Our first program of events for 2026 is bigger than ever, with talks, workshops, activities and games happening across all our libraries. You may have already noticed some evening events running through summer, and the Libraries After Dark program will continue at the Boronia and Knox libraries throughout autumn.
We have an incredible lineup of authors joining us to share their stories (pun intended). Crime, romance, memoir, true crime and literary fiction are all on the program. You can even bring along your craft project while listening to Kate Solly discuss her new book, The Paradise Heights Miniature Railway Bust-up. Mark Mupotsa‑Russell, the man behind some of the best book titles around, returns to talk about The Wolf Who Cried Boy. And Victorian Premier’s Literary Award winner Melissa Manning will present Frogsong, her new novel exploring love and addiction.
Our history talks shine a spotlight on the achievements of remarkable women. Learn more about Edith Dickenson, Elizabeth Gould, Edna Walling, Edith Cowan and Dame Nellie Melba. Scott Wallace Baker will also be back to explore the enduring appeal of Agatha Christie.
On the domestic front, you’ll have the chance to hear from award‑winning landscape designer Philip Johnson, as well as discover the stories behind the food traditions of different cultures.
We look forward to seeing you at one of these events—there truly is something for everyone.
