Wurtec Aluminum Series

Why you need Wurtec’s ALUMINUM SERIES in your toolkit.

Wurtec’s ALUMINUM SERIES encompasses a growing product line of aluminum alternatives to steel or cast iron alternatives of the same parts. The ALUMINUM SERIES includes the following parts:

Compare to traditional cast-iron Roebling clamps.

A lightweight alternative to our steel shortening clamps. 6- and 8-rope clamps available.

A lightweight ratcheting clamp for rigging applications in hard-to-reach locations. Much easier to lift into place than a steel clamp!

Creates a secure hitching point for shortening wire ropes. Also available in a kit with the aluminum rope clamps for a complete rope shortening solution. For 6 8-, and 10-rope setups.

Aluminum has a higher STRENGTH-TO-WEIGHT RATIO than other commonly used metals.

Aluminum 6061-T6, the alloy used in our products, has a strength-to-weight ratio (also known as specific strength) of 115. This means that an aluminum tool can do the heavy lifting you need with a smaller mass than tools made from other metals.

Wurtec’s ALUMINUM SERIES products deliver an up to 68% weight reduction vs. alternatives.

Of all the hazards faced by elevator mechanics on the job - dizzying heights, high-voltage shocks, silent counterweights - it might be easy to overlook everyday strains and sprains from lifting heavy tools.

Wurtec’s aluminum tools help reduce the risk of both sudden injury and long-term wear and tear on the body. Our ALUMINUM SERIES products offer an up to 53% reduction (for shortening clamps) or 68% (for beam clamps) in weight versus comparable products made from other materials, like cast iron or steel.

One exception to this is our aluminum rope clamps. These clamps have larger dimensions and a higher weight than cast iron Roebling clamps (although the heaviest weighs in at less than 8 lbs.). However, they deliver more than double the working load limit of cast-iron clamps - meaning they truly “pull their weight” and then some!

See page 3 for a weight comparison.

All our ALUMINUM SERIES products have been rated for appropriate elevator industry applications.

It might be hard to believe our sleek, lightweight aluminum tools can pack a heavy punch on the jobsite. But don’t worry - our materials are rated for working load limits that meet or exceed those of common steel or iron alternatives.
