Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation Founded by three-time NBA champion and two-time MVP Stephen Curry and entrepreneur, host and two-time The New York Times bestselling author Ayesha Curry, Eat. Learn. Play. seeks to unlock the human potential of every child. Focused on youth in underserved communities, the foundation’s programs are anchored around three core values vital to a successful childhood: nutrition, education and active living.

Key ELP Impact n Eat. Learn. Play. went into the EAT work for COVID-19 with the full intention of ensuring that the 18,000 kids that depended on the school meal program would not go hungry. We moved quickly to make sure OUSD had the adequate resources they needed to put in place their meal distribution effort. Throughout the pandemic, ELP supported OUSD in serving over 9 million meals. n Partnered with the Alameda Community Food Bank to make sure that additional bags of groceries and meals were available to give out to families alongside the student meals. n Partnered with World Central Kitchen - engaged 130 restaurants that served over 2 .5million meals to partners like RCD, putting over $25 million into the local economy and helped re-hire 850 restaurant workers.

Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation donated 14,000 meals between June and October 2020 to RCD residents in and around Oakland. RCD staff and board volunteers delivered the meals including Dan Sawislak (pictured) delivering meals at Fox Court in Oakland.

n Since the beginning of the pandemic, Eat. Learn. Play. has provided over 16 million meals and 10 million pounds of groceries to Oakland families, and others in need. From June 2020 to October 2020, over 14,000 of these free and critical meals were given to RCD residents and delivered by RCD staff and board members who volunteered their time.

The John Stewart Company Jack Gardner has been the President of The John Stewart Company (JSCo) since 2001, but still loudly proclaims his pride in having previously led RCD (or, as he puts it, “keeping the seat warm until Dan was ready”). JSCo is the largest manager of permanent supportive housing and affordable housing in California, managing over 33,000 high quality units throughout the state. It works with clients from the nonprofit, public and private sectors, providing property management, architectural/construction management services, and joint venture support to help community-based organizations achieve their affordable housing goals. RCD’s 20 year partnership with JSCo has resulted in a deeply collaborative relationship that is highly valued by both parties. JSCo’s strength is in its people, which is over 85% BBIPOC and largely hired from the communities which JSCo serves. The staff at RCD’s properties have managed a great deal throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. As essential employees, they put themselves and their families at risk every day to ensure RCD’s properties are well maintained and cleaned per COVID-19 protocols, and that all financial and regulatory requirements continue to be met. It isn’t easy, but they have managed the myriad of new pandemic policies, guidelines and procedures with diligence and determination. They demonstrate JSCo’s core values of Compassion, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Professionalism in their daily routines, all while providing RCD’s residents and the surrounding communities with great customer service. JSCo and RCD honor and thank the site staff for their work in the trenches every day, displaying an unmatched work ethic and dedicating themselves to the health and well-being of their residents. Congratulations to the site staff - thank you and well done!

RCD & Partners Vaccination Group RCD’s Alessia Simmons and Olivia King worked closely with our partner organizations to host vaccination clinics at RCD sites starting in January 2021. It was a significant effort for all involved, coordinating between multiple organizations at each site when the spread of coronavirus was still spiking. In accordance with eligibility requirements, vaccination clinics initially prioritized serving RCD’s senior residents and those with significant health concerns, as well as caregivers and on-site staff. 400+ people were fully vaccinated at over a dozen clinics held through April. A heartfelt THANK YOU to our partners: Alameda County Health Services Agency City of Berkeley Curative Contra Costa Health Services Choice in Aging City of Fremont Homeless Services Jewish Family and Community Services Marin Health and Human Services The John Stewart Company Wellspring Pharmacy One of the 400+ residents, caregivers and on-site staff vaccinated at vaccination clinics at RCD properties between January and April 2021.

OUR MISSION Resources for Community Development creates and preserves affordable housing for people with the fewest options, to build community and enrich lives.

HISTORY For over 37 years, RCD has created and preserved affordable housing for those with the fewest options, to build community and enrich lives. We began as a Berkeley based membership organization, focused on limited equity cooperatives. The first project in West Berkeley was a five-unit complex that we acquired and renovated for the resident-owners. In 1990, we completed our first housing development for homeless veterans. In 1991, we began to develop a rundown motel into permanent supportive housing for people who had been homeless. Our roots formed the base of our strong commitment to people with special needs as we expanded outside Berkeley and into integrated family housing. RCD now provides rental homes to 5,000 people in 25 cities in the region, about one third of which are reserved for people with special needs.
