What is the best part of your game?

My short game

Can you name two of your favorite golf courses that you've played on and what makes them unique to you?

The Club at Nevillewood - the opportunity the membership and facility have given me over the last almost 15 years has been the chance of a lifetime for my career. I also had the fortune to attend the Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitationals as a fan in the past at Nevillewood, and then to become the Head Golf Professional at the facility has really allowed everything to come full circle for me.

Pebble Beach Golf Links - My wife and I spent a week at the resort, and she was able to walk the course with our group as I played.

What initially drew you to the game of Golf, and how did you get started?

Like many, my father introduced me to the game at a young age and I have played ever since. Growing up, the days I was not at the course I could be found in my backyard hitting golf balls over and around our house.

Please give us some insight into your prior positions.

I was hired at The Club at Nevillewood as an Assistant Golf Professional when I was finishing my last semester in college. I attended California University of PA (now PennWest) and completed internships at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel Indiana; Park Meadows Country Club in Park City, Utah; and Sweetbriar Golf Club in Avon Lake, Ohio. My first position in the golf business was in the cart building at Cherry Creek Golf Course in Youngwood, PA.

What made you decide to pursue a career in the PGA of America, and how long have you been a PGA member?

I have been a Class A member of the PGA of America for nine years now. As a teenager in high school who actually enjoyed going to work every day, I knew I had to figure out a way to make a career out of it. That is when I learned about the PGA's Professional Golf Management Program and decided to pursue a career in the golf industry and become a PGA of America Member.

Talk about being a PGA of America member, what it means, and having PGA after your name.

Being a member of the PGA of American makes all the difference in the world when it comes to exceeding in the industry. Having the letters PGA after your name sets you apart from others in the field and tells your members and their guests you are an expert in the game. It truly defines you as a professional in the game of golf.

What wisdom can you offer about golf careers and the importance of becoming a PGA member/achieving membership status?

I always tell anyone getting into the business to try and learn as much as possible about every aspect of the business. Individuals can excel in specific areas such as teaching, club repair, merchandising, ect... but being proficient in every facet of the business will only help in the long run. Becoming a PGA Professional will only solidify your knowledge of the game and business to others.
