PGA of America Partners with Omaha Productions to Launch “We Love this Game” Marketing Campaign. (Via PGA.com on September 20, 2023)

EXCERPTS... The PGA of America has partnered with Omaha Productions to launch the “We Love this Game” marketing campaign, which will debut Sept. 25 during weeklong coverage of the 2023 Ryder Cup on NBC and Peacock, USA Network, Golf Channel and across digital and social media.

The campaign aims to elevate and reinforce the role of PGA of America Golf Professionals as boldly influencing the present and future of the sport and industry by delivering more enjoyable experiences to golfers everywhere, no matter where they may be on their golf journeys.

In conjunction with the marketing campaign, the PGA of America has introduced an updated, modernized logo (below) to help better distinguish the Association’s brand in the vast golf industry. The logo, designed for digital and social media, broadcast, and print usage, showcases a more open simplified look that b ilds off the Association’s heritage hile

Inwood hosted the 1921 PGA, won by Walter Hagen, and the 1923 US Open, the first major win for Bobby Jones. After winning at Inwood, the floodgates opened for Jones, allowing him to become the greatest amateur golfer ever.

Hello, TSPGA Members and Associates. The Birdie Bash is over on the course, but our donation and bid boards remain open until Sept. 27th. Your support is greatly appreciated and will go toward our PGA REACH Tri-State Foundation to grow the three pillars (PGA Jr. League, PGA HOPE, and PGA Works) within the section. And to the UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation of Pittsburgh.

The section purchased a van for the junior golf team and tour this year. Our PGA HOPE programs require additional 'Solo Riders' to assist disabled veterans, and the development of staff and programs towards diversity and inclusion are on the table for 2024; our Reach foundation is key to building and growing all of these programs.

PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans and Active Duty Military to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

Ten Teams Advance to National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championships Next Month (Via PGA.com By Tammy Boclair, Mandy Crow & Hayley Wilson on Tuesday, September 12, 2023)

EXCERPTS... Region 2

Drumlins Country Club welcomed eight all-star teams of junior golfers in two age divisions – 13u and 17u – representing the Central New York, Northeast New York, Tri-State, and Western New York PGA Sections for two fun days of competition at the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional. The 13u and 17u championships were matchups of Anders Mattson Golf All-Stars and The Hot Shot All-Stars, with each team winning a championship.

Hot Shots Win, Head to Inaugural 17u National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship.

The Hot Shots All-Stars are headed to the inaugural PGA Jr. League 17u National Championship after defeating the Anders Mattson All-Stars (Saratoga, N.Y.) 5.5-3.5 in match play Sept. 10th. The Hot Shots, led by Head Coach Troy Williams, PGA Associate, and Assistant Coach Jason Higginbotham, will compete as Team Pennsylvania in the inaugural 17u Championship.

A MESSAGE FROM COACH TROY WILLIAMS

Proud coach after the Hot Shot Golf Academy 13U All-Stars went to their 4th straight Regional Championship last weekend. This team played their hearts out but finished as the PGA Jr. League Region #2 Runner-Up, so their season sadly ends. They finished the Saturday stroke play qualifier in 2nd place to earn the #2 seed for match play.

While the season didn’t end the way any of us wanted, I couldn’t be more proud of this team, and had so much fun with them on and off the course over the weekend. Great job, HSGA Team Fire, Try-State PGA Section Champs, and Region 2 Runner-Up! We’ll be back next year!

Special thanks to my friend Jason Thorp for stepping up as Assistant Coach for us in Syracuse! I couldn’t have done this without you!

PGA of America Announces 2023 Hall of Fame Class (Via PGA.com on September 18, 2023)

EXCERPTS... The PGA of America today announced the six inductees of the 2023 PGA of America Hall of Fame Class: Robert Dolan, PGA; Don Wegrzyn, PGA; Herb Wimberly, PGA; PGA Past President Suzy Whaley, PGA; LPGA legend Kathy Whitworth; and CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz.

The 2023 Class will be inducted at the 107th PGA Annual Meeting during a special ceremony on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort in Frisco, Texas.

The PGA of America Hall of Fame originated in 1940 at the suggestion of famed sportswriter Grantland Rice to honor and recognize individuals who, through their lives, careers, service, and support, have made significant and enduring contributions to the PGA of America in its mission to grow the game of golf. It is the highest honor that the PGA of America can bestow upon its membership or ambassadors of the game.
