Dear readers, Het is zover, de eenentwintigste editie van het GASSAN Magazine is een feit. Het is een uitgave geworden die mij bijzonder nauw aan het hart ligt. Het thema is namelijk Amsterdam, mijn thuis. Iedereen die mij goed kent, weet dat ik graag andere steden ontdek. Echter, er gaat niets boven mijn eigen stad.

Volgend jaar bestaat Amsterdam 750 jaar, en dat zal het komende jaar groots gevierd worden in de stad. GASSAN is trotse partner van dit mooie initiatief en daarom laten we dit niet onopgemerkt voorbijgaan. Ons bedrijf is namelijk al bijna 80 jaar onlosmake-lijk verbonden met deze prachtige hoofdstad. Ter ere van het 750-jarig bestaan van Amsterdam hebben wij samen met Montblanc een unieke Montblanc X GASSAN Limited Edition Pen ontworpen. Maar dat is nog lang niet alles; ook nemen we je mee naar Parijs, waar tijdens een exclusief event de nieuwe TROPHY BY GASSAN-collectie werd gelanceerd in samenwerk-ing met Meet Up Paris. Daarnaast lees je alles over de nieuwe samenwerking tussen GASSAN 121 en mijn eigen merk, Choices by DL. Ook heeft Choices by DL samen met ABN AMRO MeesPierson een prachtig initiatief gelanceerd: ‘10 Women to Watch’, waarmee we tien inspirerende vrouwelijke ondernemers in de spotlight zetten. Een prachtig project waar ik enorm trots op ben.

In deze editie ook twee mooie interviews. Zo spraken we met de broers Sander en Martijn Lusink van Ogér, dé high end herenkleding specialisten van Amsterdam en met de CEO van OMEGA, Raynald Aeschlimann, over de opening van hun eerste boutique in onze stad. Mijn vader, broer en ik delen zelfs onze favoriete hotspots in de stad, voor als je zelf op ontdekkingstocht wilt gaan door de mooiste stad op aarde. Kortom, deze editie ademt Amsterdam.

Next year, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary, and the city will host grand celebrations throughout the year. GASSAN is a proud partner of this wonderful initiative, and we are committed to making sure this milestone does not go unnoticed. After all, our company has a history worth 80 years with this beautiful city.

In honour of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, we have teamed up with Montblanc to design a unique Montblanc X GASSAN Limited Edition Pen. But there is more; we will also take you to Paris, where we launched the new TROPHY BY GASSAN collection during an exclusive event in partnership with Meet Up Paris. You can also read about the latest collaboration between GASSAN 121 and my brand, Choices by DL. Additionally, Choices by DL, in partnership with ABN AMRO MeesPierson, has launched a fantastic initiative: ‘10 Women to Watch’, that shines a spotlight on ten inspirational female entrepreneurs. It is a meaningful project of which I am incredibly proud.

This edition also features two interviews. We spoke with brothers Sander and Martijn Lusink from Ogér, Amsterdam’s premier high-end men’s fashion specialists, and with OMEGA’s CEO, Raynald Aeschlimann, about the opening of their first boutique in our city. My father, brother, and I also share our favourite hotspots in the city, in case you want to embark on your own journey of discovery through the most beautiful city on earth. In short, this edition breathes Amsterdam.

GASSAN is honoured to partner with the city of Amsterdam in celebration of the city’s 750th anniversary. This collaboration was recently formalised during a symbolic signing ceremony between Amsterdam councillor Sofyan Mbarki of Economic Business, Sport & recreation and GASSAN’s CEO, Benno Leeser.

Met deze samenwerking onderstreept GASSAN, als iconisch Amsterdams bedrijf, haar verbondenheid met de stad. De betrokkenheid bij de maatschappelijke en culturele ontwikkeling van Amsterdam staat hierbij centraal. GASSAN draagt met trots bij aan de rijke geschiedenis van de stad door Amsterdammers een unieke kans te bieden om het eeuwenoude vakmanschap van het diamantslijpen te ontdekken. In het kader van deze viering neemt GASSAN een leidende positie op zich door te investeren in de opleiding en ontwikkeling van de volgende generatie vakmensen in het ambacht van diamantslijpen. “Als Amsterdams familiebedrijf zijn we er trots op een bijdrage te kunnen leveren aan de viering van 750 jaar Amsterdam. Door onze betrokkenheid in de ontwikkeling op het gebied van educatie en sport willen we laten zien hoe belangrijk het is om te investeren in de toekomst van onze stad en haar inwoners,” aldus Benno Leeser. Als partner, is GASSAN nauw betrokken bij de Cruyff Street League. Het straatvoetbaltoernooi waar per stadsdeel wordt gespeeld en dat wordt afgesloten met een finale op iconische plek, de Dam. Het partnership loopt tot oktober 2025, waarbij nog veel meer initiatieven worden aangekondigd om dit bijzondere jubileum te vieren.

Benno Leeser highlighted the significance of GASSAN’s involvement: “As an Amsterdam-based family business, we are proud to support the celebration of 750 years of Amsterdam.

By supporting initiatives in education and sport, we want to show how important it is to invest in the future of our city and its people.” As a partner, GASSAN is closely involved in the Cruyff Street League. The street football tournament is played per district and ends with a final at an iconic location, Dam Square. The partnership will run until October 2025, with many more initiatives to be announced to celebrate this special anniversary.

The Casino Tourbillon design is inspired by the refined state of mind of heyday casinos. It’s a nod to the elegant gamblers and socialites that populated 1960’s Monte Carlo, Macao or Las Vegas. Casino Tourbillon is a sophisticated timepiece, and as such, it does not overstate its sophistication: its flying tourbillon is visible only from the caseback. Like an island, this onyx dial is elevated and surrounded by Casino Tourbillon’s namesake complication: a fully functional game of roulette. Raynald Aeschlimann werkt al meer dan 25 jaar bij OMEGA en vervult sinds acht jaar de functie van president en CEO. David: OMEGA bestaat al meer dan 175 jaar. Wat zijn de belangrijkste kernwaarden van het merk?

Raynald: Wat ik mooi vind aan OMEGA, is dat ons DNA door de jaren heen onveranderd is gebleven, zelfs na 175 jaar. De visie van het merk is ook hetzelfde: een voortdurende zoektocht naar het beste voor onze klanten, met de nadruk op precisie, kwaliteit, pioniersgeest en innovatie.

Het bestuur van OMEGA en ik hebben altijd ons erfgoed gerespecteerd en onze kernwaarden zijn vandaag de dag nog steeds zeer relevant. Ook al is het een accessoire, iedereen wil een horloge van hoge kwaliteit.

David: OMEGA has been around for over 175 years. What are the core principles that have guided the brand throughout its history?

Raynald: The incredible thing is that our DNA has always remained consistent, even after 175 years. The brand’s vision is also the same: a relentless pursuit of the best for our customers, focusing on precision, quality, pioneering spirit, and innovation. At OMEGA, we respect our heritage and have preserved these pillars as the brand’s legacy, which remains highly relevant today.

David: De geschiedenis van OMEGA is heel indrukwekkend.

Een mooi voorbeeld is dat OMEGA in 1932 werd benoemd tot officiële tijdwaarnemer van de Olympische Spelen. Wat heeft dit voor het merk betekent?

Raynald: Eén van de meest geweldige aspecten van OMEGA is zijn geschiedenis. In 1932 werd OMEGA gekozen door het Internationaal Olympisch Comité als officiële tijdwaarnemer. We werden gekozen vanwege onze precisie, reputatie en het vertrouwen dat ze in ons hadden. De Olympische Spelen is het grootste sportevenement ter wereld en dat wij een essentiële rol mogen spelen bij het vastleggen van de prestaties van de atleten, maakt ons enorm trots.

We zijn er om de prestaties van de atleten te verbeteren door nauwkeurige gegevens te leveren. Tijdens de laatste Olympische Spelen in Parijs hebben we 1,3 miljard gegevens gemeten. Maar we doen meer dan alleen tijdwaarneming. Denk aan de Omegascope, die in 1961 werd gelanceerd en waarmee live looptijden op televisie konden worden doorgegeven. Even though it is an accessory, everyone wants a high-quality watch. As you know, David, we are not just selling a dream or a brand—we are selling exceptional watches. Leading this brand, therefore, is incredibly meaningful to me.

David: The history of OMEGA is very impressive. An example is that OMEGA became the timekeeper for the Olympics in 1932. What impact has this had on the brand?

Raynald: One of the amazing aspects of OMEGA is its history. In 1932, the International Olympic Committee chose OMEGA to time the entire Olympic Games. We were selected as timekeepers because of our precision, reputation, and the trust they had in us. The Olympics is the largest sporting event in the world. For us to be part of this event fills us with immense pride.

The fact that we have a role to play makes it even more significant. We have earned the trust of the International Olympic Committee and are there to enhance the athlete’s performances by providing precise data. During the last Olympic Games in Paris, we measured 1.3 billion pieces of data. But we do more than just timekeeping. Consider the Omegascope, launched in 1961, which enabled live running times to be relayed on television. It revolutionized how we view sports by engaging the audience in a new way.

David: Een ander indrukwekkend voorbeeld is toen OMEGA werd geselecteerd door NASA als het meest nauwkeurige horloge voor ruimtemissies...

Raynald: Een iconisch moment in onze geschiedenis is zeker de Moonwatch. OMEGA was het enige horlogemerk dat alle NASA-tests doorstond. Dat we door NASA werden gekozen, zegt veel over onze kwaliteit en precisie. Als je kijkt naar de rijkste mensen ter wereld, dromen velen ervan om verder te gaan dan de aardeze willen de maan bereiken. Deze ambitie is een bron van inspiratie geweest voor ons bij OMEGA. Ik heb het voorrecht gehad om bijna alle nog levende astronauten te ontmoeten, en ze hebben een ongelooflijke uitstraling, omdat ze naar een plek zijn geweest waar kinderen van dromen-de maan. Elke avond, als de maan opkomt, kijken kinderen vol verwondering omhoog.

David: Another impressive example is when OMEGA became the most accurate watch for space missions, selected by NASA...

Raynald: The Moonwatch is an extraordinary chapter in our history. OMEGA was the only brand to pass all of NASA’s tests. Being chosen by NASA speaks volumes about our quality and precision.

When you look at some of the wealthiest people in the world today, many dream of going beyond Earth and reaching the moon. This aspiration has been a source of inspiration for us at OMEGA. I have had the privilege of meeting nearly all the astronauts still living today, and they possess incredible charisma because they have been to a place that children dream about-the moon. Every night, as the moon rises, kids look up in wonder.

Het feit dat deze astronauten daar zijn geweest met één van onze horloges, een product dat hun leven heeft gered dankzij zijn kwaliteit en precisie, is ongelooflijk. Maar het is ook emotioneel. Neem Jeff Bezos, een visionaire ondernemer en één van de rijkste mensen ter wereld. Toen hij de ruimte in ging, droeg hij een Speedmaster om zijn pols, net zoals de astronauten in de jaren vijftig en zestig.

Dit voorbeeld laat de emotionele band zien die mensen hebben met dit uurwerk. Ik geloof dat de Speedmaster echt een icoon is geworden.

David: Welk horloge draag je momenteel het liefst, en wat betekent het voor jou?

Raynald: De laatste tijd draag ik graag de Speedmaster met witte wijzerplaat, een horloge dat ik normaal gesproken niet draag vanwege de grote vraag ernaar. De Speedmaster is altijd één van mijn favoriete lijnen geweest. Het heeft een link met de Speedmaster Alaska en is een stijlvol horloge.

The fact that these astronauts went there with one of our watches—a product that saved their lives due to its quality and precision—is mind-blowing. But it is also deeply emotional. Take Jeff Bezos, a visionary entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest people in the world. When he traveled into space, he wore a Speedmaster on his wrist, just like the astronauts in the fifties and sixties. This example demonstrates the emotional connection people have with this timepiece.

I believe the Speedmaster has truly become an icon.

David: Which watch is your current favourite, and what does it mean to you?

Raynald: Lately, I have been enjoying wearing the white dial Speedmaster, which I usually do not wear due to its high demand. The Speedmaster has always been one of my favourite lines. It has a link to the Speedmaster Alaska and is quite a dressy watch. I love the Speedmaster because of its rich history and iconic design, and the white dial adds a distinctive touch to the wrist. I am also very proud that we launched it this year, a year in which we have introduced many interesting pieces, reminding people just how incredibly successful the Speedmaster is.

Ik hou van de Speedmaster vanwege zijn rijke geschiedenis en het iconische ontwerp, en de witte wijzerplaat voegt een opvallend element toe aan de pols. Ik ben ook erg trots dat we het dit jaar hebben gelanceerd, een jaar waarin we veel interessante stukken hebben geïntroduceerd, waardoor mensen weer beseffen hoe ongelooflijk succesvol de Speedmaster is.

David: Omega en GASSAN hebben een langdurige relatie. Welke waarden van GASSAN zijn van essentieel belang voor Omega?

Raynald: Het fascinerende aan onze relatie is de ongelooflijke evolutie die we samen hebben doorgemaakt. Enerzijds respecteren we elkaar, anderzijds is er een sterke basis van vertrouwen, wat ons in staat heeft gesteld om samen te groeien.

Daarnaast sluiten onze waarden perfect op elkaar aan en zijn we allebei hardwerkend en toegewijd.

Zelfs in moeilijke tijden of wanneer er zich kleine problemen voordoen, weten we dat we, als er een manier is om vooruit te komen, die samen zullen vinden. Voor zowel OMEGA als GASSAN staan respect en toewijding aan de eindgebruikers centraal, een inzicht dat onze bedrijven altijd hebben gedeeld.

David: Onlangs opende OMEGA een boetiek aan de P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam, in samenwerking met GASSAN. Waarom is dit een belangrijke stap voor jullie bedrijf?

Raynald: Het werd hoog tijd dat we een boetiek openden in Amsterdam, zeker omdat we al in veel andere grote steden aanwezig zijn. We wilden deze stap al langer zetten en zijn ontzettend blij dat we dit samen met de GASSAN familie hebben gerealiseerd. We hebben samen al een winkel op Schiphol, iets wat we als een van de eersten deden binnen de duty-free sector. Voor OMEGA was het belangrijk om een boetiek te openen in de hoofdstad van Nederland, waar we onze klanten de perfecte service kunnen bieden en de volledige OMEGAcollectie kunnen tonen. Dit is de ervaring waar veel OMEGA klanten naar op zoek zijn wanneer ze een OMEGA product overwegen.

David: OMEGA and GASSAN have a longstanding relationship. What values of GASSAN resonate most with OMEGA? Raynald: What is fascinating about our relationship is the incredible evolution we have experienced together. On the one hand, we respect each other, and on the other, there is a strong foundation of trust, which has allowed us to grow together. On top of that, our values align perfectly, as we are both hardworking and dedicated. Even in challenging times or when minor issues arise, we know that, ultimately, if there is a way to move forward, we will find it together. For us both, respect and dedication to the end consumers are most important, an understanding our companies have always shared.

David: OMEGA recently opened a boutique on the PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam in collaboration with GASSAN. Why is this a significant step for your company?

Raynald: It was about time we opened a boutique in Amsterdam, especially considering our presence in many other major cities. We have wanted to do this for quite some time and were thrilled to take this step with the GASSAN family. We already have a store together at Schiphol Airport, something we did as one of the firsts within the duty-free business.

For OMEGA, it was important to open a boutique in the capital of the Netherlands, where we can offer our consumers the perfect service and showcase the complete OMEGA collection. It is the kind of experience that many OMEGA customers seek when considering an Omega product. It is a great privilege to have finally opened this boutique, with the primary focus on serving our customers. Additionally, it is an honour to have done this in partnership with GASSAN, a leading local partner who understands the importance of experience and professionalism.

David: OMEGA stands for both excellence and precision, as well as bold innovation and exclusive designs. How crucial is the balance between these two aspects?

Raynald: Balancing the two is not always easy, especially in today’s world where customers are not just looking for outstanding designs but also want to understand the reasons behind a brand’s

het bedienen van onze klanten. Bovendien is het een eer om dit in samenwerking met GASSAN te doen, een toonaangevende lokale partner die het belang van beleving en professionaliteit begrijpt.

David: OMEGA staat enerzijds voor uitmuntendheid en precisie, anderzijds voor gedurfde innovaties en exclusieve ontwerpen. Hoe belangrijk is de wisselwerking tussen deze twee aspecten?

Raynald: Het is niet altijd makkelijk om de balans te vinden. In de wereld van vandaag willen mensen niet alleen begrijpen waarom een merk succesvol is, maar ook wat de specifieke ontwerpen bijzonder maakt. Tegelijkertijd zijn ze steeds meer merkbewust. Daarom is uitmuntendheid, dat de kern vormt van OMEGA, zo belangrijk. Het is iets wat klanten steeds meer herkennen en waarderen.

Diezelfde nadruk op uitmuntendheid geldt ook voor GASSAN. Jullie bieden de klant een ware ervaring, aandacht voor detail en de hoogste kwaliteitsnormen. Uitmuntendheid is de sleutel tot het bieden van een perfecte ervaring. Het is echter net zo belangrijk om modern en aantrekkelijk te blijven. Alleen een bekende merknaam hebben is niet genoeg. Het is essentieel om innovatief te blijven. Toen we bijvoorbeeld de Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon creëerden, hadden we als doel het eerste volledig keramische zwarte horloge te introduceren. Inmiddels hebben veel andere merken dit voorbeeld gevolgd. Voor mij is dat een teken van uitmuntendheid.

David: Ben je persoonlijk betrokken bij het ontwerpproces?

Raynald: Absoluut, ik vind dat heel belangrijk. Dit heb ik geleerd van de heer Hayek Sr., de redder van de horloge-industrie met zijn uitvinding van de Swatch. Het draait allemaal om het product: product, product, product. Ik zou zeggen dat de belangrijkste pijler productontwikkeling is, of, zoals ik het soms noem, productverbetering.

Verbetering betekent niet altijd dat je iets compleet nieuws creëert, zoals in de mode-industrie. Als je kijkt naar de mooiste luxemerken, behouden ze altijd een binding met het verleden terwijl ze

success. At the same time, they are also very branddriven. That is why excellence, which is at the core of OMEGA, is so important—it is something customers increasingly recognize and value. The same emphasis on excellence applies to GASSAN. You provide your customers with an experience, attention to detail, and the highest quality standards. In today’s world, excellence is the key to creating the perfect experience.

However, it is equally important to remain modern and attractive. Simply having a well-known brand name is not enough. It is essential to stay innovative.

Take the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon, for example. When we launched it, our goal was to create the world’s first ceramic black watch. Today, almost every watch brand has followed suit. For me, that is the true mark of excellence.

David: Are you personally involved in the design process?

Raynald: Absolutely. I believe it is crucial, and it is something I learned from Mr. Hayek Sr., the saviour of the watch industry with his invention of the Swatch. It all comes down to the product—product, product, product. I would say the most important pillar is product development, or, as I sometimes call it, product enhancement. Enhancement does not always mean creating something entirely new, as you might see in the fashion industry. If you look at the best luxury brands, they always maintain a connection to their past while reinterpreting it for the present. For example, consider the evolution of Seamaster. We have always respected our heritage, yet we have managed to create iconic pieces by adapting them to today’s world and meeting the needs of today’s customers. That is incredibly important.

David: You have been with OMEGA for over 25 years and have served as president for the last eight.

How proud are you to be part of Omega’s journey?

Raynald: I am not sure that it is about pride. Working for OMEGA has always been one of my greatest passions, and the brand means a lot to me. My pride comes from having the best people working with us, all of whom respect the company and its legacy.

OMEGA is well known for its historic comeback. In the sixties and seventies, the company could have faced bankruptcy if not for Mr. Hayek, who saved it

Werken voor dit bedrijf is altijd één van mijn grootste passies geweest. OMEGA betekent heel veel voor me. Trots zijn komt eerder voort uit het feit dat we de beste mensen hebben die met ons samenwerken, en allemaal respect hebben voor het bedrijf en de nalatenschap. OMEGA staat bekend om zijn historische comeback. In de jaren zestig en zeventig had het bedrijf failliet kunnen gaan, ware het niet dat de heer Hayek het redde na een reeks fouten.

Nu we weer een leidende positie innemen, is onze prioriteit om die positie te behouden voor de toekomst. Het gaat niet alleen om trots, maar om de verantwoordelijkheid die ik, samen met mijn collega’s wereldwijd, voel om ervoor te zorgen dat de volgende generatie OMEGA nóg beter maakt.

Dit bedrijf is echt magisch. Hoe meer je erin stopt, hoe meer je terugkrijgt. Maar het is belangrijk om te onthouden dat je niet belangrijker bent dan het bedrijf zelf.

David: Mooi verwoord. Ik deel die waarden.

Hoe voel je je in de dagen voorafgaand aan zo’n belangrijke lancering?

Raynald: Wanneer we nieuwe producten lanceren, zijn we altijd erg gespannen. Maar, zoals ik vaak zeg, als het hele concept is ontwikkeld met grondige analyse en het innovatief is, moet het wel slagen omdat we trouw blijven aan ons merk. So, working for OMEGA is not just about pride; it is about the responsibility that I, along with my colleagues and everyone involved with us worldwide, make sure the next generation does even better. This company is truly magical. The more you give to it, the more it gives back. But it is important to remember that you are not more important than the company itself.

David: Beautifully said. I share those same values.

How do you feel in the days leading up to such major launches?

Raynald: When we launch new products, we are always very tense. However, as I often say, if the entire concept is developed with thorough analysis, adding elements of new-generation innovation and materials while staying true to the OMEGA brand, it is certain

to succeed. It is a different world today with the various social media platforms, and I am a little old-fashioned, to be honest. I am not as accustomed to the constant flood of criticism, particularly on social networks, as the younger generation is. For me, however, it is essential to remember that it is not just the launch that matters; it is the entire design process and how we communicate our vision that truly makes the difference. We have never approached a product opportunistically.

We have a vision, and we stick to it. While it is impossible to please everyone, I am confident in the Speedmaster 38. Its oval counters and subtle diamonds are unmistakably OMEGA, drawing from models like the Cappuccino and Chocolate in our ladies’ collection. For me, it feels like welcoming a new family member. We have taken steps to enhance the brand, and our customers expect and appreciate this evolution.

David: De horloge-industrie heeft de afgelopen vijf jaar een uitzonderlijke groei doorgemaakt. Wat denk je dat de toekomst brengt?

Raynald: Het belangrijkste is dat we blijven groeien en vooruitgaan. We hebben het geluk één van de leiders in de industrie te zijn en zowel jongere als oudere generaties blijven graag onze horloges kopen. Wat heel interessant is, is dat als ons succes aanhoudt, dit een signaal is dat de wereld zich positief ontwikkelt. Onze horloges behoren waarschijnlijk tot de top vijf van items waarin mensen investeren. Mensen doen deze investeringen echter alleen als ze vertrouwen hebben in de toekomst.

Dus ik hoop dat ons bedrijf floreert, omdat dit ook zou betekenen dat de wereld zich in een goede richting ontwikkelt, een gevoel dat niet altijd duidelijk is als je de laatste tijd naar het nieuws kijkt. Als het goed blijft gaan met ons bedrijf, gaat het ook goed met de wereld, wat mij persoonlijk gelukkig maakt. Laten we hopen op een betere toekomst, want een wereld die vooruitgaat, betekent meer geluk, en meer mensen die OMEGA-horloges kopen, of dat nu bij ons is of bij GASSAN.

David: The past five years have been extraordinary for the watch industry. What do you foresee for the future?

Raynald: The key is that we must keep moving forward. We are fortunate to be one of the leaders in an industry where both the new and older generations love buying our watches. What is also very interesting is that if our success continues, it is a sign that the world is developing positively. OMEGA watches are among the top items people invest in, but they only make such investments when they feel secure about the future.

I hope our business thrives, not just for our sake but because it would mean the world is heading in the right direction. With the current state of world affairs, it is easy to feel uncertain when watching the news, but if OMEGA prospers, it is a hopeful indicator of a better world, which brings me personal happiness. So, let’s hope for a better world because a better world means more happiness and more people buying OMEGA watches, whether from us or at GASSAN.

FLORENTINE VAN OOSTEN SLINGELAND Florentine is de oprichtster van het kinderkleding- en accessoiremerk Donsje, dat onder andere bekend staat om zijn prachtige én functionele kinderschoenen. Donsje heeft meerdere eigen winkels en wordt ook verkocht in andere winkels door heel Nederland. Na tien jaar is het merk recent uitgebreid naar het buitenland.

“Je moet in jezelf geloven. Iedereen heeft goedbedoelde adviezen, wat fijn is, maar alleen jij weet diep van binnen waarom je dit doet en jij hebt die unieke visie. Laat je niet uit het veld slaan, want ook bij mij is er genoeg misgegaan. Het belangrijkste is dat je blijft doorgaan, want op een gegeven moment zullen mensen waarderen wat je maakt. Wees gewoon jezelf, en dan maakt het niet uit of je een man of een vrouw bent.”

Florentine founded the children’s clothing and accessory brand Donsje, known for its beautiful yet functional children’s shoes. Donsje has several shops and retail partnerships throughout the Netherlands. After ten years, the brand has recently expanded internationally.

“We vergroten de zichtbaarheid van vrouwen op drie manieren: door meer vrouwelijke rolmodellen zichtbaar te maken, door vrouwen met elkaar te verbinden, en door hen te helpen zichzelf zichtbaarder te maken.

Ons doel is om zo snel mogelijk meer vrouwen aan de top van het Nederlandse bedrijfsleven te krijgen. Ik heb geleerd om op mezelf te vertrouwen. Ga voor je doelen, volg je hart en je geluk. Vertrouw op wat je energie geeft en waar je blij van wordt.”

Nancy is the founder of BrandedU, the leading institute for female leadership, with the mission of increasing the visibility of women in the business world. She developed a unique personal branding method that focuses on authenticity. This year, she launched the Women’s Visibility Awards 2024, an initiative honouring role models who make a difference.

‘We increase the visibility of women in three ways: by making more female role models visible, by connecting women, and by helping them make themselves more seen in their roles. The goal is to get more women to the top of the Dutch business world as quickly as possible. I have learned to trust myself. Go after your goals, follow your heart and your happiness. Trust in what gives you energy and makes you happy.’

Marieke is de oprichter en CEO van HERA United, de eerste professionele voetbalclub voor vrouwen in Nederland. Met HERA United streeft ze naar gelijke kansen in de voetbalwereld, met als ultieme doel: de Champions League bereiken.

“Ik ben deze onderneming gestart omdat het tijd is om de lat hoger te leggen voor het vrouwenvoetbal. Het is zonde dat vrouwenvoetbal nog steeds zo afhankelijk is van mannen. Als vrouwelijke ondernemer in een door mannen gedomineerde wereld, kom je voor veel uitdagingen te staan. Je moet echt je eigen koers varen en je niet laten vertellen wat wel en niet mogelijk is.”

Marieke is the founder and CEO of HERA United, the first professional football club for women in the Netherlands. With HERA United, she strives for equal opportunities in the football world and the ultimate goal of reaching the Champions League.

‘I started this venture because it is time to raise the bar for women’s football. It is a shame that women’s football is still so dependent on men. As a female entrepreneur in a male-dominated world, you face many challenges. You have to chart your course and not let them tell you what is and is not possible.’

DR. ELIAN BRENNINKMEIJER Elian is een ervaren cosmetisch dermatoloog die haar kennis en expertise inzet om zowel zieke en beschadigde huid te behandelen, als de gezonde huid te optimaliseren. Ze heeft meerdere wetenschappelijke publicaties op haar naam staan en staat bekend om haar vooruitstrevende behandelmethoden.

Unfortunately, gender differences still exist in the medical field. As a woman, I sometimes have to work harder to be taken seriously. This has helped me become a successful entrepreneur by following my passion and continuously improving myself.’

“As a woman, you are often seen as someone’s assistant, especially in industries where men are usually in charge as a CEO or director. You are more likely to be mistaken for someone taking minutes or scheduling meetings, rather than the boss. As a female CEO, it can sometimes be challenging to stand your ground so this does not undermine your confidence. “I started this business because the financial world was outdated, with products and communication mainly targeting men, while women still have significantly less wealth. That had to change. My advice to entrepreneurs: surround yourself with people who want to help you; they make a big difference. Let go of perfectionism and accept that your first products or services won’t be perfect; improvement comes along the way.”

Johanna is the managing director and owner of A House of Happiness, a company specialising in custom-made sustainable curtains. The entire production process of these curtains takes place under one roof. In addition, Johanna founded the L.A.P. Atelier, Where victims of domestic violence and/or sexual violence take control of their lives again and create new products from residual materials.

Gunay is the former State Secretary for Culture and Media and the current CEO of Corendon. Gunay foresees challenges in the hotel and aviation sectors and sees it as her mission to tackle them. She has been involved with Corendon from the beginning, a company founded by her brother Atilay. Together with him, she built the travel organization in the late 1990s.

Network DINNER Afgelopen september vond het eerste netwerk event plaats: 10 Women To Watch. Tijdens een diner in het Ketelhuis van GASSAN werden tien inspirerende vrouwelijke ondernemers in de spotlight gezet, met als doel om te inspireren, leren, ervaringen te delen en te verbinden.

Sophie van der Giessen, directeur private banking voor ondernemers bij ABN AMRO MeesPierson, benadrukte het belang van haar betrokkenheid bij dit initiatief: ‘Het verbaast mij dat er anno 2024 nog steeds grote verschillen bestaan tussen mannen en vrouwen. Het idee dat mijn zoontje later meer zal verdienen en een beter pensioen zal opbouwen dan mijn dochtertje, is niet meer van deze tijd.’ Tijdens het diner genoten zo’n zeventig krachtige vrouwen niet alleen van de culinaire hoogstandjes van chef-kok Zoë Jonker, maar ook van de verhalen die onderling werden uitgewisseld. De 10 Women To Watch werden één voor één naar voren geroepen om hun verhaal te vertellen: over hun ondernemerschap, hun successen, en vooral de uitdagingen die ze onderweg tegenkwamen. Het evenement was een groot succes en het 10 Women To Watch-initiatief is nu al uitgegroeid tot een platform waar sterke, ondernemende vrouwen niet alleen samenkomen, maar elkaar ook versterken.

Last September, the first networking event, 10 Women To Watch, took place. During a dinner at the Ketelhuis of GASSAN, ten inspirational female entrepreneurs took centre stage, aiming to inspire, learn, share experiences and connect.

Sophie van der Giessen, Director of Private Banking for Entrepreneurs at ABN AMRO MeesPierson, emphasized the importance of her involvement in this initiative: ‘It is astonishing that in 2024 there are still significant differences between men and women. The idea that my son will earn more and build a better pension than my daughter is outdated.’ During the dinner, around seventy powerful women enjoyed the culinary creations of Chef Zoë Jonker while exchanging stories and experiences with one another. The 10 Women To Watch shared their stories about their entrepreneurship, successes, and especially the challenges they faced throughout their journey. Debora Leeser-Huisman, founder of Choices by DL and initiator of the evening, also spoke from her own experience: ‘For me, success begins where others stop. As the fourth generation in this family business, I find it incredibly important to show that I can contribute something myself.‘ The event was a great success, and the 10 Women To Watch initiative has already grown into a platform where female entrepreneurs empower each other.

ZIKKING & ZOON: In 1995 openden Robert Zikking en zijn vrouw Linda een slagerij in de Maasstraat, Amsterdam. Nu, bijna 30 jaar later, is Zikking & Zoon een begrip in de stad dankzij hun ambachtelijke producten.

AFC: Favoriete club van Benno blijft natuurlijk Feyenoord, maar als hij in Amsterdam een goede pot voetbal wil zien gaat hij naar de club van zijn kleinzoon, Samuel (6). De Amsterdamsche Football Club (afgekort tot AFC) is een bekende amateurvoetbalclub uit Amsterdam.

AFC is opgericht op 18 januari 1895 en is de oudste voetbalvereniging van Amsterdam.

Benno’s favourite football club will always be Feyenoord, but when he wants to watch a good match in Amsterdam, he heads to his grandson Samuel’s (6) club. VISAANDESCHELDE: Benno en zijn vrouw Kitty zijn al ruim 20 jaar vaste gasten bij Restaurant Visaandeschelde, het visrestaurant in de Rivierenbuurt van Amsterdam Zuid. Hier draait alles om de culinaire passie voor het verwerken van dagverse vis en seizoensproducten tot spannende en smaakvolle gerechten. Benno bestelt er steevast het tongetje, maar ook de sushi en de kreeft met Japanse noedels behoren tot zijn favorieten.

ARTIS: De oudste dierentuin van Nederland, ligt in de Plantagebuurt van Amsterdam en werd opgericht in 1838. Naast diverse dieren heeft de zoo ook een aquarium en een planetarium. Debora bezoekt ARTIS graag met haar gezin; haar jongste dochter Gabriella (4) is vooral dol op de olifanten en giraffen. Een bezoek is altijd een succes voor jong en oud!

ARTIS, situated in Amsterdam’s Plantagebuurt, is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands. It features many different animals, an aquarium and a planetarium. In her free time, Debora loves visiting ARTIS with her family.

Her four-year-old daughter Gabriella is especially fond of elephants and giraffes. A visit to ARTIS is always a guaranteed hit for both young and old.

Benno always enjoys ordering sole fish, but sushi and lobster with Japanese noodles are among his favourites as well.

PAUW: Debora’s eerste baan was in de kledingzaak van haar opa, Rolf Leeser, die luxe merken als Dolce & Gabbana en Valentino verkocht. e broers Lusink bewijzen dat familie en zakendoen de perfecte combinatie is. Samen staan ze aan het roer van herenmodezaak Ogér, een naam die synoniem staat voor exclusiviteit en klasse.

Met Martijn (46) als CEO en Sander (47) als Brand Director hebben zij het bedrijf naar een hoger niveau weten te tillen door Ogér een moderne uitstraling te geven, terwijl zij het rijke erfgoed van hun vader blijven koesteren.

David: Ruim 34 jaar geleden opende jullie vader de eerste Ogér-winkel hier op de P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam. Wat is volgens jullie het geheim achter het succes van Ogér? Sander: Mijn vader wilde iets on-Nederlands neerzetten. Hij wilde een exclusieve high-end winkel met het gevoel van een gentlemen’s club. De locatie werd toevallig de P.C. Hooftstraat, omdat onze moeder potentie zag in deze straat. Gelukkig geloofden een aantal grote merken in het concept van mijn vader, en al snel ontwikkelde hij zijn eigen label, Ogér Royal Wardrobe collectie. Hij zag dat er veel vraag was naar high-end producten en richtte zich daarom op de Italiaanse markt en de beste Italiaanse merken.

Voor mijn vader was het essentieel om een plek te creëren die warmte uitstraalde. Hij wilde een soort huiskamer maken, waar klanten zich thuis zouden voelen, konden genieten van een kop koffie, topservice en de geweldige Italiaanse collecties. Dat bleek een gouden formule te zijn.

David: Jullie hebben de groei van het bedrijf vanaf het begin meegemaakt. Wat herinneren jullie nog uit de tijd dat jullie vader de winkel opzette?

Martijn: We waren zo’n 12 of 13 jaar oud toen we hier rondliepen om koffie uit te serveren. Het was altijd druk, en het kleine Jura-apparaat beneden stond de hele dag te pruttelen.

David: Over 34 years ago, your father opened the first Ogér shop here on P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam.

What do you think is the secret behind Ogér’s success?

Sander: My father wanted to create something distinctly different from what was typical in the Netherlands. He envisioned an exclusive, high-end store with the feel of a gentlemen’s club. The location happened to become P.C. Hooftstraat because our mother saw potential in this street. Fortunately, a few prominent brands believed in my father’s concept, and he quickly developed his own label, Ogér Royal Wardrobe collection. He saw a strong demand for high-end products and focused on the Italian market and top Italian brands. For my father, it was important to create a space that radiated warmth.

He wanted it to feel like a living room where customers felt at home, could enjoy a coffee, experience the best service, and browse through outstanding Italian collections. It turned out to be a winning formula.

David: You have witnessed the company’s growth from the very beginning. What do you remember from when your father set up the shop? Martijn: We were about 12 or 13 years old when we started serving coffee here. It was always busy, and the little Jura espresso machine downstairs was brewing all day long.

Sander: That thing broke down at least once a month.

Martijn: Yes, you could tell it was getting plenty of use! The funny thing is that the shop became an extension of our living room. Honestly, it was also a way for us to see more of our father since he was

En eerlijk gezegd was het voor ons ook een manier om onze vader wat vaker te zien, want hij werkte zich een slag in de rondte. Als familie sta je voor elkaar klaar, en je doet wat je kan om te helpen.

David: Hebben jullie door de jaren heen de liefde voor mode ontwikkeld? Martijn: Omdat we er al op jonge leeftijd mee in aanraking kwamen, denk ik dat het echt door onze aderen is gaan stromen.

Dat gaf ons ook een voorsprong. Ik mocht al vroeg klanten helpen met styling, iets wat direct goed werd ingemasseerd. Dat was eigenlijk het begin van onze levensstijl.

Debora: Hoe is de stijl van Ogér veranderd in vergelijking met vroeger? Martijn: De kledingstijl is volledig veranderd. Vroeger was zo’n 90% van onze collectie gericht op pakken, maar dat is tegenwoordig heel anders. Misschien zie je nog wat jasjes als je op de Zuidas loopt...

Sander: ...maar stropdassen zie je nauwelijks nog.

David: Have you developed a love for fashion over the years? Martijn: Having been immersed in fashion from a young age, I think it runs in our veins now. It gave us a head start. I was able to help customers with styling early on, which quickly became second nature.

That was the start of our lifestyle.

Debora: How has Ogér’s style changed compared to the past? Martijn: The clothing style has completely transformed. Previously, about 90% of our collection were suits, which is very different today. You might still see a few jackets when you walk around Zuidas ...

Sander: ... but you hardly see ties anymore.

Martijn: Exactly, so we had to adapt. The pandemic accelerated that change. People started going to the office less and working more from home. We have evolved with the times, but in a way that still aligns with our brand.

David: How would you describe your leadership style? Martijn: Leadership is important because you have to provide direction. Our father was a brilliant

Onze vader was een geniale en charismatische leider, een echte generaal die boven het bedrijf stond, en dat werkte toen heel goed. Maar hij is uniek, en wij hebben weer andere kwaliteiten. Het is ook niet verstandig om een kopie van iemand te willen zijn. Sander en ik benaderen leiderschap op onze eigen manier. Wij zijn wat sneller, toegankelijker. Zelf ben ik een teamspeler en werk ik graag mee met het team op de vloer. Ik help met de verkoop, de etalages, het opruimen; ik ben één van hen. Ik ben vaak als eerste aanwezig of ga als laatste weg. Ik heb de hele dag contact met iedereen en dat past bij mij.

Debora: How about you, Sander? Sander: My role is a bit more solitary. Martijn handles purchasing and is the Managing Director, while I focus more on the roles of Brand Director and Marketing/ PR. We complement each other well.

I am in the shop every day, though not all day. I like to find inspiration outside, visit competitors, and have a chat here and there. I see myself as a bit of a midfielder, keeping a close eye on what’s happening in the market. I enjoy the social side of things but also need to focus on sales. On Saturdays, I like to have sushi and champagne brought to the shop; it adds to the atmosphere.

Martijn: I am more sales-oriented.

Our father was a visionary in fashion and style, and I have inherited more of that from him.

But he was also very social, and I see that trait more in Sander.

Debora: Hoe is dat voor jou, Sander? Sander: Ik heb een wat solistische functie. Martijn is hoofd inkoop en algemeen directeur, terwijl ik meer de rol van brand director en marketing/ PR op me neem. We vullen elkaar goed aan. Ik ben elke dag in de winkel, maar niet de hele dag. Ik zoek graag inspiratie buiten de deur, bezoek de concurrenten, maak een praatje.

Zo zie ik mezelf als een vrije middenvelder die goed in de gaten houdt wat er in de markt speelt.

Ik ben van het sociale, maar ik moet natuurlijk ook verkopen. Op zaterdag haal ik er graag wat sushi en champagne bij—dat maakt het gezellig.

Martijn: Ik ben meer van de verkoop. Onze vader was een visionair op het gebied van mode en stijl, en dat heb ik ook meer van hem meegekregen.

Maar hij was ook heel sociaal, en die eigenschap zie ik meer in Sander.

It is also unwise to try to be a copy of someone else. Sander and I take our own approach to leadership. We are a bit quicker and more approachable. I am a team player, and I enjoy working alongside the team on the shop floor. I help with sales, displays, and tidying up; I am one of them. I am often the first to arrive or the last to leave. I have contact with everyone throughout the day, and that suits me.

Debora: Sander, what do you think is your brother’s most valuable asset to the company? Sander: Martijn can predict which colours or shoe trends will be popular up to two years in advance. Sometimes, he is even too far ahead—people only catch on to his ideas a couple of years later. That foresight is essential, and it makes him incredibly strong in purchasing.

Debora: And Martijn, what is Sander’s greatest strength? Martijn: Place Sander in a room with influential people, and he quickly forges the best

Debora: En Martijn, wat vind jij Sanders sterkste eigenschap? Martijn: Zet Sander in een kamer met belangrijke mensen en binnen no-time heeft hij de beste connecties gemaakt. Hij hoeft er niet eens veel voor te doen—mensen komen vanzelf naar hem toe. Ik heb daar helemaal geen geduld voor. Sander praat met iedereen en staat meteen met iedereen te lachen. Dat is een onmisbare kwaliteit in het bedrijf, en zo vullen we elkaar perfect aan.

David: Wat typeert Ogér als familiebedrijf? Martijn: Veel mensen begrijpen het concept van een familiebedrijf pas echt als ze hier werken. Het management is anders; het is warmer en eerlijker, maar ook directer. Als familie proberen we meer uit onze medewerkers te halen, in plaats van dat ze een nummertje zijn. Bij ons zit er veel meer diepgang, en daardoor lukt er ook meer. We investeren echt in de ontwikkeling van onze mensen. We noemen het ook wel de Ogér Academy waar je deel van uitmaakt.

Maar we zijn ook veeleisend; Retail is hard en je bent nooit klaar. Het werk stopt gewoon nooit.

David: Jullie hebben onlangs de Ogér-winkel volledig verbouwd. Waarom was dat nodig? Martijn: Wij dreigden merken te verliezen als wij niet zouden verbouwen. Hoewel we één van de grootste winkels van ons soort in Europa zijn en goed verkopen,

David: What defines Ogér as a family business?

Martijn: Many people can only understand the essence of a family business once they work here. The management style is different; it is warmer and more honest but more direct. As a family, we strive to bring out the best in our staff instead of seeing them as just a number. There is much more depth here, which is why we can accomplish more. We genuinely invest in the development of our people. We even call it the Ogér Academy. But we are also demanding; retail is tough, and you are never done. The work just never stops.

Debora: Can you switch off from work in a personal setting?

Martijn: It used to be much more difficult. Before, it was nearly impossible to talk about anything else, and the conversation always returned to the business.

Sander: Since you have children, it is different.

David: You recently renovated the Ogér shop.

Why was that necessary? Martijn: We risked losing brands if we did not remodel. Even though we are one of the largest stores in Europe of our kind and sales are good, the Italian brands felt that the shop did not complement their clothes well enough. They believed that the old English style no longer suited them. We needed to modernise.

Sander: Our father always said, “Never change a winning concept.” But we saw opportunities through innovation. Martijn came up with the idea of establishing Ogér 2.0 for the future, and I wholeheartedly agreed. It was what the brands wanted and what the future of the business needed.

David: Would you say Saturday is the busiest day in the shop?” Martijn: Yes, Saturday is number one, but Friday and Thursday are also

Sander: Tot twaalf uur is het vaak nog rustig, omdat onze klanten eerst met de kinderen naar hockey gaan. Maar tussen drie en zes barst het hier los, alsof het een soort centraal station is met celebrities. We zijn heel trots op wat hier allemaal gebeurt en wie hier allemaal binnen komen lopen.

David: Mensen uit heel Nederland komen naar jullie winkel in Amsterdam. Wat maakt deze locatie speciaal? Martijn: Onze collectie in Amsterdam is twee keer zo groot als de collectie in Rotterdam, waar we ook een grote winkel hebben.

Er hangt meer, alle maten zijn hier beschikbaar, en daardoor draaien we hier ook twee keer zoveel omzet. De kans om hier te slagen is gewoon groter.

Sander: Klanten komen soms van ver voor een ‘Ogér-weekendje’. Ze overnachten in het Conservatorium Hotel hier om de hoek. We hoorden eens van een klant in Maastricht die zei: “Open alsjeblieft geen winkel hier, ik kom speciaal naar Amsterdam voor de ervaring.”

Martijn: Voor onze klanten is een bezoek aan de winkel echt een ‘experience’. strong days, as well as Sunday. Our customers are often entrepreneurs and generally have a more flexible schedule than people in salaried positions.

Sander: Mornings are usually quiet, as many of our customers take their kids to hockey first, but from three to six, it gets busy, almost like a central station for celebrities. We are incredibly proud of the energy here and the clientele who choose to shop with us.

David: People from all over the country come to your shop in Amsterdam; what makes this location special? Martijn: Our collection in Amsterdam is twice the size of the one in our Rotterdam shop. We have a broader selection and more sizes

Debora: Bijna zeven jaar geleden kreeg jullie vader een herseninfarct en moest hij noodgedwongen stoppen met werken. Hoe gaat het nu met hem?

Martijn: Hij voelt zich gelukkig goed. Hij is blij en tevreden, ook al is hij zijn spraak kwijt. We hebben geleerd hoe we daarmee moeten omgaan door hem bijvoorbeeld korte, duidelijke vragen te stellen.

Sander: Hij wordt heel goed verzorgd door zijn vriendin Ellen, waar ik erg blij mee ben. Ik was onlangs een weekendje met ze naar Antwerpen om de winkel te bezoeken en met het team te eten. Dan is hij zo trots dat hij daar deel van uit kan maken.

We maken er altijd het beste van. Hij begrijpt alles, maar het is moeilijk dat hij zich niet goed kan uiten.

Martijn: Hij heeft veel tegenslagen gehad, maar

People come here with high expectations, and we want to live up to them, but first, everything must be right from A to Z. Debora: Almost seven years ago, your father had a stroke and had to stop working. How is he doing now? Martijn: Fortunately, he is feeling well— happy and content—though he has lost his ability to speak. We have learned to communicate with him by asking short, concise questions.

Sander: He is well cared for by his girlfriend, Ellen, which brings me a lot of comfort. I recently spent a weekend with them in Antwerp, where we visited the shop and enjoyed dinner with the team.

He is so proud to be a part of it. We always make the best of it. He understands everything, but it is difficult for him not to be able to express himself.

Debora: Funny, that is what we always call my father, Benno, too.

Debora: En hoe reageerde hij op de verbouwde winkel? Sander: Hij was heel trots. Ik was bang dat hij het te modern zou vinden, maar hij vindt het mooi.

Hij komt nog steeds regelmatig langs, drinkt een kop koffie met de klanten, en geniet ervan. We zijn blij dat hij alles nog goed meekrijgt.

Debora: And how did he react to the renovated shop? Sander: He was very proud. I was worried he might find it too modern, but he likes it. He still comes by regularly, drinks coffee with the customers, and enjoys it. We are happy that he gets to experience it all.

“If this is successful, we might consider locations in cities like London or New York.”

Debora: Wat kunnen we in de toekomst nog van Ogér verwachten?

Martijn: We willen onze bestaande winkels uitbreiden in plaats van overal nieuwe te openen. Onze winkel in Amsterdam bijvoorbeeld gaat van 800 naar 1.500 vierkante meter, inclusief onze Loro Pianawinkel. Daarmee moet de omzet ook verdubbelen vind ik. Als dit slaagt, kunnen we misschien denken aan locaties in steden als Londen of New York. Tommy Hilfiger is een vaste klant en als hij in de winkel is, komt hij altijd met een winkellijstje. Debora: What can we expect from Ogér in the future? Martijn: We want to expand our existing shops instead of opening new ones everywhere. For example, our Amsterdam shop will increase from 800 to 1,500 square metres, including our Loro Piana shop.

With that, I believe that sales should also double. If this is successful, we might consider locations in other cities like London or New York. Tommy Hilfiger is a regular customer, and when he visits the shop, he always comes with a shopping list. He buys his entire wardrobe here.

Every time he says, “Guys, you should be in New York!” Who knows, maybe that will happen. But first, we need to innovate here.

Debora: Martijn, you have two daughters, and your eldest, Olivia Ogér, is named after your father.

Would you be pleased if your daughters decided to join the company someday? Martijn: That would certainly be welcome, but it is, by no means, required.

They must have a genuine passion for fashion; it should not be an obligation. Thankfully, we have incredible talent within Ogér, and it is wonderful to see how our employees grow here. They have become like family to us, which gives us great confidence for the future.

WATCH NEWS ROLEX Submariner, Submariner Date The Oyster Perpetual Submariner and Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date, archetypes of the divers’ watch, epitomize the historic link between Rolex and underwater exploration.

Launched in 1953, the Submariner was the first divers’ wristwatch waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet). Just a year after its launch, its waterproofness was increased to a depth of 200 metres (660 feet), and it was soon fitted with other technical innovations, such as a luminescent disc on the hour hand to clearly distinguish it from the minute hand, and a crown guard. Some years later, in 1969, Rolex unveiled the Submariner Date, a version of the model with a date function. Its waterproofness, then guaranteed to 200 metres, was extended in 1979 to a depth of 300 metres (1,000 feet). The waterproofness of the Submariner achieved the same depth in 1989.

Rolex is enriching the Day-Date range with new versions of the Oyster Perpetual DayDate 40 and the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 showcasing finely worked dials.

Ombré dials make their debut on the Day-Date 40. The version presented, in 18 ct Everose gold, introduces slate ombré – a completely new hue for such a dial, whose surface, coloured at the centre, progresses to a deep black around the edge. Also appearing for the first time on the ombré dial of this watch are faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals and faceted index hour markers in 18 ct pink gold. Until now, Rolex ombré dials were set with diamond hour markers and were reserved for the DayDate 36. This new dial represents the continuity of a design that the brand introduced in the 1980s and relaunched in 2019. The manufacture of these dials with a concentric gradient involves the application of black lacquer, a delicate operation overseen by a specialist, whose task it is to ensure the harmonious transition from colour to darkness.

Fashioned from 18 ct white gold, a second new version of the Day-Date 40 features a dial made of pearlized white mother-of-pearl. This natural material is used on the model for the very first time. Extracted from the oldest and noblest part of the oyster shell, pearlized mother-of-pearl has a subtle, rich structure whose irregular texture evokes tiny overlapping clouds and gives a sense of volume.

Two new Montblanc Star Legacy limited editions bring a green twist to this timeless watch. Walking DINNER with Chopard Begin oktober werd in restaurant VanOost in Pillows Boutique Hotel in Amsterdam een exclusief walking dinner georganiseerd ter ere van de nieuwe campagne van Chopard met Bella Hadid en de Ice Cube-collectie. Het merk, wereldwijd beroemd om zijn creativiteit en geavanceerde technologie, weet al sinds de lancering van de Ice Cube-collectie in 1999 menig hart te veroveren met deze verfijnde lijn.

De Ice Cube-collectie is een perfect samenspel van stijl, verfijning en glamour. Elk stuk belichaamt de tijdloze schoonheid van Chopard’s kenmerkende geometrische ontwerp, met vierkante facetten die zorgvuldig zijn vormgegeven als talloze reflecties van ijs. It is with great pride and excitement that GASSAN Eindhoven recently opened its doors, realising a long-cherished dream for president-director Benno Leeser. The new boutique promises to offer an unparalleled experience for enthusiasts of luxury jewellery and high-end watches in the south of the Netherlands.

GASSAN heeft al meerdere vestigingen, waaronder in Amsterdam, Rotterdam en Changi Airport in Singapore. Nu wordt Eindhoven toegevoegd aan deze lijst. De nieuwe boutique, gelegen op de kruising van de Rechtestraat en Hooghuisstraat, biedt een breed aanbod aan topmerken zoals Omega, Breitling, Glashütte en Longines, naast GASSAN’s eigen juwelenlijnen. “De stap naar Eindhoven is logisch; het bruist hier,” zegt Benno Leeser. Eindhoven trekt bezoekers van over de wereld, en GASSAN wil zich hier vestigen als toonaangevende speler. Daarnaast is GASSAN de officiële timekeeper van PSV, wat aansluit bij Benno Leeser’s passie voor voetbal.

Hij heeft goed contact met regionale spelers die de boutique bezoeken. Iedereen is welkom om GASSAN Eindhoven en de wereld van tijdloze luxe te ontdekken.
