It is with great pride and anticipation that we welcome you to the 16th Annual Foundation Female Sale th and 4 Annual Rare Semen & Embryo Auction. This year’s lineup of cattle and genetic offerings is as deep and diverse a set as any we have assembled in our history. The cattle represented in this catalog come to you from a lineup of over 30 producers from all across the nation, who have dug deep into their cow herds to give you the opportunity to purchase some of their finest September 1st and 2nd. On one of these hot days this summer I caught a program on PBS interviewing Warren Buffet discussing the 2008 financial crisis. During the interview he made the comment “Be fearless when others are fearful, and fearful when others are fearless”. That statement absolutely rings true to this moment in the cattle industry. When I view the cattle industry at this moment I see only one negative and a whole host of positives. For the positives we are looking at the lowest national cow numbers in 70 years, the show community is the strongest and largest it has been in decades due to the hard work of show sponsors all across the nation, as well as a financial outlook for cattle that has never looked better. Just imagine the prices that will exist this spring and next fall when the drought ceases and the pastures turn green. The only negative facing the nation’s cowherd is a feed shortage, which can be overcome. With that in mind the need to retain and purchase efficient, high quality cattle will be even more important. The cattle comprised in this sale exemplify feed efficiency and quality; these females are the type that will become the Foundation of herds all across the nation. The sale features in this offering are deep and diverse including RC Miss Kansa the dam of the 2012 Reserve Champion Simmental heifer and GXG Blackbird the 2012 National Western Stock Show Champion Simmental Female. The Semen & Embryo sale will feature some of the hottest young donor females in the nation including Miss USA, Valentine, Kansa, Jade’s Irish Rose, and many others. For those who wish to travel by plane, the Peoria and Moline airports are located 60 miles from Roseville. There is also an airport in Monmouth, IL, no commercial airlines, but is available for private planes. Call before the Sale, and we will have some one pick you up in Monmouth.

Terms of the Sale & Guarantees

Cattle sell per the terms & conditions of their breed associations. Announcements from the Auction Block on Sale Day regarding the cattle selling in this sale will take precedence over the information printed in this catalog. No cattle will be loaded until paid for. Terms are cash, check with proper ID (i.e. Driver’s license) or Master Card/Visa will be accepted with a 3% fee. For example, if you are the successful bidder at $1,000 and you charge your purchase using your credit card. Your credit card statement will show a payment of $1,030 to the Foundation Female Sale. A 2% per month interest charge will be added on all outstanding account balances. If you can’t attend the sale, contact one of the owners or consultants for information regarding our sight unseen buyer guarantee. We will arrange for a member of the sale staff to discuss the cattle with you. Bidding can be done via phone or by a confidental bid prior to the sale. Please call between August 29th - September 1st to obtain a bidder number. We will arrange to have someone call you when the lot(s) you are interested in, enters the sale ring. Please note that our sale will start on time and will move quickly, so be prepared to make your bids promptly.

Trucking

We will assist you with your trucking arrangements no matter how many head you purchase. If you purchase 10 head or more, we will guarantee that the buyer will spend no more than $200 per lot purchased to have the cattle trucked (If the trucking bill comes to over $200 per lot, we will pay the additional cost). The buyer has within 21 days following the sale to re-pregnancy test their purchase(s). All bred females have been examined safe in calf by Dr. Huston, and sell that way. If any animals are found open within those 21 days you must notify Bob at once for an adjustment to be made. All animals have been tested as required by a licensed veterinarian for the selling in the State of Illinois and are selling subject to the various health requirements of the state to which they are destined. All females are OCV’s unless stated otherwise. Actual herd health programs will be included on the supplement sheet provided during the sale weekend. Genetic Testing

Sexed Semen Guarantees

Due to the fact that sexed semen purchased only guarantees the chances of a heifer being 90%, we will not be able to guarantee that a heifer will result from the pregnancy. We do however guarantee that sexed semen was used on the lots listed as such.

Embryo Guarantees

All embryo lots being sold with a guarantee are only guaranteed if a certified embryologist performs all embryo work.

Registrations

**New to Sale** All half-blood or higher bred cattle will be registered if they bring $2500 or higher, otherwise transfers will be the responsiblity of the buyer. Please leave a name for transfer at the clerk’s table, or call/e-mail Cathy Dwyer within the week after the sale. Guest consignors frequently transfer cattle personally; Cathy passes on all transfer information to the responsible parties.

We would like to welcome everyone to the 5th Annual Foundation Female Sale Livestock Judging Contest, sponsored by the Western Illinois University Hoof’n’Horn club. Contest will be held Saturday September 1st, 2012 check in will start at 8:30 am CST. This contest will be open to all individuals aged 8 to 18, and free of charge. Lunch will be furnished to all participants and their sponsors. Teams and individuals will be placed in two separate divisions based on age. The Junior division will consist of participants ranging in age from 8-12 years old. While Senior division participants range in age from 13-18 years old. We will have approximately 7 class of cattle to be evaluated. Trophies or plaques will be given to the top 5 teams in each division and top 10 individuals in each division.
