would like to welcome each of you to the First Annual Mountain Classic Sale. While this is certainly not the first sale at Teets Cattle, we feel like this sale is a new beginning and a new direction for our program. First and foremost, we would like to thank every single buyer and bidder who has supported our program over the years and we cannot thank you enough for believing in our direction and our program. The backbone of our business and livelihood is based on the cattle industry and thus we are always looking to the future to find ways to improve our place in this world.

Over the years, we have held multiple family discussions at the kitchen table as to how to change things up within this industry. The East Coast is rich with tradition with multiple generational owned herds, who raise high quality cattle that have competed at the highest of levels in National Shows. Our thought was why not combine the best cattle we could find on the East Coast with the best available in the West and put them together in Lost River, WV. Thus the decision was made to combine forces with Griswold Cattle to bring the “West to the East”. Our main goal is to give each of you the opportunity to come to one convenient location to view only the very best representatives from multiple herds.

The open heifer division for this sale is on a whole new level for those who have joined us in the past.

In our travels the last few years, we have come to realize the ever growing importance of utilizing the top cow families in this industry. As you study through this set, you’ll notice the not only are these females in our opinion at a high level, they are also backed by some serious cow power. These females come to you from some of the top programs in the country. The consignors in this sale are not just consignors, we look at these people as friends in this industry and we believe in their programs and values as producers.

The bred heifer division is BIG this year, as we will be offering 160+ head in this lineup. As we look across the cattle industry it is our view that that the next couple years are going to be extremely good. If you look at the drought affects in the western regions coupled with rising commodity prices across all sectors, it will place cattle producers in a steady seat for the next few years. This set of females offer a degree of uniformity in volume--the likes of which you seldom see East of the Mississippi. As you look into this group, please realize we only had time to picture a handful so there are quite a few high end females who didn’t find a path to the picture pen in time for this book.

The bulls are in good rig and ready to go right onto pasture for fall breeding. These bulls are all trich free, and have passed their breeding soundness tests. The bulls are built to add the pounds and look to your programs.

At Teets Cattle we believe that in order for the cattle industry to succeed, as producers we must provide a value added product. That is why the decision has been made to focus on the quality within this sale. Every lot listed in this book we feel can make an impact in the future. As we move forward with this sale we look forward to working with our buyers to market their livestock. We will ask each of you to live up to the standards of those at the top of this market, but we are here to help along the way with what is needed to succeed. We are all in this business together and we look forward to helping each of you reach your goals.

We strongly encourage those interested in this lineup to come early to view this set in person. All of the bred heifers will be re-pregnancy examined and sale tagged by October 14th and the pasture gates will be opened up for viewing at that time. We will also have the sale cattle penned by October 28th if you want to wait to see them sorted into groups. The open heifers will be ran into the sale ring, while the bred heifers and bulls will be sold on video screens to speed up the efficiency of the auction. Terms of payment are cash or good check. No cattle will be loaded until approved by sale clerks. Please make payment within 30 days of the sale, any bills past 30 days will be subject to a 3% service charge.

All cattle sell under the terms and conditions of their respective breed associations. All announcements made on the supplement sheet or on the sale block will take precedence over material presented in this book. EPD’s are based off fall of 2020. Please leave all transfer instructions with the sale clerks following the auction.

BREEDING INFORMATION

The pregnancy status reported is the projected months safe-in-calf as of sale day. All of the bred females that are noted “Likely safe AI” are just what that means - likely AI bred. We spend a lot of time preg checking these; we won’t get every one right, but we will dang sure get most of them right. The females that only have certain months bred on their breeding means they are likely bred to the clean up bulls, unless the pasture exposed is otherwise noted. We won’t get everyone of those right either - some of them will calve to their AI date.

TRUCKING

We will work with you to find the most reasonable and economical trucking available. Dwyer will have a trailer available to haul back to Illinois Sale Day.

HEARD HEALTH

All cattle will have papers for interstate travel, and all bred females will be recently pregnancy checked. Buyers of bred cattle have 21 days to re-pregnancy check purchases. If any animals are found to be open please contact the seller or sale management within that 21 day period for an adjustment to be made. Sale Vet Lost River Animal Hospital, PLLC - Lost River, WV.

The Teets and Griswold programs are built with the foundation on real world production values of the cattle industry with an eye on the look needed for value added seed stock. One unique aspect of this group of bred heifers is the uniformity being presented. It is so hard to purchase a trailer load, let alone a pot load of similar bred and designed females East of the Mississippi. If you sell your cattle by the pound or by the group, this uniformity will pay you dividends for years to come. You can also utilize this uniformity to build the basis of a bullet proof cow herd to raise high end bulls or show females. As any astute cattle person will tell you uniformity is the key to the industry.

We have provided you all of the information we know to date on the females in this book and many of the females sell likely safe AI to proven calving ease bulls. We will be re-pregnancy checking this entire group as we sale tag them and will post those results online at www.dwyercattle.com. All of the cattle in this sale book will be videoed prior to the sale and those video previews will also be posted online.
