Isla Negra offers the experience and the poetics of the books, the sensuality of the objects, and the strength of the art. It does so with things that pass from hand to hand, things that are alive, with stories to tell, that make us talk. Just like the things Pablo Neruda treasured in his house in Isla Negra.

Nuestra isla está hecha principalmente de libros, también de arte y objetos. En los objetos de vidrio tenemos una debilidad, con el arte contemporáneo un afán, y con los libros nos mueve la vida. Nuestras estanterías y cestas se llenan con volúmenes y manuscritos antiguos, libros raros, primeras ediciones, libros de viejo y, como diría Neruda, libros sagrados y sobados, libros devorados, devoradores, secretos.

Somos un equipo multidisciplinar que aprende, disfruta, transforma la vida en cultura y la comparte. Nos dedicamos a los libros y sabemos de libros y lecturas; nos dedicamos al arte y algo también sabemos. Somos isla de náufragos, curiosos, lectores, bibliófilos, historiadores, coleccionistas, paleógrafos, artistas, escritores.

Para poder adaptarse a la nueva situación, Isla Negra ha dejado de ser un espacio cultural para ser cultura. Sin dejar de celebrar eventos en la isla y hacer vecindad y ciudad, comparte activamente en la red su filosofía y su forma de apreciar este mundo de cosas, creando contenidos y propuestas que giran en torno a su cambiante colección, y por ello infinita.

Entusiasmo, vocación y placer dan forma a un proyecto singular y muy personal, donde lo antiguo y lo contemporáneo conviven en un entorno sensorialmente hedonista y anímicamente elegante, con melodía de jazz. Nuestra Isla Negra, como la del poeta, es un lugar donde encontrar cosas y encontrarse con las cosas.

Our island is mostly made of books, but also of art and objects. In glass and crystal we have a weakness; in contemporary art - an avidity and books make us alive. Our shelves and baskets are filled with antique volumes and old manuscripts, rare books, first editions, vintage books, and, as Neruda would say, sacred and withered books; devoured, devouring, mysterious.

We are a multidisciplinary team that learns, enjoys, transforms life into culture, and shares it. We work with books, and we understand books and reading; we work with art, and we know a thing or two about it as well. We are an island of the castaways, the curious, the readers, the bibliophiles, the historians, the collectors, the palaeographers, the artists, the writers.

As a way of adapting to the new situation, Isla Negra is no longer a cultural space, but culture itself. Without ceasing to celebrate events on the island and forming community in the neighborhood and the city, we actively share our philosophy and our way of appreciating this world of things, creating content and ideas that revolve around our changing, and therefore, infinite collection.

Enthusiasm, vocation, and pleasure shape this unique and personal project, where the antique and the contemporary live together in a hedonistic and elegant environment for the senses, accompanied by jazz tones. Our Isla Negra, like the poet’s, is a place where one may find things and be found by them.
