The goals of the 44 European Statements of Hospital Pharmacists, clearly setting the vision for excellence in hospital pharmacy practice, are again reflected in the many seminars and symposia available at the Congress, with each session linked to the relevant section of the Statements. Identify the Statements that are priorities for your practice and use the opportunities at Congress to learn how others are manging to progress change.

Keynote 1 preview New medicines at any cost?

On Wednesday morning the EAHP Congress comes to life with a challenging examination of how health systems can meet the cost of new medicines. Dr. Suzanne Rose Hill, Director of Essential Medicines and Health Products at the World Health Organisation (WHO) will lead the congress through the issues.

It is in the nature of the human being to search, and in particular to search for better ways of doing things. In the field of medicine, we see this drive in the efforts to cure illness and alleviate suffering.

While on the one hand there is the need to find medicines and treatments that significantly improve upon existing ones or meet unmet needs, on the other hand, there are limits to the costs that patients, developers, healthcare systems and governments are able or willing to face.

What issues are involved in determining the cost of medicine?

Pharmaceutical companies face enormous costs in developing their products, and understandably, they are pressed to recover these outlays and earn their profit before generic versions are allowed to come on the market. A reading of the recent scientific literature shows that significant progress has been made in the control of numerous diseases, especially in the field of oncology, both in common and in rare cancers. However, this increase in knowledge has been accompanied by a significant increase in medicine prices.

For example, in the last ten years in the U.S., the prices of many oncology drugs have doubled, and while the monthly prices for most breast cancer drugs have decreased somewhat, they nonetheless

remain high.

Which criteria have been chosen for determining new medicine prices?

Healthcare systems, private or public, must be guided by principles of equality and sustainability in serving the public. In the context of sustainability, in some EU nations several programmes (Managed Entry Agreement) to reduce medicine cost have been adopted, such as “cost sharing”, “risk sharing” “payment by results”, “success fee” and lastly “value based pricing”.

Are there new opportunities in this scenario?

afford earlier patient access to promising new medicines, but also reduce the cost of bringing these new treatments to market.

PRIME could be particularly advantageous for researchers in academia or small and medium size firms, which, unlike large pharmaceutical companies, may lack the expertise and resources for all the procedures required for the authorization of a new medicine. PRIME offers a threepronged support strategy: 1) scientific advice 2) appointment of a rapporteur who will facilitate interaction between the applicant and the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) and 3) expert assistance with meeting regulatory requirements for marketing authorisation.

Looking at a positive development on the national level, in the UK, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) provides health technology assessment (HTA) that includes cost containment advice to pharmaceutical companies that propose clinical development of medicinal products.

While applicants can present work in any field of medicine, about a third of those chosen so far have been for new oncological drugs. Specifically, of the 64 new drugs presented to PRIME, 14 have been chosen and have now reached the market, 5 for oncological drugs and 9 for other diseases.

Government regulatory agencies can work to speed the arrival of new drugs and contain their costs by helping developers negotiate the regulatory process and fostering an increase in the number of small and medium firms that work in this field, as well as the participation of scientists at universities or at research institutes. For example, the development of new medicines that target an unmet medical need received a new boost last year in Europe through the PRIME (PRIority MEdicine) scheme launched in March 2016 by the European Medicine Agency. It is to be hoped that this initiative will not only

So far so good. Certainly PRIME has accelerated the time in which these drugs reached the market and hopefully in doing so it has cut the cost of bringing them to market. The scheme bodes well for universities and small and medium enterprises, providing them with more opportunities. It would be interesting to quantify how this initiative may reduce the cost of new medicines.

innovative medicines is another aspect worth exploring. For example, the 2017 Italian healthcare budget allocates some 500 million euros for innovative oncological drugs, a laudable initiative.

The ethical dimension arises in as much as these highly expensive drugs are budgeted to serve X number of patients.

What happens when patient X + 1 needs the drug, or X + 2, and so on? This is just an example, as the same concern applies to many expensive pharmaceuticals and technologies.

As we have seen, the answer to this question is always in evolution, and the meeting in Cannes will help us to understand better the position of the actors involved.

EAHP Policy - Common training framework The Common Training Framework: a tool for hospital pharmacy development across Europe 18 months from its initiation, the project of EAHP and its member country associations to form a common training framework for hospital pharmacy is close to completion of its first major stage: achieving a voluntary agreement on the knowledge, skills, competencies, attitudes and behaviours suggested as necessary to underpin achievement of the 44 European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy.

A pan-European working group of hospital pharmacists, chaired by Dr Andreia Bruno of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society, recently completed a consultation draft of such a framework. At the time of the EAHP Congress in Cannes this draft is half way through an open Delphi consultation with interested stakeholders from dozens of countries and backgrounds. The consultation will complete by the end of April enabling the General Assembly of EAHP in June 2017 to take consider giving its approval to the first unified iteration of the education and training that underpins hospital pharmacy practice in Europe.

The creation of such a framework is a logical development from the 2014 European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy.

EAHP practice surveys have indicated two primary categories of challenge for health systems in meeting the Statements. The first relates to ‘capacity’ in so far as budget

and resource (e.g. staff levels, or technology investment) are the major obstacle to service development. It is to the second category of challenge faced in implementing the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy - ‘capability’ – that the common training framework is directed.

The capability challenge relates to cases where resource may not be the most immediate blockage to achieving practice development so much as the level of education and training acquired by staff within the hospital pharmacy.

To take an immediate example, European Statement 6.5 states: “Hospital pharmacists should be actively involved in clinical trials of medicines.” Even with limitless resource this statement could not be met unless the hospital pharmacist has attained the requisite knowledge and acquired skills in the complex area of clinical trials.

Hence the common training framework picks up from the undergraduate pharmacy curricula, topping up the pharmacist’s education and training to ensure their skillset is fully fit-for-purpose for the demands of the hospital pharmacy sector.

Thus, without pre-judging the outcomes of EAHP’s General Assembly 2017, at whichever point the member associations of EAHP decide to approve the content of a common training for hospital pharmacy, a voluntary agreement on the competencies that match the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy will have been achieved.

From here, the framework can have many practical and tangible applications. Just a few examples might include: • Providing a template for national systems without

presently constructed formal hospital pharmacy education and training systems; Suggesting a benchmark for existing national systems to conduct comparison to; Opening opportunities for cross-border provision of hospital pharmacy education programmes; and, Giving inspiration for workplace created training and personal development programmes.

Over the longer-term, EAHP has aspirations that, if sufficient confidence is achieved between enough European countries that their hospital pharmacy education and training systems are producing equivalent or nearequivalent outcomes, a platform could be created for an automatic recognition of hospital pharmacy qualifications across borders of participating countries. Such European level recognition of specialty qualifications has been achieved many dozens of times in the medical and dental professional domain. The common training framework for hospital pharmacy may yet give an underpinning for the pharmacy profession to finally follow a similar path.

For the meantime however, all with an interest in hospital pharmacy and its future are encouraged to follow the common training framework project closely at www. hospitalpharmacy.eu and avail of opportunities to input and participate.

Good Practice Initiatives (GPIs) A network for improvement!

If you try to submit one, you will be faced with some questions. If you look at the GPI concept as a GPI in itself, the answers may be as shown below.

What was done?

The EAHP created the concept of GPI, by which any hospital pharmacist in Europe can submit a practice that has been implemented, and that he believes is useful to other colleagues across Europe. The accepted GPIs will be posted in the website, and may be selected for a poster or oral presentation in the EAHP annual congress

Why was it done?

Because many pharmacists throughout Europe constantly improve their practice, and this doesn’t mean they are doing scientific work, but just … good practice. This can be shared to help others improve. In some countries production is paramount, and they can share their experience with others from places where clinical pharmacy is at the forefront, and vice versa. This creates a network of experience and know-how that helps improve everybody’s practice.

How was it done?

The Scientific Committee of EAHP suggested the rules and procedures; EAHP accepted the process and translated this into an efficient way of submitting, reviewing and showing the GPIs. Just a word about “reviewing”: EAHP wants good practice, not just any practice. So, the Scientific Committee reviews every submission and only accepts initiatives that are in line with the EAHP’s vision of hospital pharmacy, as defined in the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy.

What has been achieved?

If you look at the website mentioned before, there are some interesting GPIs already available. And some interesting poster and oral communications have already been shown in the EAHP congresses. It’s a start.

And if you look at the European Statements mentioned before, the concept of GPI would clearly fit in section 1 (Introductory Statements and Governance).

hope that each hospital pharmacist will look at its own practice and ask the questions… what have we been doing, can it be useful to others, should we share it… should we submit a GPI? If you do, you may be asked to present at the congress.

This year, in the Cannes congress, we will have 5 oral presentations of GPIs on Thursday, 23 March 12.0013.00 in Auditorium I, and there will be a GPI prize. The winner will be announced at the closing ceremony on 24 March 2017. If you already submitted a GPI, you must be present and may win a free registration for the 2018 EAHP congress!

What next?

The EAHP believes that this is one of the steps for a better hospital pharmacy in Europe. We are just starting, and as GPIs keep coming in, EAHP will continue to improve the concept and processes of GPIs. Perhaps networks of hospital pharmacies will develop into something bigger and better. Maybe some local “GPI-like” initiatives will pop-up, and will be the nesting ground of future European GPIs. The possibilities are endless; the key fact is that we must work together to improve what we do learning from the successes of others. Patients deserve it.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS This year, EAHP is pleased to present three Synergy Satellite programmes! These sessions are accredited educational events created by our Scientific Committee and address topics which require continuous learning. The first Synergy Satellite, ’10 Years of biosimilars – what have we learned?’ (sponsored by an educational grant from Amgen) will take place on Wednesday 22nd March at 11.30 and addresses what we’ve learned since biosimilars became available and the continuing need for hospital pharmacists to keep other healthcare professionals informed on the benefits of biosimilars.

We are also pleased to provide two Synergy sessions ‘Anticoagulants – show me the evidence’ (supported by an educational grant from Bayer) with the first taking place on Wednesday at 14.00. This session will address the importance of the hospital pharmacist’s role in staying updated on the use, safety and monitoring of patients’ anticoagulant therapy. In addition, these sessions will be interactive using technology that allows participants to engage and actively learn during the 90-minute event. If you miss the Wednesday session, the session will be repeated on Thursday at 09.00. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about what you can do to ensure patient safety.

INTERVIEW with Prof Lilian M. Azzopardi Hospital Pharmacy and EAHP’s Initiatives - what does academia think?

Professor Lilian Azzopardi is currently the President of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP), as well as the Head of the Department of Pharmacy at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Malta. She currently coordinates the teaching of pharmacy practice, which includes experiences in clinical pharmacy and has coordinated a series of pharmacy projects and dissertations in the field.

The European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy calls for undergraduate pharmacy curricula to include experience of hospital pharmacy practice. To what extent do you see this already happening across Europe, and where and how might more be done to achieve the aspiration?

An element of experience in hospital pharmacy practice is included in a number of undergraduate pharmacy curricula.

Differences lie in the extent of this practice in terms of allocated time or ECTS credits and the elaboration of the experience within an academic-practice led exercise. A driver of change to support the extension of academicled experiences in different aspects of pharmacy including hospital settings, is the strengthening of collaboration between the stakeholders at national, European and international level.

The European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy also call for the role of all hospital healthcare practitioners, including hospital pharmacists, to be integrated into the curricula of other health professionals. How is this implemented now and what do you see as the challenges to achieving this?

Interprofessional curriculum development is an approach that is occurring in some situations particularly where the pharmacy school is part of medical and health sciences schools. Recognition of the contribution of hospital pharmacists, to the experiential academic practices of medical and nursing students amongst others may not be consistent and may at times be lacking. Hospital pharmacists can give

the unique contribution as an expert of medicinal products, as a manager of use and monitoring of drugs and in terms of access to pharmacotherapy. A challenge to streamline interprofessional learning is the need to introduce flexibility in curricula so as to allow the contribution from valid players in the healthcare systems.

The Congress programme this week sets its sights on many future-focused topics including Big Data, automation, and new and emerging roles for pharmacists. How do your members perceive these topics and how do you think the profession will evolve?

EAFP members recognize the essential unique characteristic of pharmacy which is the merging of the advances in pharmaceutical sciences with the application of this knowledge into different practice scenarios ranging from industrial to patient settings. EAFP provides a platform for members to share experiences and network with colleagues so as to evolve teaching methods to reflect the emerging roles for pharmacists and to respond to the needs of society including the economic pressures. Schools of pharmacy in Europe are responding to the national needs with a number of them offering post-graduate specialization programmes in hospital and clinical pharmacy. Collaboration between academia and hospital pharmacy practice sites supports practice research that has led to innovative pharmaceutical services developments. I have experienced this from our setting in Malta, where through the Pharmacy Practice Research group at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Malta in collaboration with the hospital practitioners, a number of new service developments were started. We are now looking forward to exciting developments in hospital pharmacy services in Malta and other countries where fieldwork is carried out, as a result of research undertaken by students completing the postgraduate Doctorate in Pharmacy degree which is offered by the University of Malta in collaboration with the College of

Pharmacy of the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. Keynote 3 at the Congress this week focuses on a draft common training framework for hospital pharmacy. How do you see Faculties of Pharmacy interacting with an agreed European set of competencies for hospital pharmacy, or indeed any future frameworks for other branches of the pharmacy profession?

EAFP has been following the activities by EAHP on the training needs for hospital pharmacists and looks forward to spearhead collaboration across Europe between academia and practitioners at national level. A training framework for any area of the profession is strengthened when academia and the practitioners come together.

Are there current initiatives and projects of EAFP that you would like to bring to the attention to delegates at the EAHP Congress?

EAFP is this year celebrating 25 years and to mark this significant milestone, we have a number of short-courses that are organized during 2017 in addition to the Annual Congress. Of particular interest to hospital pharmacists and pharmacist practitioners, are the session dedicated to patient-centred education being presented at the annual congress in Helsinki between the 17 and 19 May 2017 and the two-day workshop organized in Malta between the 19 and 20 September 2017. For this workhop, EAFP is collaborating with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Malta and presenting a hands-on workshop on curriculum design for clinical pharmacy teaching. More information about the activities is available in the recently launched virtual platform developed by EAFP, the European Expertise Centre for Pharmacy Education and Training (EEC-PET) accessible through the EAFP website at www.eafponline.eu.

EAHP survey activities The 2016 EAHP Statements Survey finished the first cycle of new EAHP Surveys.

It was conducted from October 2016 to November 2016 with the focus on the statements from the following sections:

Section 1: Introductory Statements and Governance Question

Section 3: Production and Compounding Section 4: Clinical Pharmacy Services 35 countries participated in this survey (Montenegro became a member of EAHP in 2016). The response rate of the survey was over 16 %, with 730 complete responses. Response rates of over 30 % were received from 21 countries.

Overall, the questions related to production and compounding (Section 3) received very positive responses (all questions from this section received at least a 70% positive response rate) indicating that responders are having less difficulty complying in these areas compared to others. This was also observed in the baseline survey.

The Introductory and governance questions (section 1) received a more mixed response. For example, when asked if pharmacists are involved with Drug & Therapeutics committees or designing the parameters of ICT used in medicine processes the overall response was quite positive, but the overall response was much more negative when asked if pharmacists work routinely as part of a multidisciplinary team (statement 1.1).

Overall awareness of the statements has increased from 37% to 48%. 26 countries show an increase in awareness.

Capability and capacity as a main barrier to implementation appears to be slightly improving. 25 countries report less concern with capability, while 16 countries report a reduced concern with capacity. However, both remain significant barriers to implementation.

The complete survey results will be available to EAHP members shortly. A comprehensive analysis of results will be submitted as a publication to the European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy (EJHP).

Policy piece - Medicines Shortages Medicines Shortages: Turning words into actions is the challenge for all in 2017 In 2016 the World Health Organisation (WHO), the European Medicines Agency, the European Heads of Medicines Agencies, and the EU Council of Ministers all gave fresh attention on how to resolve the international experience of medicines shortages. The challenge for 2017 will be to turn dialogue and idea-sharing into practical, tangible and meaningful response that alleviates the problems medicines shortages cause to pharmacists and the patients they serve across European countries and beyond.

In May 2016, the 69th meeting of the World Health Assembly, the governing body of the World Health Organisation, met in Geneva to enable international governments to discuss and make resolutions on key matters of global health significance, including medicines shortages. This was the first time in the WHO’s 70 year history that medicines shortages had been debated as an issue in its own right. The 194 Member Countries of the WHO passed a resolution calling for: • National strategies to forecast, avert and reduce medicines shortages; and, • Manufacturers, wholesalers, global, and regional procurement agencies and other relevant stakeholders to contribute to global efforts to address the challenges of medicines and vaccines shortages, including through participation in notification systems.

Moreover, the WHO itself was mandated to develop: • technical definitions for medicines shortages, • an assessment of the magnitude and nature of the medicines shortages problem, and, • a global medicine shortage notification system that includes information to better detect and understand the causes of

medicines shortages.

A report on implementation of the resolution is expected by the time of the next World Health Assembly in May 2017.

European Medicines Agency and European Heads of Medicines Agencies Meanwhile both the European Medicines Agency and European Heads of Medicines Agencies are giving attention to ways in which Europe’s experience of medicines shortages can be tackled. Both organisations have conducted formal outreach to stakeholders impacted by the problem and have, according to recent reports received from EAHP, committed to collaborating together to tackle issues such as the diverse definitions of medicines shortages across European health systems, with an aim of bringing about a more common understanding between countries. Best practices, especially in respect to matters such as communication of medicines shortages, are also intended to be taken up.

EU Council of Ministers At the European political level, under the Presidency of the Government of Slovakia, European Union Member State Governments provided attention to the issue of medicines shortages at an informal meeting of EU Health Ministers in October 2016. The meeting considered whether existing legal frameworks across the EU for requiring manufacturers to report supply disruptions are fit for purpose.

Governments also considered how an improved understanding of the European dimension of shortages could be gained within a context of every European country currently undertaking its own form of response to the problem.

Slovakia has been willing to provide leadership at the European level on the topic of medicines shortages due to its experience of shortages, many of which are considered to have their root cause in parallel export of medicines.

The COST Action on Medicines Shortages Elsewhere, within the stakeholder community, EAHP has been working with patient organisations, other healthcare professionals, supply chain representatives and experts from a diverse range of backgrounds via a European initiative called ‘The COST Action on medicines shortages”.

The COST acronym stands for ‘Cooperation in Science and Technology’ and is a long running mechanism to fund the bringing together of experts from across Europe in a specialised topic area to stimulate advancement in the field.

The Action on medicines shortages is led by Professor Helena Jenzer of EAHP’s Scientific Committee and has constituted itself into 5 working groups, with the tasks of: 1. Improving understanding of the medicines shortages landscape in Europe (led by Prof Dr Isabelle Huys, Belgium); 2. Investigating medicines shortages with API and manufacturing related shortages (led by Prof Dr Claude Farrugia, Malta); 3. Understanding more about the nature of procurement related disruptions (led by Mrs Jane Nicholson, United Kingdom); 4. Exploring the Clinico-pharmacological needs related to medicines shortages (led by Mr Nenad Miljkovic, Serbia); and, 5. Measuring the impact of shortages on outcomes (led by Dr Mina Gaga, Greece).

Host pharmacy students at YOUR hospital!

Raluca Radu, Vice President of Education at the European Pharmaceutical Students Association (EPSA) explains why achievement of the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy benefits from hospital pharmacies hosting students and interns in the workplace.

European Statement of Hospital Pharmacy 6.1. Ensure the pharmacists of the future gain experience of hospital pharmacy practice before graduating. Its a worthy aim, and an aspiration strongly supported by hospital pharmacist, patient and healthcare professional organisations at the European Summit on Hospital Pharmacy in May 2014.

Speaking on behalf of the European Pharmaceutical Students Association (EPSA) it is also a vision pharmacy students across Europe can buy into.

So what’s getting in the way of making this a reality?

Elsewhere in the Daily Dose, Professor Lillian Azzopardi, President of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP) provides a perspective on that question from the University standpoint. Speaking from a student perspective however, one of the barriers is hospital pharmacies opening their doors to the contributions of

young, eager-to-learn, pharmacy students. Which is where the EAHP-EPSA Internship platform comes in.

The platform, hosted on the EAHP website, began its life five years ago, in 2012, as a unique partnership between EPSA and EAHP. The platform serves as a space for willing hospitals all across Europe to advertise that they are open to applications from students for periods of placement.

As the testimonies provided on the online portal show, experiences for both hospitals and students is highly favourable.

While the number of hospitals in Europe participating in the programme continues to grow every year, the number of students seeking to provide their developing skillset via the portal grows even more. EAHP and EPSA are therefore taking the opportunity of the Cannes Congress to issue an appeal to any hospital pharmacy tempted to provide students opportunities to sign up today via www.eahp.eu/ students.

The students are required to apply through an online form, in which they explain their motivation for participating in the project, as well as add their CV, and the courses they have completed so far. As a further measure to assure the quality of participants, a recommendation letter

from a mentor at their university must be provided. Their eligibility to participate in the platform is then screened by the Platform Coordinator within the EAHP office, before the application reaches the hospital advertising the placement. All of this helps to mitigate against hospitals receiving any unsuitable applications.

Hospitals remain free at all times to exercise selection in respect to which, if any, applying interns to accept, taking into account such aspects as length of internship, language requirements, and level of knowledge and experience acquired to date. In this sense, the platform operates flexibly to best meet participating hospitals’ needs.

Developing an individualised pharmaceutical care plan – How can this be achieved by the hospital pharmacist?

At 14:00 on Wednesday and 09:00 on Thursday, both in Auditorium I, 12 authors will explain their work in short presentations, which will each be followed by a Q&A session.

The Wednesday group includes: • Hypromellose prolongs the dissolution of ketamine out of gelatine capsules; • Stability study of bortezomib (velcade) with limit test for all degradation products; • Stability study of 10 mg/ml paediatric cyclosporine solution in olive oil; • Stability of frozen 1% voriconazole eye drops in glass and in innovative containers; • Feasibility of utilisation and patient satisfaction with a nationwide standardised electronic medication plan; and, • Developing a method for identifying a university hospital’s high alert medications.

Six more studies nominated for the poster prize will be

presented on Thursday: • CD69 A>G (rs11052877) genetic polymorphism on the response to tocilizumab in rheumatoid arthritis patients; • Evaluation of clinical, economic and organisational impacts of pharmacists’ interventions on immunosuppressive therapy management among lung transplant outpatients; • Evaluation of the clinical significance and value of a clinical pharmacy service at a teaching hospital; • Developing an interactive tool to educate patients on good management of drugs; • Influence of cytarabine metabolic pathway polymorphisms in effectiveness of acute myeloid leukaemia induction treatment; and, • Relation between clinical remission and trough infliximab levels in children with inflammatory bowel disease.

Key criteria of abstracts are innovation, creativity, anticipation, relevance, added value and the amount of work that was done during the study.

Implementing the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy A small team was established in 2016 to provide a focus for the implementation of the European Statements on Hospital Pharmacy. The team had a project plan approved at the EAHP General Assembly, held in Prague in June 2016. The plan runs until 2019, which will mark 5 years from when the Statements were agreed.

The core of this team is Gonzalo Marzal Lopez, based in the EAHP office in Brussels, supported professionally by Tony West (a pharmacist and ex member of EAHP Board) and by Isabel Valero Guerrero, who is also based in the Brussels office. The team report operationally to Jennie de Greef through to the EAHP President, Joan Peppard.

This congress will see two important elements of that project plan take shape.

Joan Peppard, as President of EAHP, will officially launch an update to the EAHP website. This will now have a section dedicated to the European Statements. This section provides an overview of why the Statements are so important to a variety of stakeholders, ranging from patients and policy makers through to other healthcare practitioners, as well as our many partners in industry and academia. The website will also provide a range of resources to help with the implementation of the Statements within individual hospitals or at the level of a region or nation. These resources will include an evidence base for each of the Statements plus general material to assist our member associations with implementation.

Other parts of the project plan include a social media strategy, the publication of regular newsletters as well as the development of a network of ‘ambassadors’ representing our member associations as an essential resource to pushing forward with implementation.

At a European level, the implementation team continues to seek out stakeholders where the Statements could be of interest, broadening the horizon beyond those who helped us develop the Statements in the first place, patient groups and other healthcare practitioner organisations.
