New Businesses

Total Building Permits Issued

Town Center Boardwalk
10 new businesses opened in Early. This is an exciting time to be in Early, Texas! Business is growing rapidly.
In 2024, the City of Early issued 171 permits. These include permits for new homes, new businesses, construction renovations, and vendors/events.

New Subdivisions
The boardwalk at the Early Town Center has moved progressively over 2024. All piers were finished by the end of the year, and the boardwalk is set to finish by fall 2025. This sets up the process of new businesses opening along the boardwalk.

In 2024 construction began on 390 acres of new development in conjunction with the City and developers 3 new subdivisions. These include single & multifamily housing, commercial, and industrial developments. These projects continue to progress as City crews work diligently on them.

For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the City of Early received $7,935,041.22 million in total revenue. These values are then directly applied to all departments and services required to keep the City of Early functioning properly.
PropertyTax

The total revenue from property tax in 2024 was just under $1.5 million. Our combined Police and Fire Departments' budgets exceed $2.2 million. Property tax revenue only covers 68% of their budgets. The remaining 32% of eir budgets are paid for by sales tax revenue. Other General Fund departments, such as Streets and Parks & Recreation, are paid for using sales tax dollars.
Using the combination of property tax and ales tax dollars to provide for the safety and protection of our citizens, we are able to rovide our Fire Department with a new ladder truck and keep the Police Department’s resources up-to-date.
SalesTax

Sales tax consistently serves as a major revenue stream for the city. For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, we gathered $3.14 million in total revenue.
Sales tax is a supplemental part of the police and fire department budgets. Since property tax only covers 68% of their budget, sales tax makes up the rest of it.
$2,500,000 $3,000,000

UtilityRevenue
$2,000,000
With the growth of the community, including new businesses, homes, and overall development, water, sewer, and sanitation revenue totaled $2.9 million last year. Our utilities revenue experienced a positive increase!
HotelTax

Our Convention and Visitors Bureau focus on attracting visitors and promoting overnight stays.
When this occurs, the hotel tax is reinvested in our community by sponsoring local events, organizing our own events, bringing in new events and enhancing departmental services that encourage visitors to spend their money locally.
