animal photographers wanted Zoo hosts 11th annual photo contest

H

eld through Jan. 2-31, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s 11th annual photo contest is open to photographers of all abilities, ages 5 and up. All photos must be taken during the contest period, and photographers must follow zoo rules, stay on all zoo paths and obey posted signs. Flash photography is prohibited where indicated. Complimentary admission is offered to participants who show their camera at the ticket booth. (Please note: cell phones will not be accepted for this contest.) Limit one entrant per household per day.

How to enter

Fill out the online entry form at rosamondgiffordzoo.org/photo-contest. Email a maximum of two images to photocontest@ rosamondgiffordzoo.org. Photos must be sent as an attachment and must be labeled with type of animal and entrant name (Example: Lion_JaneSmith.) Entries are due by 4 p.m. on Feb.1; Late entries will not be accepted.

Youth (ages 5-12) Teen (ages 13-18) Adult (ages 19 and up) Most Artistic Photo - images with interesting light quality, composition, angle, or an artwork-like feel -- minor digital enhancements permitted Best Action Shot - animals at play, in flight, underwater, etc. “Best Day Ever” Photo - show us what makes your visit to the zoo memorable!

2015 Winter at the Zoo Photo Contest Grand Prize Winner, “Tranquil Beauty,” was submitted by Tina Norris of Cicero. The photo is of Achilles, the zoo’s giant cortez hawk fish.
