughts, and to embrace my strengths. The workbook has also taught me to eat better and to get plenty of exercise –taking good care of yourself can help you get better self-esteem too! You see, good selfesteem does not come from our accomplishments, it comes from our valuing ourselves! Attending Clubhouse helps me to have better self-esteem, and I’ve seen other members here get better self-esteem too! So, consider coming to our clubhouse – it’s a great place to be!!!

One year as the Clubhouse Manager at Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse
By, Irvin W.My first day at Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse (DUC) was on September 13, 2021. To be quite honest, I was super nervous because one it’s a new environment, two a different county, and most of all three new responsibilities as a Manager of Program of another Clubhouse. Prior to me taking on this role, I knew it will have its ups and down, good and bad, and stress and happy times, but I was up for the challenge that would be ahead of me. I am grateful and blessed that Easterseals Michigan (at that time) was willing to have the previous Clubhouse Manager, Joyce Rupp, to stay with me for the last two weeks of work to show me the ropes of the DUC. I was so overwhelmed with all the history and the legacy that she had with Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse and Clubhouse Michigan. I totally respect Joyce of what she had build off the ground to become a Clubhouse when before it was a drop-in center for adults. I learned a great deal of myself as a person, mental health professional, and manager of a program at a large non-profit organization. I am looking forward to making more new memories so I can leave a legacy like Joyce Rupp. Thank you, DUC, and Easterseals MORC for the opportunity to be the Clubhouse manage for Dreams Limited Clubhouse.

I started at Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse 14 years ago on October 23rd. I was nervous at first, but things are starting to come true for me. I was shy at first, but I gave it a try and I got to know people. I started with M.S.U. (Member Services Unit) on the first day. The on my second day I started with H.S.U. (Hospitality Services Unit). I cooked my famous spaghetti for the first time, and they loved it.
The Clubhouse has been the biggest support of all time. I was able to go to Michigan Clubhouse Conference in Kalamazoo and someday I will be a part of the International Seminar in 2023 or 2024. I will be an International Clubhouse Superstar! Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse was there for me during the good and bad times. If it wasn’t for Dreams I wouldn’t be here today.
