OPHTALMOLOGY SUMMIT The UN Group of Friends of Vision convened a meeting of world leaders to discuss the value of vision, a meeting in which Doctor Mariano Yee participated. The meeting is raising the profile of eye health as a fundamental development issue critical to achieving the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). The United Nations General Assembly, Gaston Brwne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, and the Friends of the UN Vision group received world leaders, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister of Nepal, and Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of ST. Kitts and Nevis, ministerial representatives from more than 15 countries and many eye health organizations. Prime Minister Browne addressed the group and said: “We must focus more of our collective action on health and development initiatives that are achievable and can accelerate progress on all the Sustainable Development Goals. Healthy vision is one of those issues, but we must prioritize it more. It can be resolved in this decade.”

Important conversations like this reinforce that it is time to take decisive action on global eye health. Where all governments implement the recommendation of the UN Vision Resolution and seize the opportunity to address eye health as a contributing factor to economic and other progress. Dr. Mariano Yee and Kate attended the UN General Assembly. Dr. Mariano had closing remarks at the high-level delegation breakfast on Vision. He spoke to 21 Health Ministers (including Nepal) as representatives of ILO and WHO. The United Nations high-level meeting on universal health coverage 2023 took place on September 21, 2023. It provided countries and stakeholders the opportunity to reinvigorate progress towards the provision of health services for all. World leaders renewed their commitment to achieving UHC by 2030 with the adoption of a new political declaration.

The language around eye health has been notably strengthened since 2019. The statement indicates the universal recognition of eye health as an important global challenge and fundamental to universal health coverage efforts.

CENTER OF VISION In our Vision Centers, we carry out a series of specialized ophthalmological sessions that allow us to identify various eye diseases in our patients in time. Through careful and personalized follow-up, we seek to provide the solutions necessary to achieve a notable improvement in your vision. Guastatoya As an integral part of our work at the Vision Center, we are dedicated to raising awareness among our patients about various eye diseases, with the aim of preventing total blindness. Recently, we carried out a series of visits to different towns in the region, including San Cristóbal Acasaguastlán and the villages Puente Orellana and San Gertrudis. During these visits, we approach neighborhood stores to provide key information on different ocular pathologies and perform tests for visual acuity, glaucoma, and blood pressure control. Our approach seeks to not only treat conditions, but also educate the community about the importance of eye health and overall well-being.

San Marcos In our ongoing commitment to community eye health, at the Vision Center we conduct primary screenings in local areas, especially targeting seniors. These reviews allow us to identify possible patients with various ocular pathologies, whom we then refer to our Vision Center for appropriate monitoring and treatment. In particular, we focus on identifying those patients who could benefit from no-cost surgery, in line with our participation in World Sight Day 2023. Through these initiatives, we reaffirm our commitment to ocular well-being and care. quality medical care for the community.

TRAINING AND

DEVELOPMENT At Visualiza we continue with the professional growth of our collaborators, we carry out a wide range of activities designed to promote their comprehensive development.

Certified in human talent management. Aimed at Human Talent, to learn about the different perspectives of human talent management, legal and financial aspects of management. With the objective of providing the participant with the necessary skills to effectively manage human talent, promoting a productive and competitive work environment.

Optic neuritis. Aimed at all doctors (Xela, Petén and Zone 9), with the aim of knowing and expanding knowledge about the inflammation that can damage the fibers of the optic nerve and to raise awareness about the consequences it can cause, such as short-term vision loss. long-term and conditions that have been linked to optic neuritis.

Patient care: handling difficult situations. Workshop aimed at all Visualiza employees, to learn the importance of good customer service to grow as an organization, as well as obtain effective techniques for handling conflictive customers and complaint management..

Ophthalmology, congenital glaucoma and genetics. Aimed at all doctors (Xela, Petén and Zone 9), providing updated techniques for the treatment of pediatric glaucoma and medical treatment, pediatric cataract surgery and congenital eye diseases.

Protocol for patient recruitment sessions.. Directed training for conference teams, with the aim of informing about the importance of the days and the impact they have on the communities.

Diploma in detection of ocular pathologies (module 4 and 5).. Aimed at Optometry, this training allows us to identify the present signs and symptoms of the most frequent pathologies through the appropriate clinical method for their correct detection.

Speak, connect and impact. Aimed at Human Talent, it allows you to obtain tools to be able to speak in public, impact and influence other people through communication.
