More Than Meets the Eye

The Fridge of

Tomorrow

The refrigerator, once a symbol of modern convenience, has long been intertwined with gender dynamics, particularly the role of domestic slave labor, housewives, and the disproportionate domestic labor balance in households. Historically, the kitchen was seen as the woman's domain, a place where she was expected to manage the household's food supply and prepare meals, often without recognition or autonomy.

The fridge of tomorrow is more than just an appliance; it's a catalyst for societal transformation! Imagine a kitchen where everyone can express their culinary creativity and nourish their loved ones without the weight of societal expectations around gender. The fridge of tomorrow inspires us to reimagine our roles in our homes and communities, paving the way for a more equitable and inclusive world for all.

Imagine a fridge that empowers and uplifts every member of your family, opening doors to a world of culinary possibilities for all. TheWorld

In my village there is one house that Can reach into the space of another world. In my village, Mama Bahija’s son, Adil, Came back from his trip to the other world.

Walking underneath that same sun, His shiny shoes were once again soiled By that precious dust of our dirt road. On his back, he carried a new world.

And in his mind were ideas of wonder, For the boy has returned as an engineer. Embracing his anticipation-worn mother, He set the world down on the ground.

“I have a gift for you,” he beamed excitedly, Reaching into his bag and pulling out a box. I learned that day; the world was an instrument With chords that weren’t for playing music. Images, words, people, animals, sounds, Cultures, languages - the depth of the ocean.

Adil promised to bring back another one, So that we’d have the world at school too.

In my village, we visit Mama Bahija’s house, To take turns peeking into another world. I made a new friend, his name is Tim. He likes football just as much as I do.

Technology, whether a computer, hearing aid, vehicle or otherwise, opens doors to new worlds and broadens our perspectives. Recountthe timearefrigeratorallowedyoutoconnectwithanother world, oryourownmoredeeply.

Method:

In the pursuit of an environmentally just world, we must approach technology as a catalyst for positive change. Begin by mixing a generous helping of anti-racism, responsible innovation, and empathy to lay the foundation for a more equitable future. Gently fold in respect for traditional Indigenous ways of living and a refusal to cooperate with oppressive systems.

Gradually incorporate democracy, equitable income (re)distribution, and preservation of the natural world into the technological landscape to create an environment where all can thrive. In a separate bowl, whisk together a harmonious relationship with the Earth and open-source accessibility, ensuring that technology works in tandem with nature and is available to all.

Combine the mixtures, carefully balancing shared burdens and benefits. Stir in a to eliminating global and local burdens and deploying technology only when it serve community. Sprinkle in cleanup, restoration, self-determination, freedom, and repatriation rectify past injustices and empower marginalized communities.

Fold in a synergistic relationship with nature and remain mindful of our impact to create a technology ecosystem that is environmentally just, equitable, and sustainable perfection may take time, through collective efforts and unwavering dedication, a world where technology uplifts humanity and the planet we call home. Consis pot and apply heat through community engagement and collaboration to bring these to life.
