Once again I’d like to Welcome everyone to our 8th annual production sale. It’s an exciting time for us to share our continued progress in making our cattle better and we are confident you will be impressed with the depth of quality. We encourage you to come see for yourself!
What a great time to be in the cattle business as feeder cattle and breeding heifers are nearing all time highs at local markets. It’s been a struggle to get where we are and hopefully the good times are here to stay for awhile.
Investing in great genetics has been a passion of mine since I started breeding cattle 35 years ago. Our offering this year will include several progeny of our leading donors and our continued emphasis on embryo transfer has led us to offer multiple full brothers as well as leading females that can generate serious dollars for their new owners. As always, we our offering another set of bred heifers from the heart of our herd. This is not a decision made easily, but as an avenue to keep our numbers in check. These females will give you an opportunity to see first hand what our entire operation is founded on. Our cowherd.
Again we welcome you Friday night the 24th of January to Russell IA or anytime prior to the sale day at the farm. As with year’s past yearling bulls can come back to our farm for care until April 1, 2025 for no additional cost. Strong Aged bulls will be delivered within a week of the sale.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST

The month of November is always busy around here and it’s then I have to work around the “torching crew’s” schedule. Layne Robinson drags Ryan and Shelby around the midwest torching bulls and breds and every now and then they find a diamond in the rough. While at Hoovers Angus in Diagonal Iowa one fall they come across a sire group of a bull they call Trophy Class. Ryan brought some semen home and we started breeding some baldies to him. While most of these calves are in the fall herd this year Ryan picked out one of his favorites and this son of Trophy class has about as much length and muscle as any sim-solution bull we have ever raised. Really extended in his front one third he makes a nice bull that is the “cowman’s” kind.

Due 2/16/25 to KBHR Bold Ruler - Carrying a Bull
Due 2/15/25 to Sandhill Swag - Carrying a Heifer
We sold a couple of these matings as bulls in last year’s sale and I knew the females would be just as good. Good functional cattle with superior feet and legs the True North’s have a little more size than the Bardot cow usually kicks out. Awesome brood cow prospects that are robust in their build with extra mass in their ribcage design.

These turnpike daughters will have some friends on sale day as we have admired them from day one! Turnpike’s have stood the test of time and are still some of my favorite cattle. Their dam is the famous “Socks” that Ryan campaigned back in “13” and we have sold countless calves out of.

This was a really hard decision to let this female go. Not only is she striking in her appearance, but check out her genetic makeup. You can put a lot of miles on trying to find a bred heifer of this caliber let along a EPD profile to go along with her. Lot

If you follow our program at all you can see our dedication in raising cattle with strong maternal traits as “Cow Families” are as important to us as anything. The Lock Down bull has been used extensively in our herd as you can see and the Bram Load 605 is one we raised and sold in one of our first production sales. His mother was one of our favorite show heifers from our good friends at Ruby Cattle Company and was selected for her easy fleshing and maternal look. Two years after we sold the bull we were able to purchase him back and began to use him in large group cleanup situations. Although we never got a good picture of him mainly because he was covering spring and fall duties he was a big footed, stout sided easy doing type of bull. He has sired countless females that we have sold and kept as well in our own herd. He produces the type, kind, and has the longevity to stay in the herd for several years. These females are hard to let go as they have become the foundation kind our herd revolves around.

We used this Ecore bull as cleanup behind our heifers and it’s really a shame we never got very many calves as our AI % was usually pretty good. This female boasts a nice set of numbers and goes back to the lock n load son we used so extensively.

The Bardot cow has built quite the reputation for herself, and we feel fortunate to have included her influence in several past sales. These two purebred heifers by 24 karat are symmetrical and balanced in their design, coupled by the fact they are perfect structured and their value as breeding pieces could be invaluable.

A pair of Angus breds with some punch that complement each other very well. The Rice Standout bull was one I chose to mate up with the Bardot cow as I have always been fascinated with his sire Musgrave 316. Whether males or females his cattle have always been highly profitable and saleable.

Owned with Werning Cattle & Triangle J
Sandhills Swag was the top selling bull in the 2024 Triangle J Ranch bull sale we selected with Werning Cattle. He comes at you with great feet and leg structure and a stylish profile. Extremely long and extended up through his front end and still has a ton of power and performance! Since acquiring this bull us as well as Werning’s have ran him extensively and anxiously await the results of his rookie calf crop. This bull has matured into an absolute stud even with heavy usage. Give us a call to view additional pictures or videos of him as a mature bull. Semen is available through the owners.
