My first encounter with

RABBI BRODSKY was when he was rushing through the lobby of CHOP 11:00 at night when I saw him the next morning still at CHOP drinking coffee in the Chai Lifeline pantry I realized he was up all night and hadn't slept or gone home.

- When I called him 10 min before licht bentching he spoke with me as if he had nothing better to do than talk with me and spent time on the phone with me, not hanging up before all arrangements were made.

- When I called him on Erev Shabbos and said I was just discharged and not sure I'll make it home on time for Shabbos, he said no problem and made all the necessary arrangements to have a goy waiting to meet me, just in case we would miss shkia.

- When I called that I was rushed to the hospital on the first day of Sukkos and don't have a lulav and esrog, he said we already thought of that and there's one in the Bikur Cholim room.

- When I called that I left my tefillin at home he said no problem and told me where to find the key for the mehudar tefillin.

- When I had to go in emergency on Thursday but was coming home for Shabbos, he understood to send over a full catered Shabbos meal making me feel at ease and not allowing me to protest.

- When the hospital scheduling decided to put us in for general anesthesia and my child would be unable to eat until 3:00 in the afternoon, just call Yehoshua Brodsky.

He pulled all the strings to get us a more convenient time.

- When it was Erev Shabbos in the winter 2:00 in the afternoon after our initial diagnosis, he sat with us in the hospital room forgetting the time, not realizing that he needs to travel back to Lakewood and get ready for Shabbos.

- When I called 9:00 PM that we just found out we need to rush to the hospital but I was tired, he sent a driver to my house.

- When I called at midnight to ask who I should call if I'm discharged in middle of the night he said "What's the problem, call my cell - 3:00AM? No problem" - When I needed somebody to advocate for a specific anesthesiologist to comfort my child in the OR he used all his contacts and 'pull' to get it done.

- When I was discharged in middle of the night but didn't have my car he arranged an Uber to pick us up and bring us home.

- When I called after midnight that we were being discharged 2:00 AM and was too tired to drive home, he arranged a hotel style room in the Chai House for me and my child.

Rabbi Brodsky is always there. Nothing too big or too small. With his trademark reassuring sarcasm, "This is the first time I got this request" or "It happens all the time - it would be a bigger bother if you wouldn't call", Rabbi Brodsky is always there and ready.

We schmoozed together, laughed together and cried together, a true friend and real tzadik. May he have kochos to continue his avodas hakodesh for many years, mitoch brius haguf v'harchovas hada'as.
