About EARCOS
The East Asia Regional Council of Schools is an organization established in 1958. EARCOS focuses on building an inclusive community of learners and it currently has 239 member schools in East Asia. These schools have a total of more than 199,039 pre-K to 12th grade students. EARCOS also has 178 associate members— textbook and software publishers and distributors, universities, financial planners, architectural firms, insurance companies, youth organizations, etc— and 43 individual members.

Welcome to ETC 2026 from the Executive Director
It is an honor to be able to welcome such a dynamic group of educators to the 21st EARCOS Teachers’ Conference. Our theme this year, crafted by the Teacher Advisory Council a year ago, is Elevating Voices, Enriching Worlds. I hope that over the course of this week’s gathering, you will share your voice on the many challenges facing our schools and students today—and that you will leave this conference with a genuine sense of having been truly enriched.
Joining us this week are educators from four continents. To those who have come to Bangkok to lead sessions, I hope you know how deeply your contributions to this year’s ETC are appreciated. Thank you! And to our sponsors, a very special thank you for being with us and helping make this event possible. I also want to recognize the support that we receive from the EARCOS Board of Trustees. Their vision, their dedication to and support of EARCOS has been the keystone to our success since 1968! And, as always, we deeply appreciate the Office of Overseas Schools for their support of our conferences each year.
This conference is the result of twelve months of preparation. It is truly a labor of love! It began with the Teacher Advisory Council’s work last March as they set the theme and helped launch the search for keynote speakers and other specialists from the rich array of subject areas included in this year’s conference. The Teacher Advisory Council plays a vital role in every ETC. Please be sure to thank them for their stewardship and guidance. And, please remember to participate generously in the raffle the Council has organized to raise funds for a most worthy cause.
Most importantly, I am indebted to the EARCOS team—Kristine De Castro, Maica Cruz, Edzel Drilo, Joom Rattanapetch, KJ Visanjaron, RJ Macalalad and Deputy Director, Cameron Janzen for all they have done to juggle the myriad details required to ensure that this year’s ETC could take place!

What to Wear & Bring
Delegates are welcome to dress casually. We advise bringing a light jacket or sweater as meeting rooms are air-conditioned and sometimes chilly. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as there is a 3-4 minute walk between the two hotel wings where the conference rooms are located.
Welcome & Closing Receptions
These reception provides a great opportunity for delegates to network and get to know each other. Admission is included in the conference registration fee.
Lunch
Lunch on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is included in the conference registration fee. Lunch will be served at the Grand Ballroom (lobby level) and Volti Restaurant (lobby level). Exhibitors’ early access to lunch in Grand Ballroom starts at 12:00.
Punctuality
Participants are reminded to arrive on time for all sessions and keynotes. Presenters are given exactly 75 minutes for their workshop and should take care not to run overtime as this could affect the set-up of the presenter scheduled after them.
Mobile Phones
As a courtesy to the presenter and to your fellow delegates, please keep your mobile phones on silent during sessions. Should you need to take a call, please step outside the room so as not to disturb the presentation.

Many EAL teachers have the opportunity (or the responsibility) to offer workshops for colleagues – during new teacher orientation, at faculty meetings, or on PD days. However, finding, creating, and delivering high-quality professional learning is time-consuming and can be stressful. In this session, you will learn easy activities and approaches for facilitating professional learning at your school to help you build capacity for all teachers to serve multilingual learners. This workshop will provide shared pro tips and effective approaches, as well as some ready-made resources that can be replicated or adapted for your context. You’ll also have the opportunity to share what you have done and learn from what has worked in other schools.
Special Ways and Techniques (SWAT) for Achieving Meaningful Inclusion of autistic and otherwise neurodivergent students in Education

Through the development and use of educational accommodations as extensions of good teaching practice, participants will learn easy to implement, practical solutions for including autistic and otherwise neurodivergent students in regular education – For example, affording a student unable to stand still and sing in chorus class to engage in improvisational movement is another way of meaningful participation.

Biography
An internationally recognized educator and changemaker, Founder and Executive Director Sam Drazin applies his personal and professional background to lead Changing Perspectives’s mission to strengthen school communities through social-emotional learning, disability awareness, empathy development, and inclusion. Sam was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare congenital disorder resulting in both facial anomaly and hearing loss. His experiences, both as a student with a disability and as a teacher working in an inclusive classroom, helped him recognize the importance of supporting students in developing the essential life and relationship skills that underpin equity, inclusion, and social change. The students and educators we work with around the world are a constant inspiration for Sam.

In 2016, AlphaGo, Google’s AI defeated the world’s greatest Go player three games in a row. Everyone thought it was over. Lee Sedol, the world Go champion, didn’t give up. Then came Move 78, so unexpected, so deeply human, even the AI couldn’t see it coming.
The most powerful move in an AI world was never the technology. It was always the human behind it. Educators have always known this. The question isn’t whether AI is powerful, it’s whether we are designing the conditions for humans to do what they do best: connect, imagine, and lead.
Through research, practical frameworks, and hands-on experiences, Dr. Sabba Quidwai shows how design thinking is how you find your Move 78, turning imagination into innovation, empathy into action, and uncertainty into opportunity. Because when we nurture human agency in ourselves and the young people we serve, we build the skills, confidence, and creative vision to design what comes next.

Biography
Dr. Sabba Quidwai is a speaker, author, and advisor who helps visionary leaders design human-centered systems that are technology-driven. As the CEO of Designing Schools and a lecturer at the University of California, Irvine, Sabba blends research-backed strategy with real-world application.
A former high school educator and Education Executive at Apple, Sabba has been researching the future of learning and AI since 2014. Her book and documentary, Designing Schools, explore how design thinking helps people lead through change with confidence and creativity. She believes cultures of innovation begin with cultures of empathy, where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow.
