LAXM I NARAYAN TEMPLE

SITE SURROUNDING:

The temple was situated in a normal locality with residentia I property around it. The roads to reach the temple was temple were too dirty to walk around. It was full of cow dung or sewage water. Though the road infront of the temple was very clean. The width of the road was too small.

MAIN TEMPLE:

-The main temple is made of lime stone. -main temple consists of bhogamandir jagmohana and the garbagriha

- the bhogamandapa have three entries from north , south and east

- the jagmohana have one acess from the outside while the other from the kitchen

-the garbagriha have no entry from outs ide and only accessible through the jagamohana.

- Outer side plastered with cement and painted terracoted red for preservation

- nic hes containing statues of small deites are present on the outer wall of the temple.

- the walls are decorated with scu lp tures of people dancing.

The shrine houses an idol of the mythical bird ' Garuda'. It is the centre of attraction of the site as locals believe that the size of the idol increases with each passing year

The life size amorous couple , the lascivious Sadhus, the perfect female figures in seductive poses and their bewitching smiles have made Konark a sumptuous feast for the eyes of the visitors.
