Buildin’ A Brand Production Sale - Page 1

Please consider this your personal invitation to join us for the 8th Annual “Buildin’ A Brand” production sale. We truly appreciate the fact that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to evaluate our program and we hope you find the cattle represented here to offer an opportunity to add value to your operation. We’re grateful for all the positive feedback and success stories from those that have purchased cattle from us in years past. It is very satisfying to know that our unwavering commitment to producing highly efficient, functional cattle that are productive, fertile, and long lasting is able to be utilized outside of our own operation. We concentrate very hard on building up from cow families that have these necessary traits deeply imbedded in their heritage. This leads to a much higher degree of consistency in the success of generational progression. We also maintain a firm belief that these SimAngus cattle are still the most effective tool in achieving these goals and therefore are the most logical path to the advancement and ultimate success of the Simmental breed. Most importantly we wish to thank all of those who help us throughout the year. Our wives and families must be at the top of this long list as they fix all the meals to keep the crews that work around here well fed and taken care of. We are each blessed with wives that are hard working and very supportive of this lifestyle, yet not afraid to keep us in line when the need arises ;) This event would not be possible without the incredible sales team that helps represent our operation. These gentlemen are true professionals in their respective fields and we are very proud to call them friends. We certainly can’t convey enough thanks to all the guys and gals that help around here with the day to day sale preperation, many of which have been with us for years. You simply cannot know just how much all of your help and support means to us. Please feel free to call, text, or email us if we can be of any assistance or answer any questions. Thanks for your time and God Bless, The Sandeens

She has lead our program for a number of years due to the fact that she tends to dominantly transmit her positive attributes into her progeny, regardless of what sire is used. Therefore, we have chosen mating options based strongly upon the cow families they represent in order to concentrate and improve the generational progression. We feel both Bankroll & Battle Cry represent this philosophy very well and we anxiously await the result. Both matings will result in 3/4 SM 1/4 AN progeny, guarantee one pregnancy per package. Bankroll embryos are made with conventional semen, while the Battle Cry embryos are Sexed Female embryos. Sandeen Genetics

Donna 6404 is exactly the type and kind of female that originally brought the Donna cows to the forefront. They’ve garnered the appreciation of the maternal minded, production oriented, forward thinking cattlemen for a number of years now. 6404 is a bold sprung, wide centered individual that is highly functional and efficient in her design. She definitely has that “Donna look” about her that is so prominent in this cow family. Her sire, Hard as Steel, is a bull that we’ve come to appreciate over the past few years for his consistent ability to put out cattle with the practical design and functionality that we demand and yet offers the added performance necessary in production agriculture. There’s an obvious advantage in utilizing these cattle that breed true to form from the standpoint of their ability to produce highly predictable and desirable genetics, time after time. With all this in mind it’s understandable why we might consider 6404 to be one of the most potent breeding female ever derived from the Donna tribe, and why we felt the need to harvest these superior genetics for our own generational progress. Therefore once 6404 was 60 days bred we had Trans Ova perform an IVF cycle on her where she, on only a starter dose of hormones, produced 16 high quality embryos by the $205k W/C Bankroll. We will not only be offering one of the greatest females to ever come through our program in her entirety, but also offering a genetic package of 3 of these Bankroll embryos as the Lot 2A. Sandeen Donna 5033 was thought by many last year, to have been the finest specimen ever to come through the Sandeen program. One would be hard pressed to argue if you like a powerfully constructed female that’s bold ribbed, long necked, and has a set of numbers that are about as good as she is on the hoof. When the gavel finally dropped she had set the record as the highest selling bred heifer ever to leave our place at $90,000 going to Tom Fullenkamp. TF Cattle are offering the opportunity here to own genetics by the $90,000 Donna 5033 and W/C Bankroll, the highly acclaimed $205,000 high selling bull from Werning’s 2017 sale. This mating lines up two of the most prominent cows in the history of the Simmental breed, Sandeen Donna 8386 and Werning KP 8543U. Absolute cutting edge genetics that could very likely help put a younger and up and coming breeder on the map or help to enhance an already established operation. Mating will result in 3/4 SM 1/4 AN progeny, guarantee one pregnancy per package these embryos are sexed female. TF Cattle

Profit x Full Sibling to Lot 4

It just doesn’t get any more proven around here than Lock n Load x Donna 8386 mating. Probably had more satisfied customers with full siblings to lot 4 than any other mating we’ve had to date. Recently Speas Farms produced the Calf Champion female at the American Royal with their LnL x 8386 daughter purchased in our 2015 Sale. Everybody that has purchased one of these siblings over the past few years has the same report. They look incredible when they calve, with excellent udder uniformity and are extremely generous from a milking standpoint. One other very important aspect from a seedstock breeders view, is that they have nearly all been flushed as first calf heifers and have been making 8 to 16 embryos. Very good results for first calvers with calves at side! We’ve been so impressed with these LnL x Donna females, and with 6086 in particular, that at 60 days bred we had Trans Ova perform an IVF asperation on her that netted 21 high grade embryos. Certainly predictable, productive, revenue generating capabilities in Sandeen Donna 6086. Sandeen Genetics Saturday December 9, 2017 at High Noon - Page 6

We’ve never before sold an open show heifer in our sale from the Donna 8386 cow because they always make the best breds, however, 7066 has such an undeniable show ring “goodness” about her that it seemed a shame to let the opportunity slip by for someone to campaign “a Donna” on the tan bark. 7008 represents the “Sandeen Kind” very well. This is our idea of what a future donor cow looks like at this stage of life. She’s a wide centered, boldly constructed female with a large well-designed hoof and plenty of flexibility when on the move. She possesses the proper upward alignment of her neck-shoulder junction which we feel to be in direct correlation with comfort of movement. Aside from her physical appeal she is backed by several generations, on both sides of her pedigree, of highly fertile, great milking, good uddered matrons with added performance in a modern package. It’s highly unlikely that this one can breed any way other than true-to-form due to the fact that she is the top member of our most consistently impressive flush of the 2017 season. We truly believe there is an incredible amount of untapped potential with 7008 in terms of producing breed altering Purebreds genetics. Sandeen Genetics

At his point it would appear that our first Upper Class donor, 4041, is definitely holding her own and going to make her own positive contributions to the program. Sandeen Genetics & Fritchey

6761 is one impressive and intriguing individual that we firmly believe could make a monumental contribution to the Simmental breed! She is backed by generations of cattle that are bred for function, production and efficiency at the highest level. Her maternal sister by Chisholm topped the female sector of our 2012 sale at $26,000 going to Brandon Bird, TX. This girl possesses a uniqueness that I’ve noted in some of our “Donna” sale features. She is able to maintain a level of efficiency that parallels, or even surpasses, many of her contemporaries that are a frame score and a half smaller. An overwhelmingly massive specimen from forerib to flank and incredibly stout and functional in terms of her overall skeletal design. The impeccability of her structural make up is evident by her flawless and comfortable movement when set into motion. She travels wide at the ground on a large hoof and flexes effortlessly at each necessary hinge point. She also demonstrates that proper upward alignment of the neck-shoulder junction that we have been working diligently to consistently replicate throughout our herd. This is undeniably one of the most unique and useful females thats ever been produced at Sandeen’s, especially when you add the 131 API into the equation. This is likely the starting point of another highly prominent cow family. Sandeen Genetics

She’s a very impressive physical specimen if you have an appreciation for stout, big bodied forage efficient type cattle. Our original plan when buying her was to find an Angus donor to make halfblood with from the Lock-N-Load lines. Though I wish we had a few more of them, this pair being offered here are spot on for what we were shooting for. They are not extreme either way in terms of frame size, yet they are very efficient, three dimensional, functional individuals. The exceptional amount of balance between stoutness and function that is exhibited by the 6828 heifer would tend to exemplify very well why we have begun to lean more towards our W/C Lock N Load 1143Y bull, who is a full brother to Loaded Up, but tends to breed with a bit more performance and a very high degree of structural integrity. 1143Y stands on a huge square foot with depth of heal that you just simply can’t find every day, and he seems to consistently passes that on to his offspring. AI bred 6/19 to HOC/SWC Conagher #3100807 6049 exhibits an incredible combination of overwhelming mass and dimension that flawlessly transitions into perhaps the most feminine and angular front one-third of any bred female in the offering. She stands true at the ground and possesses that very same fluid movement that made her full sister, 5049, a crowd favorite at last year’s sale and now a pasture favorite for Bauer Simmentals, IL. 6049 is another excellent example of why we have come to put so much faith in the 1143Y bull. He will not produce extremes in any way, which may turn some people off. However, he will consistently and without flaw produce extremely functional fault free, “no holes” type cattle that we have really come to appreciate. They possess a lot of what some might consider “convenience traits” such as calving ease, a quiet disposition, forage efficiency and a high degree of structural integrity that in turn gives us longevity. Rest assured, this is a female that comes highly recommended from our program. Sandeen Genetics Saturday December 9, 2017 at High Noon - Page 22

Juanada is a name that has been synonymous with forage efficient, functional and yet attractively designed cattle in the maternal sectors of the Angus Breed for decades. Sandeen Juanada 628 transitions those very same traits into the Simmental world with a bit more overall size and scale than her ancestors yet an astonishing amount of fleshing ability, relatively speaking. She is a widely constructed, bold sprung individual with just an absolute abundance of mass and dimension. She possesses many of the attributes needed, structurally and otherwise, to compliment a number of the popular sires being used today to produce Simmental Show cattle. Sandeen Genetics

I think you would agree, one would have to be hard pressed to call this pair of females “hard” or “tight ribbed”. I would more likely tend to describe them as wide centered, bold sprung, ground pounding… maybe even “Ohlde type” females that are loose in their structure and right in their kind for fescue country. 6021 traces back to a really good Montana bred Purebred Simmental donor that left us with a few very good, productive halfblood daughters. 640 is out of a first calf heifer that came out of the Drake program and is backed by some Coleman Angus breeding. Both bred for success the first time out with 6021 carrying a bullseye and 640 an 1143Y. Sandeen Genetics

Fleckvieh. These two programs have historically represented the very best in their respective fields and come to complement one another quite well. After several years of watching these females in production it was noted that the 9568 cow had jumped though all the hoops year in and year out. From a practical standpoint she covers all the bases; she settles first service every year, has a great udder, milks very well always weaning one of the heaviest calves and she’s a very attractive blaze faced cow with fault free structure and excellent feet. This lead us to the belief that cows that can do that need to be multiplied in order for generational progress to be made. The resulting progeny being offered here are about as consistently functional and efficient as we can make them while still possessing a respectable degree of performance. These girls are stout in terms of their skeletal design with a tremendous amount of internal dimension. They are sound structured, good footed cattle that will demonstrate an unsurpassed production level for many years to come. Sandeen Genetics CE 13.4

6711 goes back to one of our most dominant and succesful cow families, Enchantress. This cow line has produced a Broker son who went on to earn Champion % Simmental bull honors at the Iowa State Fair. That bull later sold at the Iowa Beef Expo for $10,500 to Teets Cattle of West Virginia. This female is soft structured, stout featured, and yet still maintains that eye catching look. Her first calf by 1143Y, could be really exciting.

Another daughter of our great Enchantress donor who carries on all her mothers cow power. This Lutton daughter is striking in her front one third, powerful across her top, and so sound when set in motion. I really believe this one can carry her family name with pride and will make a great cornerstone female for any program. Scottland Genetics

He offers a very unique package which couples generations of calving ease with an undeniable pedigree for providing production oriented females that absolutely satisfy the most scrutinizing of buyers. The Lock N Load x Donna 8386 mating has worked many times over as is apparent by the numerous high selling full sister pictured to support this claim. This is a proven pedigree makes Guns Loaded a full brother to the exciting $60,000 Fulton/Bird donor, Sandeen Donna 4232 along many other sale topping females. He, however, will be the first male progeny ever offered at public auction carrying these bloodlines. High probability of this being a “go to” calving ease semen sire in the near future for heifer breeding projects, that can also put out highly marketable offspring. Sandeen Genetics
