At the heart of Duresta is a talented team of hardworking creative designers and expertly skilled upholsterers. We celebrate our collective wealth of knowledge, skill, and creativity by producing the finest quality furniture.
My Duresta journey started in 1979 as an apprentice in Long Eaton. It was the only place to be taught every aspect of making traditional, handcrafted quality furniture, and this still holds true to this day. After 45 years I am still learning every day.
Upholstering at Duresta is still a passion of mine, and my aim is to produce the very best furniture possible. Only when you produce quality, do you understand quality. And, I would like to leave a legacy of quality and design for any future upholsterers.

Connaught is a signature Duresta classic, and its upholstery technique is nothing short of flawless.
Starting its journey with a solid wood frame and building it up layer by layer. Comfort is key with Connaught; layers of our high-quality foam is placed over the arms and back. To ensure we keep the iconic Chesterfield style back the materials are pre-drilled, allowing the back buttons to perfectly align, creating a stunning design.
The fabric or leather is expertly marked for the upholsterer, ensuring it is placed centrally onto the furniture and perfectly aligning with the predrilled materials in preparation for the buttons to be attached. Once the upholsterer is happy with the tension of the fabric or leather, each button is tied off twice, securing them into position. Next, the beautiful, pleated arm and back details are tirelessly arranged individually. The upholsterer will then assess their work and if they are completely satisfied, our high-quality coil spring units are fitted in readiness for the sumptuous goose feather or optional seat cushions.
Sit back and relax with the charming Alex range. This design is understated and stylish, with a timeless quality. Alex will complement any décor and scale of living space.

We also offer artisanal fabrics we are painted, sprayed or finished by hand. Due to these unique processes each batch may have individual colour tolerances. We have an extensive range of velvet and chenille fabrics within our collections. Fabrics with a pile can become flattened or crushed. This is a characteristic of pile fabrics and shouldn’t be regarded a flaw. Care should be taken not to leave heavy objects on pile fabrics as this can leave an impression.

When purchasing your Duresta furniture, it’s incredibly important to choose the right type of filling for your seats, backs, and scatter cushions to ensure optimal comfort for you.
The filling you choose for your seat and cushions can make all the difference. Below is a guide to help inform your choice.
Fibre:
Man-made synthetic material
• Plump appearance
Deep, soft comfort
Non-allergenic
Must be plumped up regularly
Feather:
A natural filling that offers a “sinking in” feeling Soft, relaxed solution
Daily plumping is required to retain shape
• Becomes softer with use
Please note this interior is substantially heavier than any other interior which some customers may struggle to handle
Duraluxe:
• Channels of rhomboid strands of foam, together with duck feathers
Aesthetic and comfort of a fibre or feather cushion, whilst retaining durability
Regular shake and turning of the cushion will help retain definition

Certain models in our collections are available with metal studding (see the options table on previous page). The following finishes are available to choose from in two sizes:
Grosgrain is a 100% polyester ribbon. Grosgrain piping can be selected as contrast piping for your sofa, footstool and/or scatters, and is suitable for use as piping only. Grosgrain is not available on the following piped models: Harvard and Belgrade (see page 139). The following models are non-piped and therefore Grosgrain cannot be specified: Soho, Carnaby Chair and Lewis Stools. If you do not wish to pipe in grosgrain you are able to choose a fabric from the swatch books.
The following colour options are available for the tie backs on drop arm models; Trafalgar and Hornblower. Please ensure your preferred tie back colour has been selected when placing your order. Where appropriate, we recommend a tie back colour for each Duresta fabric.
