OPPOSITION COMPETITION MASTER IN OPHTHALMOLOGY

During the month of April, the second and third stages of the Master’s in Ophthalmology Competitive Competition were completed. In the second stage, 13 candidates attended and received information about the process and development of the competition prior to taking the exam. Of these, 8 candidates obtained a satisfactory grade, greater than 80%.

In the third stage, the 8 selected candidates were evaluated through a psychometric test and an interview with the Human Talent Management, Medical Academic Management and Academic Coordination. After an exhaustive analysis of the profiles, the 3 candidates have been selected, who will begin their residency in July 2024.

OPTOMETRY

DIPLOMA EVALUATION IN OCULAR PATHOLOGIES

During April, the optometrists participating in the Diploma in Ocular Pathologies carried out a Final Field Evaluation. Mr. Amado Cabrera, responsible for these evaluations, made visits to hospitals and vision centers throughout the country.

Its objective was to ensure that the training process of the Diploma, which was taught in virtual mode, is aligned in daily practice, guaranteeing high quality standards in patient care and strengthening the relationship with the communities to effectively and timely increase the referral of patients to different hospitals.

WORKING DAY PEDIATRIC

As part of our activities at Visualiza we have a group of sessions dedicated to carrying out evaluations in schools in different parts of the Guatemalan region. In the month of April, the Official Rural Mixed Schools El Astillero, Nuestro Futuro School in Ciudad Vieja and Miriam Orozco School are visited, attending to where more than 600 children have been evaluated, giving talks on eye health with the purpose of promoting good eye health in children. COMMERCIAL ALLIANCES Aimed at finances, hospital managers and heads of vision centers, to deepen the knowledge of the organizational structure of insurance, as well as the identification of the collaborators responsible for establishing alliances, the necessary requirements, platforms used and processes of pay. Allowing more effective integration and synergy in the clinic collection and accounting process for the benefit of patients who have health insurance.

PEARLS IN OCULAR ONCOLOGY

Aimed at all Visualiza doctors, through Dr. Ancona’s experience in the research “Choroidal Nevus Imaging Features in 3,806 cases and Risk Factors for Transformation into Melanoma in 2,355 cases”, the new Diagnostic Mnemonics was proposed which points out the variables to take into account for a possible identification of a Choroidal Melanoma before it appears, allowing studies to determine whether the lesion is benign or malignant. Later addressing the different treatments for Melanoma and Retinoblastoma.

OPHTHALMOPEDIATRIC AND ALLERGIES

Aimed at all Visualiza doctors, to learn about and review the symptoms, classification and treatment of ocular allergies in pediatric patients. 9.

INTRAOCULAR LENSES

Aimed at anterior segment doctors and medical management, to learn about the disparities between intraocular lenses, including their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, and how these can facilitate the patient and the doctor in selecting the most appropriate lens in a personalized manner.
