STORY AND PHOTOGRAHY BY KAITLIN PIETTE AIRVENTURE TODAY STAFF

CHRIS AND REBECCA HALL from Kansas City, Missouri, love to travel with their dog, Chloe. Chris has been attending EAA AirVenture Oshkosh for 11 years, since his first visit in 1986 with his dad, when they slept in a tent under the wing of the airplane. He is a professional skydiver and pilot who helps others practice jumps. Chris and Rebecca’s favorite thing about AirVenture is all the excitement and energy brought to the event by the people and airplanes. They also enjoy seeing the many learning centers and opportunities for those wanting to develop new skills. To them, “Attending EAA, you get to see the best of the best.”

John Schryock was born into a military family who moved around the world. In John’s words, “I was born and raised in the tail of a jet plane.” Growing up around airplanes and living in other countries, John’s experiences took him from working in the Peace Corps to being a structural analyst for R182s and R172s, along with being a test pilot for Cessna. His favorite airplane is the homebuilt 1930 Great Lakes 2-T-E biplane. He now volunteers at the South 40, directing airplanes as they come in, and enjoys being the person who gets to welcome everyone flying in for AirVenture. For John, every aspect of EAA is enjoyable, saying, “All of it together is just powerful.”
