The WI – Inspiring Women

The Offords WI meets every month on the second Tuesday at 7.30 in the Village Hall. We have a healthy membership of women of all ages but always welcome more, so please think about joining. Or, just come for a trial evening and see if you are inspired. That is the aim of the WI.

We have an interesting programme of speakers this year with topics as diverse as Farming through to Shakespeare. Posters around the village will tell you what to expect each month.

There is also a hobbies group, competitions and outings, and as most people know, the WI help at all manner of village events – you get to know so many people.

Our speaker in May was a jewellery maker – Sally Clay. Sally designs and handmakes bespoke jewellery in gold, silver and enamel. All her pieces are made to order and can be personalised with engraved messages.

Sally, who founded Sally Clay Jewellery, explained how it all came about, and showed us examples of her work, tools and techniques. A most interesting evening. If you would like to commission something special for yourself or a loved one, Sally’s work can be found online at www.sallyclay.co.uk

The WI is always pleased to welcome local speakers with a story to tell – do volunteer if you have something to share! It’s amazing how many talented and interesting people live in our villages!
