With that being said, from the true leader and support of this operation, I myself need to thank my crew here at JSC. We have had some turnover on all fronts of the sale team here at JSC, but I feel the crew we have assembled is second to none. Jenna Von Sossan has taken over for Tyler Humphrey as our head of marketing and customer relations, as Humpy took on a larger role at SCO, and we wish him luck and thank him for all his help in years past and continued technical support.

We have also added some young men that have the passion and work ethic to go a long way in this industry.

Sam Burtsfield was the first one of the new hires and I believe in his short time here he knows the cows and pedigrees better than I do some days. There hasn’t been a time when I left this late summer and fall where I didn’t feel comfortable knowing he would handle it. The next one to come was Quinton Ball, who has also been awesome around here.

To find help that cares the way he does is rare, especially in this day and age with an unmatched work ethic. We also have three young men that have returned from years past that all this couldn’t be done without, Cody Wright, Justin Reed, and Logan Heffner, who come between and after college and high school classes.

I always joke that TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK! But I truly believe in this quote.

With all that being said, none of this is possible without our customer base. Over the years we have met lifelong friends and business partners that will last a lifetime. Welcome to the Offering

Welcome to the 14th Annual High Standards Female Sale!

Please accept this as your personal invitation to our sale event in Harrod, Ohio on November 3, 2018.

As I walk through this year’s sale cattle, it is not hard to say I believe this is the best set of cattle we have ever offered for sale. My reason for saying this is due to the show record over the last year. It has been an extremely humbling year from Louisville to Denver, where we have had five champions along with more class and division winners, the Ohio Beef Expo, Junior National shows, State Fairs, and jackpot shows, having champions at all of the above levels.

This year’s sale offers the best in the high and low percent Simmentals, purebred Maines, Maintainers, and a great set of Herefords along with Charolais composites.

The Jones Show Cattle crew is second to none!

Todd Herman is our cow/calf manager and handles our day to day operation in breeding, calving, and our ET program. If you want to find Todd during calving season, go to the calving barn at 6:30am and he will be there until the last calf is born and is up nursing.

Nick Strain has been our feedlot manager and overall farm manager for fifteen years. He does a great job with feed and overall health of our feedlot animals.

Nick Hulsmeyer has been our show barn manager now for over eleven years and each year he exceeds my highest expectations. We know he will have every heifer ready to be shown with the best hair coat and body conditioning come show day. I was telling Nick in Denver last year how great our cattle looked and thanking him for his hard work and he looked at me saying “it’s easy to do when Troy picks the bulls to breed our cattle to, he does a great job and gives me great cattle to work with, don’t ever give the job to anyone else.”

For the last year, Allie Warnimont has been assisting Nick in the show barn and has been a great help with the feeding, daily care of the show heifers, and keeping the show barn under control when Nick has other duties. The two of them make a great team.

I realize that for thirteen years Troy has written every letter for the catalog and has given every speech thanking everyone else and never himself. Troy is the heart and soul of Jones Show Cattle. He and his dedicated staff work endless hours year-round with calving season, breeding season, beef expos, junior national shows, state and county fairs, NAILE, NWSS, and the High Standards Female Sale, and then it all starts over again.

I would like to thank Troy’s wife, Sara, and their three kids for the time they let him spend in the barn.

At JSC we are committed to the Junior Livestock Program and feel that in order for Livestock to continue to be a driving force in this country, those of us producing show stock and seed stock must help to support these programs. With that in mind we are continuing our Junior Incentive Program.

1. Awards will be given in the form of either 1/2 cash and 1/2 sale credit or full sale credit at any JSC sale or animal purchased from JSC through a consignment sale.

2. Awards are not eligible for cattle that are transferred to another exhibitor.

3. Exhibitor must provide a picture at the show.

4. Credit & reward must be used/claimed within 24 months.

Ohio’s Premier bred, born, and raised steer & heifer youth event. This show will be held in conjunction with the Ohio Beef Expo & Ohio State Fair, and will recognize cattle that are bred and born in the state of Ohio. At JSC we feel strongly about this program and all of the open heifers in this sale are eligible with the exception of Lots 5, 5A, 5B, 9, 22, & 36. Hammer Time lead off the Christmas Collection Sale, commanding $110,000 in semen shares that day being selected by some of the top cattlemen in the country.

Since that time Hammer Time was selected the Reserve Champion Bull at the NWSS and with very limited usage in his first calf crop. Placed progeny right at the top of our sale group. Health papers for interstate travel will be available. Bred females have been pregnancy checked safe by a licensed Veterinarian. The buyer has within 21 days following the sale to re-pregnancy test their purchases.

If any animals are found open within those 21 days you must notify Troy at once for an adjustment to be made.

Updated breeding information will be available on a supplement sheet sale day, this sheet will take precedence over statements in the sale catalog.

Terms & Conditions:

Cattle sell per the terms & conditions of their breed associations. Announcements from the Auction Block on Sale Day regarding the cattle selling in this sale will take precedence over the information printed in this catalog.

No cattle will be loaded until paid for. Terms are cash, check with proper ID (i.e. Driver’s license) or Master Card/Visa will be accepted with a 3% fee. For example, if you are the successful bidder at $1,000 and you charge your purchase using your credit card. Your credit card statement will show a payment of $1,030.

If you can’t attend the sale, contact one of the owners, sale managers, or consultants for information regarding our sight unseen buyer guarantee. We will arrange for a member of the sale staff to discuss the cattle with you. Bidding can be done via phone or by a confidential bid prior to the sale. Please call between October 30th - November 2nd to obtain a bidder number. We will arrange to have someone call you when the lot(s) you are interested in, enters the sale ring. Please note that our sale will start on time and will move quickly, so be prepared to make your bids promptly.

Jones Flush Policy:

Jones Show Cattle reserves the right to purchase one flush on all of the lots sold in this sale. If JSC exercises this right the flush purchase price will be $3,000 with all work to be done at buyer’s convenience and seller’s expense.

Trucking:

We will assist you in finding the most reasonable trucking options possible. Dwyer Cattle will have a truck available to haul cattle back to Illinois.

Insurance:

Insurance will be available through James F. Bessler of Great American Insurance Group phone 815899-9121. Talk to Nick Dwyer after the sale to insure your purchases.

Sexed Semen Disclaimer:

Due to the fact that sexed semen purchased only guarantees the chances of a heifer being 90%, we will not be able to guarantee that a heifer will result from the pregnancy. We do however guarantee that sexed semen was used on the lots listed as such.
