We look forward to welcoming each of you back to the farm for this year’s 34th Annual Sunnyhill Angus Bull and Female Sale. 2024 marks our 84th year in the Angus Industry and we truly feel there is no better time than now to be in the Beef Business. As you study market reports and talk to people across the industry it’s easy to see the demand for a quality product is at an all time high. Currently as I sit to write this letter we are looking at a national cow herd at a low not seen since 1951 and a demand for all phases of livestock far outpacing the current supply. Thus far this winter we’ve seen a few challenges but for the most part it’s been a pretty good winter all things considered and it looks as if the worries of lack of available feed are taking a back burner with the warmer than usual temperatures on the horizon. With green grass on the horizon now is the time to set yourself up for a fun fall harvest this season. The cattle for this years offering I truly feel are as deep a group as I’ve had in recent year’s. The bulls came off the cows in very good shape and haven’t taken a step back since. I’m very proud of the calm disposition throughout this group as well as the added frame and length of body these bulls are carrying. If you’re looking for a group to add product to your wean pen I feel their are multiple candidates to fit the bill. The female end has also wintered very well and the open heifers are just starting to cycle and will be ready for breeding season very soon. As always we will offer a hand selected group of cows for this sale with some of those who might be pairs by sale day. These cows have withstood our strict standards over the years and are all 100% home raised females. If you’re looking to increase your herd this group of females are sure to get the job done for your firm like they have done for me over the years. With that I look forward to meeting with past customers and getting to know some new faces this year and I hope each of you can find some time to make the trip to Fairview to see this group in person.
