OPPOSITION COMPETITION MASTER IN OPHTHALMOLOGY During the month of April, the second and third stages of the Master’s in Ophthalmology Competitive Competition were completed. In the second stage, 13 candidates attended and received information about the process and development of the competition prior to taking the exam. Of these, 8 candidates obtained a satisfactory grade, greater than 80%.

In the third stage, the 8 selected candidates were evaluated through a psychometric test and an interview with the Human Talent Management, Medical Academic Management and Academic Coordination. After an exhaustive analysis of the profiles, the 3 candidates have been selected, who will begin their residency in July 2024.

OPTOMETRY DIPLOMA EVALUATION IN OCULAR PATHOLOGIES During April, the optometrists participating in the Diploma in Ocular Pathologies carried out a Final Field Evaluation. Mr. Amado Cabrera, responsible for these evaluations, made visits to hospitals and vision centers throughout the country.

Its objective was to ensure that the training process of the Diploma, which was taught in virtual mode, is aligned in daily practice, guaranteeing high quality standards in patient care and strengthening the relationship with the communities to effectively and timely increase the referral of patients to different hospitals.

OPHTHALMOLOGICAL DAY

SAN MARCOS

In the main streets of San Pedro Sac and San Marcos, a tour is held to publicize the services of the Vision Center in San Marcos, as well as an ophthalmology day in La Federación village and Las Lagunas village, San Marcos.

On the day, training was implemented for teachers and more than 250 checkups were carried out, including 75 boys, 90 girls, more than 70 men and more than 150 women.

OPHTHALMOLOGICAL DAY

TOTONICAPÁN

During the month of April, different points in the Totonicapán area are visited to continue bringing visual health to more patients who do not have access to it. Among the points visited are the health area and the Association of Midwives of Totonicapán, who were given a complete check-up detecting different pathologies or refractive problems, referring them to the Vision Center and providing care with treatment for allergies, pingueculas and in some cases He was referred for treatment of pterygium and avastin course. Thus providing support to the different women midwives and different patients in the Totonicapán health area.

WORKING DAY

PEDIATRIC

As part of our activities at Visualiza we have a group of sessions dedicated to carrying out evaluations in schools in different parts of the Guatemalan region. In the month of April, the Official Rural Mixed Schools El Astillero, Nuestro Futuro School in Ciudad Vieja and Miriam Orozco School are visited, attending to where more than 600 children have been evaluated, giving talks on eye health with the purpose of promoting good eye health in children. Thus, the program was also executed looking toward the future, where teachers are trained on visual acuity measurements so that they can evaluate children to find refractive problems and give talks on eye care.

In each school, Vision Captains are selected, who help us promote eye care, selecting active, attentive and responsible children to model for their peers.

HOSPITAL

VINCENT PESCATORE With the support of practicing students from the Bachelor of Optometry program at Galileo University, a refractive day is held in the area of the Conservation and Research Center of Tikal Park, Flores.

During the day, a team of 40 personnel who work in the different areas of the park were assisted, giving them the opportunity to be treated and purchase glasses for patients whose working conditions do not allow them to attend our clinics.

The Centro Maya, Shaan, Suculté and Nueva Unión Villages, Dolores Petén, were also visited, with day staff and optometrists from the Visualiza Pescatore Hospital, in alliance with the Municipal Directorate of Women and Municipal Directorate of Disability of the Municipality of Dolores, Peten. Confirming diagnoses and following up on treatments needed by patients from these rural areas, with few resources and who were mostly elderly adults and children with congenital visual problems.

MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Aimed at hospital administrators and heads of Vision Centers, academic coordination and hospital managers, for the continuous training of leaders in strengthening the business communication skills necessary for professional development; learning in this month’s modules about effective email writing techniques.

USE OF PLATFORM FOR TESTING PSYCHOMETRIC Aimed at human talent, with the aim of achieving greater consistency in the administration of psychometric tests through the use of software, guaranteeing their standard application to all participants. Ensuring the precision and reliability of the results.

4.

POWER BI FOR HUMAN RESOURCES Aimed at human talent management, to create control panels and analyze human resource management in Visualiza with different criteria. Automate operational reports such as real costs per employee, benefits, turnover rate by area, among others.

CULTURE OF RECOGNITION Aimed at human talent personnel, with the purpose of understanding the importance of true recognition, which translates into sincere interest, creating an emotional bond between people and Visualiza.

OPTICAL-OPTOMETRY INTERACTION WORKSHOP AND LABORATORY Aimed at opticians and optical laboratories, knowing the verification of ophthalmic lenses, patient care and counseling, face types, etc., in order to improve the patient experience.

INTERNAL PROCESSES WORKSHOP FOR CARE AND COLLECTION MANAGEMENT WITH COMMERCIAL ALLIANCES Aimed at finances, hospital managers and heads of vision centers, to deepen the knowledge of the organizational structure of insurance, as well as the identification of the collaborators responsible for establishing alliances, the necessary requirements, platforms used and processes of pay. Allowing more effective integration and synergy in the clinic collection and accounting process for the benefit of patients who have health insurance.

PEARLS IN OCULAR ONCOLOGY Aimed at all Visualiza doctors, through Dr. Ancona’s experience in the research “Choroidal Nevus Imaging Features in 3,806 cases and Risk Factors for Transformation into Melanoma in 2,355 cases”, the new Diagnostic Mnemonics was proposed which points out the variables to take into account for a possible identification of a Choroidal Melanoma before it appears, allowing studies to determine whether the lesion is benign or malignant. Later addressing the different treatments for Melanoma and Retinoblastoma.

OPHTHALMOPEDIATRIC AND ALLERGIES Aimed at all Visualiza doctors, to learn about and review the symptoms, classification and treatment of ocular allergies in pediatric patients.

INTRAOCULAR LENSES Aimed at anterior segment doctors and medical management, to learn about the disparities between intraocular lenses, including their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, and how these can facilitate the patient and the doctor in selecting the most appropriate lens in a personalized manner.
