uScians rejoiced as RTPM-DSHS reigned champions in the 35th Pasigarbo: Sandurot Festival Showdown held at the Dumaguete City Boulevard alongside the Best Instrumentalist and Best in Choreography titles on September 24. Marking their first-ever participation in the annual festival, RTPM-DSHS emerged victorious after besting six other contenders in the school

category, taking home two million PHP worth of projects and a 150,000 PHP cash prize. The two major awards garnered, namely the Best Instrumentalist and Best in Choreography, amounted to 20,000 PHP each. This victory paid tribute to the immense dedication and effort the school put into practice as they started off in the middle of the summer break with only eight weeks left until the contest.

Under the guidance of the Sandurot coordinator, Mr. James Carl Umbac, the head coach, Oliver Gajano, the percussions of the Banilad Tribe Drumbeaters, and the relentless support of the parents and teachers, the school was able to reach this milestone. In an interview with the school principal, Chinky May Freires-Paculanang, she stated she was beyond proud to hear about the latest achievement as it showed how holistically-developed the

students were. Not only do they thrive in academics, but also in extracurricular activities ㅡdemonstrating resilience, versatility, and teamwork. The collaborative effort of the entire DuScian community allowed the contingents to prevail despite the lack of competition experience and financial constraints. “I cannot help but be very grateful for having a lot of support that makes the children excel in whatever endeavor

Coordinator, said in his opening speech. Moreover, the rest of the afternoon is designated for the continuation of tournaments.

This anticipated event was pushed through after the postponement of classes last Friday, November 17, 2023, due to weather conditions.
