"Great men are born to lead" and so the birth of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil in an affluent agriculturist family of Kolhapur in Maharashtra on 22nd October 1935, was the beginning of great things to come. Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil did not rest on his laurels as a social worker, but dreamt of contributing better values to the society. Thus began a vision to endow the people with quality educational facilities in all fields. Dr. D. Y. Patil Partishthan's journey began with "HIS EXCELLENCY THE HON'BLE PADMASHREE DR. D. Y. PATIL Sir." the Governor of Bihar State, who sowed the seed of education in Kolhapur, Maharashtra in 1983 with a motto ; " Empowerment through Knowledge". After three decades, today we witness that the seed has bloomed into a vast tree with its branches spread in Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai and Mauritius. This expansion could happen only due to his philanthropic spirit. Today, there are over 160 academic institutions of international repute, from kindergarten to post graduation in the varied disciplines of education, 03 Deemed Universities and 01 Overseas Medical College. There are one lakh students studying and ten thousand teaching and non teaching staff members working under the banner of Dr. D. Y. Patil Pratishthan. Almost two lakh students have passed out from this prestigious banner.

For his contribution to the cause of education, the President of India has honored Dr. D. Y. Patil Sir with Padmashree in 1991. He was also awarded two Doctorates in Philosophy, first by the World University Round Table (USA) in 1985 and later by Britain (UK) in 1996.

He served as the Governor of Tripura for two years & Governor of Bihar for Two Years.

Recently, he has been bestowed with the prestigious D.Lit. from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

PROFILE OF PRESIDENT

Hon. Dr. Sanjay D Patil President Dr. D. Y. Patil Pratishthan Dr. Sanjay D. Patil is an Educationist, Agriculturist and a Civil Engineer. He is the architect of Dr. D. Y. Patil Educational Institutions of the Kolhapur Educational Complex. He is the Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil University and also the Chairman of Kasaba Bavada Shikshan Mandal, Kolhapur. He has been awarded the most prestigious D. Lit on 23rd May 2013 by the University of the Himachal Pradesh.

He has to his credit various awards. The Government of Maharashtra has awarded him with "Vanashree Puraskar" in 1991. He is the recipient of "Indira Priyadarshini Vrukshamitra Award" in 1993. He has been awarded the "Kolhapur Bhushan" in 2001 for his achievements in the educational field. He was best owed with the "Rashtriya Shikshan Sanman Puraskar", "Krishinishtha Puraskar" by the Government of Maharashtra in 2004 and has won First Prize in "All India Mango Show" held at Banglore in 1996.

Dr. Sanjay D. Patil believes in nurturing the potential of the students, giving them the exposure to the latest developments in their fields, thus enabling them to become competent and quality conscious engineers. The world class infrastructure and environment in the institutes reflects the meticulous care taken by him in maintaining high academic standards with the help of a galaxy of renowned academicians and ultra modern laboratories. His humane and calm approach towards addressing various problems and his quick decision making ability is responsible for the rapid progress and growth of the educational institutes.

He has established 'Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College' at Quatre Bornes, in the Republic of Mauritius with the aim of providing quality health education, research and health care facilities of international standards.

Recently Dr. Sanjay D. Patil has been awarded with the most prestigious award for Sayaji Hotel of Dr. D. Y. Patil Group by Best Large Hotel India award as "International Five Star Hotel" in London.

PROFILE OF VICE-PRESIDENT AND CHAIRMAN

Hon. Shri Satej D Patil (M.L.C.) Vice President and Chairman Dr. D. Y. Patil Pratishthan

Shri. Satej alias Bunty D. Patil is a renowned educationist, social worker and an agriculturist. Recently he has become a Member of Legislative Council of Maharashtra state. He was the Minister of State for Home, Rural Development, Food & Drugs Admin; Govt. of Maharashtra, since November 2010 to September 2014. He was a member of Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State from Karveer constituency, Kolhapur since 2004. A young man with tremendous energy, he has translated the vision of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil into reality by establishing various quality institutions within a short span of time.

He is also President of Shri. Mouni Vidyapeeth Gargoti, Kolhapur and Chairman of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. Gaganbavda Kolhapur. He is also member of Indian Institute of Education Pune, and Govering counical member, Vasantdada Sugar Institute Pune. (He is also member of Shree Parampujya Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, Shegaon) He takes personal interest in all the facets of efficient functioning and growth of the institutes. His zeal and untiring efforts is a key to the creation of conducive environment for teaching, learning and overall personality development of students and also an attempt to elevate the educational institutions to international standards.

Col. S. K. Joshi was commissioned to The Scinde Horse (14 HORSE) an Elite regiment (Armourd Corps) of Indian Army in 1974 and retired in March 2006. He joined Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Group at Kolhapur in April 2006 and later came down to Dr. D. Y. Patil Educational Complex, Akurdi, Pune as the Campus Director in April 2008. A man with dynamic personality, he is a strict disciplinarian and great administrator. Under the able guidance and support of Hon. Satej D. Patil, Vice President and Campus Chairman, he has been instrumental in bringing about revolutionary changes in the campus in all the spheres of higher education. He believes in the dictum "Perform or Perish".

PROFILE OF PRINCIPAL – B. PHARMACY

Dr. N. S. Vyawahare M. Pharm. Ph.D. Principal Dr. N. S. Vyawahare completed his Graduation (B. Pharm.) as well as Doctoral study (PhD) from S. N. Institute of Pharmacy, Pusad and Post Graduation (M. Pharm.) from K.L.E.S. College of Pharmacy, Belgaum.

He has total 17 years of teaching & research experience. He is recognized as P.G. teacher & Ph.D. guide of Savitribai Phule Pune University and many other universities. Apart from academic administration, he is actively involved in preclinical research and extend his services to many pharmaceutical industries. He has presented his research work in many national & international conferences held in India and abroad.

He has published more than 60 research papers in national & international journals. He has authored six books which are extensively used by Pharmacy students across the country. He has renderd his services as a Member, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University. He is also official trainer for Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council of India's training program for community pharmacist.

For his professional contribution he has been conferred with “Young Scientist Award” by the society of science and environment and “Shikshak Sanman Award” by Lion’s Club International.

He is a life member of official organizations like Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) etc. Currently he is working in the capacity of spoke person of APTI (Maharashra Branch) and joint secretary of IPA Pune Branch.

PROFILE OF PRINCIPAL – D. PHARMACY

Dr. Sanjeev V. Deshpande M. Pharm, Ph.D. Principal Dr. S. V. Deshpande has completed Graduation in Pharmacy from Government College of Pharmacy, Karad, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Post Graduation in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from D.A.V.V. Indore M.P. He has completed Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. He has 26 yrs. of professional standing. During this span, he was associated with College of Pharmacy, Pedhambe, Chiplun for two years (1990-1992), College of pharmacy Malegaon, Baramati for eight years (1992-2000) as an Incharge Principal of College of Pharmacy, Satara for two years (2000-2002) and Pad. Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy (July 2002-March2015). He has joined as Principal of this institute on 1st April 2015.

He is a recognized PG teacher of Savitribai Phule Pune University. He has guided 20 M. Pharm. students. He has total 25 International & National publications in reputed journals to his credit. His research areas include Pharmaceutical, Medicinal and Phytochemistry. He is also a Life member of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) & Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA).

DR. D. Y. PATIL PRATISHTHAN CAMPUS AND COLLEGE Dr. D. Y. Patil Pratishthan was established by Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil in 1990 with the aim of providing quality education in all fields thus disseminating education to deserving students and thereby helping them to realize their dreams of career in professional courses. It runs several institutes in Pune, Kolhapur and Navi Mumbai in Pharmacy, Engineering, Medical Sciences, Dental, Architecture, Management.

Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy was established in 1999 with B. Pharm Course and started its M. Pharm. Pharmaceutics, Quality Assurance Technique course and Ph.D. in the year 2010, 2012 and 2015 respectively. Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) was established in 2003.

Both Pharmacy colleges are functioning in the Dr. D. Y. Patil Educational Complex, Akurdi, Pune - 411 044, which is spread over Thirty Two acres of lush green land with nine other professional institutes. ELIGIBILITY FIRST YEAR DIPLOMA IN PHARMACY (D. PHARM.) The candidates should be an Indian national.

Candidate should have passed the HSC examination with Physics & Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects Mathematics or Biology (Botany & Zoology).

FIRST YEAR BACHELOR OF PHARMACY (B. PHARM.) Candidate should have passed the HSC examination or its equivalent examination with Physics & Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the subject Biology / Mathematics / Biotechnology & obtained minimum 45% marks (at least 40% marks in case of Backward Class category and person with disability from Maharashtra State only) in the above subjects taken together. Candidate should have obtained score in MHT-CET 2016.

DIRECT SECOND YEAR BACHELOR OF PHARMACY (B. PHARM.) (Lateral Entry): Candidate should have passed Diploma in Pharmacy with at least 45% marks (at least 40% marks in case of Backward Class category and person with disability from Maharashtra State only) from AICTE/PCI approved institution.

DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY The field of Pharmacology & Toxicology are by its natural interdisciplinary bio-medical approach, dawning upon the foundation and approaches of Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Cell-Biology, Molecular Biology & Genetics. Pharmacology aims to investigate fundamental aspects of drug effects, drug interaction, cellular and molecular, bioregulatory mechanisms for purpose of drug discovery and pharmacotherapy.

Pharmacology deals with application of drug treatment to patients in hospitals or clinics. It ensures the most appropriate & safe use of medicines. Knowledge & skill relative to pharmacology & pharmacotherapy use by pharmacist to communicate with other health care professionals and patients in order to promote the effective use of medicines in hospitals & primary care.

Shirode DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOGNOSY Herbal medicine is now making dramatic comeback, Pharmacognosy is specific discipline which deals with versatile studies of the drug and auxiliary substances of biological origin (Plants, Animals & Minerals). This subject provides information about procedure used in manufacturing of materials of natural origin, extraction, isolation, purification of medicinal substances and quality control.

In Extracurricular Activities this Institute won Overall Runner up Trophy in Pune region organized by Indian Pharmaceutical Association during National Pharmacy week. This institute also won Runner up Trophy in Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament in 2015 - 16.

CO-CURRICULAR & EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES INDUSTRY INSTITUTE INTERACTION : Since the college is located in the industrial belt of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad which conspicuously houses the reputed Pharmaceutical Industries like Lupin Research Park, Lupin Bioresearch center, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Advinus Therapeutis Ltd., Twlight Litaka Pharma Ltd., Nulife Pharmaceuticals, Neon Laboratories, Cipla Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Ranbaxy Laboratories etc. The constant interactions with these industries pay rich dividends to our student. More over frequent industry visits, guest lectures by experts from these industries give the budding pharmacist much needed wide exposure and knowledge of recent developments in the pharmacy profession.

TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL / CAMPUS RECRUITMENT ACTIVITIES: “ Galore of opportunities for those who deserve”.

The Training and Placement Cell is an integral part of any institute in today's competitive world. The globalization of pharmaceutical industry in turn demand for highly competent professionals. In fact, Training & Placement activities are organized throughout the year with a view to prepare the prospective learners for the campus selection programs. Various reputed industries across the country visit this college regularly for campus recruitment programs. The cell also plays a vital role in bringing the students and industrial community together for a mutually satisfying employment relationship. The cell plays a crucial role in counseling and guiding the learners of the institute for their successful career placement which is an important interface between the stages of completion of academic program of the students and their entry into the suitable employment.

SEMINARS /SYMPOSIA / CONFERENCE/ WORKSHOPS The college regularly organises various symposia for our students. Further guest lectures, seminar and workshop on personality development, soft skills, interview techniques, career guidance etc, are periodically organized for all round development of our students. The Faculty are also encouraged and supported to participate in various national and international conferences.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: The faculty and students are actively involved in various research activities. College has earned number of research grants from AICTE, Savitribai Phule Pune University & Pharmaceutical industries. Students are encouraged to participate in national and international conference for presentation of their research work.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES AND TOURNAMENTS The college organise various sports events annually at interdisciplinary and intercollegiate levels to promote sportmanship, team spirit, co-ordination skills etc. amongst the students. Prizes and certificates are given to acknowledge the talents of the students.

AMENITIES :HOSTEL Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Pratishthan has seperate hostel facilities for boys and girls in the vicinity of the college premises. The hostels are well furnished, airy and are provided with round the clock security, mess and canteen facility. Besides these there are private rooms available on rental basis near the college campus at affordable rates.

STUDENTS CONSUMER CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY All day to day necessities as well as stationery items are available at reasonable rates in the Society's Cooperative Stores which is adjacent to college premises and hostel.

CANTEEN Total three canteens are functioning in the campus where hygienic meals are served at reasonable rates.

AUDITORIUM The college has well equipped and decorated two auditoriums namely Dyanprasad with seating capacity of 250 and The Shantai with 512 respectively, It has being extensively used for seminars, workshops, symposia training sessions and guest lectures.

DISCIPLINE Rules and regulations : Various rules and regulations are framed by the college for the safety of the student and to make education more interesting and conducive. · The student shall strictly obey the instructions given by the college from time to time. · The student shall display his/her Smart Card . · The student shall be regular and punctual in attending the theory classes and practicals. · Minimum 75 % attendance for the theory and practical sessions separately is mandatory as per the rules of Savitribai Phule Pune University.

· Ragging in any form within or outside the college and hostels is totally banned. When brought to the notice, defaulters are liable for punishment as per the directives of Supreme Court of India. · The students should not involve in any such activity which may cause damage to the college reputation as well as property.

PHARMACIST’S OATH At this time, I vow to devote my professional life to theI swear by the code of Ethics of Pharmacy council of India in relation with the community and shall acts as an integral part of health care team.

I shall uphold the laws and standards governing my profession.

I shall strive to perfect and enlarge my knowledge to contribute to the advancement of pharmacy and public health.

I shall follow the system which I consider best for pharmaceutical care and counselling of patients.

I shall endeavour to discover and manufacture drugs of quality to alleviate sufferings of humanity.

I shall hold in confidence the knowledge gained about the patients in connection with my professional practice and never divulge unless compelled to do so by the law.

I shall associate with organisations having their objectives for betterment of the Profession of Pharmacy and make contribution to carry out the work of those organisations.

While I continue to keep this oath unviolated , may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of pharmacy respected by all, at all times!

Should I trespass and violate this oath , may the reverse be my lot!
